Directorate Officer
We have a couple of minor Factory updates to put out as part of our ongoing effort to improve our experience at Chaos.
In order to give people a better and more standardized idea of armor balance given that we no longer do traditional judging, John Locke has been kind enough to make an optional armor spreadsheet tool. In general, it works very similar to the starship rating scheme. Increasing weight, lowering production levels, or reducing resistances gives more room to increase resistance ratings elsewhere. I want to emphasize that following this rating scheme is optional, but it is recommended in order to promote balanced and fair submissions.
Based on feedback from the community (notably [member="Thorne"]), we have revised the hangar system for capital ships as documented in the template and in a new starship spreadsheet. Each class is slightly different in the template because the ship sizes are different, but here's what it looks like for our cruisers:
Lastly, the Factory team has come up with guidelines for mechs that we think are best for the community at large. These guidelines have now been added to the vehicles rules section:
If they do request edits because of that rule, feel free to explain your reasoning on why you feel like it should be fit within the Star Wars universe. We will try and keep an open mind. However, in the end, we require full cooperation with Factory staff's end guidance.

This allows people more freedom in allocating up their starfighter and support craft loadouts. Please be advised that for some larger ships, there is a minimum of support craft squadrons that must be retained at all times. This is largely to keep older ships competitive with newer ships in terms of overall squadrons, as this disparity becomes greater the larger the ship.
- Hangar Space: (Please provide the amount of fighters this submission can hold in it's hangar by count of Squadrons, which hold 12 average Starfighters. The higher your squadron count, the lower your Armament and number of advanced systems should be. )
500 Meters: [None: - | Very Low: 0 | Low: 1 | Average: 2 | Moderate: - | High: 3 | Very High: 5 | Extreme: 6]- 750 Meters: [None: - | Very Low: 1 | Low: 2 | Average: 3 | Moderate: 4 | High: 5 | Very High: 8 | Extreme: 9]
- 1000 Meters: [None: 2 | Very Low: 3 | Low: 4 | Average: 5 | Moderate: 6 | High: 7 | Very High: 11 | Extreme: 12]
[*]Hangar Allocations: (This is the allocated amounts of starfighters and support craft (dropships, shuttles, gunships, etc) this submission can hold in its hangar based on the maximum hangar space capacity listed above)
- Starfighters: x squadrons
- Support Craft: x squadrons (Minimum is "None" rating for ship its size)
Lastly, the Factory team has come up with guidelines for mechs that we think are best for the community at large. These guidelines have now been added to the vehicles rules section:
While we have tried to be as clear and transparent as possible, please realize that these are guidelines that may not encompass everything that can be made or created. A member of the Factory staff may request edits to a mech-like submission that is not covered here if they do not feel like it conforms the idea of Star Wars per its conceptual parent rule:Mechs, Walkers, and War Droids, in Star Wars have an iconic, industrial feel. They are not Gundams, Warhammer 40k, Zoids, Titans of Titan Fall, or any sort of extremely over-sized robot with humanoid features and/or erratic animal-esque movements.
The permitted aesthetics for all of these items mentioned are those which can be held up to existing, canon examples of Mechs, Walkers, or War Droids.
Hints:
- If it's bigger than an AT-ST [9-10M] it shouldn't have arms or shoulders
-More indepth general guidelines for the curious
All submissions need to conform to the general idea of Star Wars. No Gundam Wings, no Transformers.
If they do request edits because of that rule, feel free to explain your reasoning on why you feel like it should be fit within the Star Wars universe. We will try and keep an open mind. However, in the end, we require full cooperation with Factory staff's end guidance.
