PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Age: Mid-20s
Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
Species: Rodian
Appearance: A youthful, slender Rodian male, not un-accustomed to hard work and activity, he is trim and wiry. Greenish-yellow skin. Often dressing in a simple red-brown work shirt, a two-tone brown leather coat with clasp closure and banded collar styling, a pair of reddish-brown spacer’s leather pants, a low-slung Corellian gun belt (worn to the right), and a pair of study spacer’s leather boots with magna-heels and a self-sharpening knife sheath along the side. A bandolier across the chest and a second about the waist serve as a utility harness, filled with additional munitions, tools, and other items.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
Name: Penel “Miq” Miq’Tavo, a.k.a. “The Trapper”
Loyalties: Grey Shadows
Wealth: Average
Notable Possessions:
“Red Vest” Body Armor
Skills:
Although able to fly a small craft, he is no starfighter pilot, nor is he of any use on the bridge of a large starship. Yet, he understands small craft, freighters, transports, and similar ships, their capabilities, limitations, weak spots, and advantages, knowledge gained while working in the spaceport at Red Sands as a youth.
He is familiar with ground maintenance and basic service for a starship, as well as cargo loading, unloading, and the nuances of maximizing available space and ensuring safe delivery.
He’s an adept accountant, highly-organized, detail-oriented, and business savvy, skills which make him an ideal ship’s steward.
A fairly proficient slicer, he is good at diffusing civilian and private-market security systems, low-grade locks and restraining devices (like those used by small law enforcement agencies in the Outer Rim and elsewhere), or disabling surveillance systems and evading alarms, and has an expansive knowledge of these types of systems used on private and commercial vessels, hangars, etc.
He is ‘streetwise’, given the circumstances of his background, and is able to hold his own amid the seedier and less ‘sterile’ environments of worlds around the galaxy, able to navigate interactions with criminals, ne’er-do-wells, and others who haunt such places. This makes an ideal choice for gathering information, able to move unnoticed and unobtrusively through the underbelly of society.
Personality:
COMBAT INFORMATION
Weapon(s) of Choice:
A Ravenclaw Sidearm, selected for its exceptional ammunition capacity, accuracy, and stopping power.
Combat Function:
An experienced bounty hunter, Miq is a good man to have with you in a fight. A crack shot with a blaster and a decent, if untrained, streetfighter, he is able to hold his own against most common street thugs, criminals, and even against regular security personnel or soldiers. Though, against better trained or more seasoned veterans, Special Forces troops, or skilled martial artists, and especially against Jedi-or-Sith-trained Force-Using foes, he will be far less effective.
His real skills lie with his ingenuity and cunning, out-planning and out-thinking larger, tougher, or better-trained foes to use his tactical expertise, cleverness, and talent for traps and deception to overcome those whom he can’t take by brute force or sheer prowess with a blaster.
STRENGTHS:
Miq’s experience as a cargo specialist and ground maintenance technician left him with an expansive knowledge of commercial ships, private transports, cargo hauling, and commercial spacing. He’s used this knowledge extensively for smuggling, fencing contraband, and masking his bounty hunting operations to avoid attention or detection by law enforcement.
Charming and clever, Miq is good at ‘playing a crowd’ – particularly among the lower classes and criminal underworld – and has a knack for making contacts, gaining information, and finding those who have ‘special skills’ which can be of use, e.g. outlaw technicians, slicers, thieves, outlaw medics, and more. If you want find something you’re not supposed to know or have, or need to get the ‘inside scoop’ on the local criminal scene, Miq’s your guy.
Miq relied on deception, cunning, and trickery to capture his targets, and preferred to avoid running gunfights, bar brawls, or other attention-grabbing methods in favor of quietly tracking and subduing his prey before anyone even knew he was there. As such, Miq is surprisingly clever and resourceful, not to be taken lightly, and able to overcome foes with surprisingly creative, unorthodox, and impressively effective methods.
WEAKNESSES:
While he is at home amid the lower classes and able to move freely among them, he is awkward and inexperienced with more cultured and sophisticated circumstances, standing out like ‘a sore thumb’ among the upper crust of society.
His slicing skills and familiarity with civilian-grade and private ships and security systems ends there, and he is not very effective whatsoever against military-grade or highly complex systems.
Miq knows how to fight, and his skills with a blaster pistol are nothing to sneeze at, however he is just out of his depth against better trained and experienced foes, and against trained Force-Using opponents, he has very little in his skillset to equalize the field against them.
He is, at best, a fair pilot and navigator, and would be most anyone’s last choice for a wingman.
Miq is not amoral, nor is he without a sense of loyalty or compassion, and thus won’t go to the normal extremes and use the same ruthlessness of other bounty hunters and scoundrels, and his moral streak, loyalty for friends, and unwillingness to harm innocents (among other virtues), can be used against him.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION:
Growing up poor in Red Sands, the largest city on Laranis II, Miq was like so many others there, struggling with his family to make ends meet. Working at the spaceport, he began working as a ground maintenance technician, fueling ships, cleaning waste tanks, and other menial, often thankless tasks. He was a good worker, and was even promoted to supervisor, but the small paychecks, grueling, filthy conditions and long hours took their toll. He eventually found a new position as cargo crew supervisor aboard a large freighter, managing manifests, supervising cargo bay reconfigurations, overseeing loading and unloading, and dealing with sales and delivery transactions and accounting. In this capacity, he worked aboard several ships and with various crews, visiting scores of worlds.
While waiting for a client in a Tatooine cantina to finalize delivery details, he noticed one of the patrons he’d seen on a wanted holo weeks before. Miq’s eidetic memory was rarely wrong, and he quietly confirmed the man’s status on his datapad. Sure enough, the man was wanted for a string of robberies, and the bounty for him was more than twice what Miq made in a year. The man was larger than he was, and his record showed he was a tough target, a former soldier with a long list of criminal skills, he’d evaded capture for months. Miq determined that capturing the fugitive and turning him over to the authorities would garner him a large payday, and with some quick planning, managed to capture and subdue the wanted man. So began his bounty hunting career, secretly coordinating his ship’s movements to track subjects across the galaxy, even hiding his activities from his fellow crew and smuggling subdued captives in cargo crates under falsified manifests. This profitable ‘side business’ ran for several years, and Miq’s clever ability to devise traps and scenarios to lure their targets in, overcoming some of the galaxy’s toughest bounties, resulting in several lucrative captures, all the while masquerading as a simple spacer. Miq’s bank account on Laranis III grew, just as the reputation of the mysterious bounty hunter known as “The Trapper” grew across the galaxy. Until, that is, he attempted to collect a bounty who was much more than he’d ever bargained for.
