SPECIAL FEATURES
The on-board targeting computers of the Minotaur-Class Assault Walker are robust systems, featuring the advanced Sagittarius-Class Targeting System to supplement them. The communications systems of each Minotaur are kept segregated from the rest of the walker’s system - this is to prevent potential remote control or electronic hijacking orchestrated by slicers. Other than this, the Minotaur is fairly mundane.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
- [Strength] The Minotaur can take a beating from other vehicles and assaulting it with small arms fire generally proves useless. Unless infantry have heavy ordnance on them when a Minotaur comes knocking, their best bet is to flee.
- [Strength] Minotaurs carry a lot of firepower for their size. Anything that won’t be chewed up under the laser cannon meets a more explosive end from its rocket launchers. Enemy infantry are especially vulnerable to the rotating laser cannon mounted on the roof.
- [Weakness] While the head of a Minotaur can rotate at will, it is a slow process. Its sides are also much less armored than the rest of it, preventing a tantalizing target to those who know of the vulnerability and have the opportunity to exploit it.
The absurdly wealthy or criminal kingpins often think they are out of reach of the Helix Syndicate; that their small legion of mooks and hired guns will keep them safe from Syndicate debt collectors. The Minotaur-Class is the first in a series of combat vehicles designed to remind them that no matter how many mercenaries they hire, no matter how much they entrench their hideouts, the Syndicate will reach them. So it’s usually their best option to stick to the payment plan.
Intimidation was certainly a factor in designing the Minotaur. Some would say its hydraulic limbs are, perhaps, noisier than would be expected. Although it is a slow and cumbersome vehicle intended mostly for use in intimidating the better-connected class of delinquents, this does not undermine its combat applications. A well supported Minotaur can punch through virtually any traditional obstacle, turning enemy armor and infantry to pulp. It is also able to hold its own against other heavy vehicles, provided it is properly supported and not otherwise outmatched.
