SPECIAL FEATURES
- This ring is able to act a distress beacon, which when activated the CIS military will dispatch a shuttle and commando extraction team to locate and rescue the agent.
- The inside of the band is inlaid with FIR energy stone, magnet, and germanium, helping to improve energy, stamina, and health, as well as resist EMP/Ion risks.
- The ring is equipped with dual-core chipset, enabling the ring to imitate and copy various kinds of ID, ID smart card chip, etc. to act as personal ID, bank card, lock code card, and so forth. This information is all encrypted and keyed to the specific wearer's DNA, allowing them to access Ministry locations, ships, computers, etc. Exceptionally difficult to slice, the wearer can use this ring to access protected areas and systems, but also to lock their own computers, etc. ensuring privacy.
- Basic slicing program encoded into the chipset above also allows wearers to unlock / deactivate simple locks, doors, and common security measures. Truly advanced or complex security will not be affected by this, and even bypassing simple security may take anywhere from several seconds to a few minutes.
- A high-speed intelligent microchip integrated into the ring. With 106 kb/s wireless data transfer rate, 100,000 write cycles durability, allowing the wearer to save all manner of information to the ring efficiently and quickly. Everything from documents, holo-images, and more can be safely stored on the ring, accessible only through DNA encrypted and password-protected permissions making the user the only one able to access, view, transfer, or remove the data stored here. Agents can transfer information from ring to ring with a simple, unassuming handshake.
- Ring does not require charging.
- Ring is waterproof up to 20m for periods in excess of 30 standard minutes.
- Ring monitors lifesigns of the wearer, and can record steps-taken, vital sign history, and other health-related data, enabling the wearer to closely monitor their own well-being and will alert the wearer (using a mild pulse) if they are in danger, i.e. weak or distressed heartbeat,
- Ring functions as an encrypted short-range (16km) audio-only comlink, with clarity whisper microphone and when pressing the ring finger behind their ear, uses bone-conduction to allow perfectly clear hearing without being overheard by others.
- Very strong materials ensure the rings are difficult to destroy and unaffected by all but very extreme heat or cold.
- DNA-Encrypted data storage and ID information, allows secure data transfer, access to restricted areas, systems, and equipment.
- Simple Slicing device.
- Encrypted short-range comlink is discrete and unassuming.
- Monitors lifesigns and alerts user to potential risks.
- Distress beacon feature will call for military extraction.
- Lightweight, durable, and waterproof.
- Provides small measure of enhanced health, stamina, strength, and energy.
- Ring is not indestructible, and can become damaged or destroyed through extreme heat or cold exposure, deep water pressure exposure or prolonged submersion, or intentional attacks as absorbital coating will not protect against kinetic or lightsaber attacks.
- Ring will not work if not worn by individual it is DNA keyed-to, and if not worn by them for more than 100 standard hours, a self-destruction subroutine will activate, frying out the circuitry and rendering it nothing more than a simple ring. Once removed, countdown begins immediately.
- Comlink is audio-only and only works within a planet's atmosphere and up to a range of 16km; Can only be used to communicate with other rings or communications equipment having the same encryption/decryption software installed.
- Distress beacon only sends a general message, which cannot be detected by a ship in hyperspace; Commando team, if they respond, will still have to locate the individual as the ring's signal can only be tracked within 2 sq. km of individual.
- A malfunction could cause loss of some or all stored information or operation of other features.
- Slicing capability is useful only simple locks, security measures, and will be useless against more advanced systems; Slicer can take several seconds to a few minutes to open even a simple lock.
- Though very difficult to slice, the ring can be compromised by an expert slicer with powerful, advanced equipment and sufficient time.
Commissioned for the CIS' Ministry of Shadows, these rings are made from the tough, attractive, and ridiculously expensive Iridonian Damascus and are crafted by expert jewelers. Lightweight, durable, and tough, the rings are keyed to the DNA of Ministry personnel, and can only be operated by those personnel. This is a blessing and a curse, as it makes it difficult for others to access information stored here preventing misuse or theft, however if the wearer dies, the Ministry can't easily retrieve it either. In both cases, an expert slicer with powerful and advanced gear and plenty of time on their hands will be able to slice into it and recover the information.
These fashionable yet unassuming rings must be worn for at least one standard hour in every one hundred hours, or else the self-destruct subroutine will destroy the rings' capabilities, losing any stored information, and rendering them nothing more than a simple ring thereafter. The rings were designed for the Ministry exclusively and cannot be purchased by anyone but active members. Their usefulness however, makes them the perfect asset. Providing discreet, encrypted communication, an emergency distress beacon, rapid data transfer and secure storage, simple slicing capabilities, lifesign monitoring and a slight boost to performance, and granting access to the Ministry's secured, encrypted locations, ships, systems, computers, and equipment, the ring is exactly what is needed in a variety of scenarios. The ring uses small vibrational pulses, detectable only by wearer, to alert them to incoming messages, calls, risks to their health, or even as an alarm or schedule reminder if programmed to do so.
