Minor Password Bug

A while back, I had forgotten my password and submitted a forgotten password form (back on 1/07/15).

After I put in the new password, I had attempted to change the password (I believe I had put in a report back then that wen't unanswered). Each time I attempted to change to a new password (putting in the current password which is still the one I got from the forgotten password form back on 1/07/15) it told me that the password I had been given was wrong and refused to let me change the password.


Earlier today I found myself signed out of my comp and phone and it was telling me that my user name or password was incorrect.

A few moments ago it let me back in (still with the password from 1/07/15).

Once again I attempted to change to a new password, putting in my current password, however it once again has told me that my password is incorrect.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Dumb question on my part, but possibly helpful - Have you changed your name recently or does your browser save your login information?

An issue I had was I changed my name and my login information was also changed because of that. Weirdly enough, changing my display name (Is that a thing? I gorgot if it was display name or something else), from my login name had not affected my login.

My registered name: Galven Tiberious, changed last name to Solomon (forgot how), login information stayed the same.
Changed to Jeron Verity, everything changed. Maybe not the password, but now my login is Jeron Verity. It confused me for days.


Your browsers autofill may be causing issues.

I've had the same writer name (on this account) since I joined.

The only thing that changed was that I had forgotten my password.

I put in for a forgotten password form on 1/07/15.

After getting the first one, I attempted to change my password, which accepted my new password. It worked once before I was locked out again forcing me to go through the process a few more times. By the third or fourth time I just kept the password that the forgotten password email gave me (at which point I told the site to remember my login information).

Earlier today however it told me that the password (which had not changed in over a year; and I remind you that the name has not changed either) was no longer being accepted. A few minutes ago it suddenly accepted the password again as being correct. However when I dug it up (as I had saved the email) and attempted to change to a new password, it told me that the password I had was incorrect.

If you ever use browser saved information to auto fill, check that information also. Just to verify that the saved password in your email matches. This is not a fix, this is just to help rule things out so when Mister or Miss Bug Fixer comes some things are already ruled out.

If you use Chrome, it's in the settings under Advanced and then Manage Passwords
