Mission Report: Planet Niner-Sierra-Tango-Five-Seven (Athena Initiative)

Those of the Athena Initiative who found themselves assigned to the Discovery would report to a Captain Sheera. A Liran of quick wit and short patience, she ran a tight ship ready to explore the galaxy and defend itself from any dangers one might find it's outermost reaches. So when it was confirmed that celestial body NST-57 was a life-fulfilling planet there was a bit of celebration, but also a general tone of anxiety. It was the first 'new' planet discovered that had life. Well, EFT-41 had some bacteria, but most didn't write home about it. This was different, this was a planet full of dense jungle, humid atmosphere, and millions if not billions of bio-signs. Initial fly-bys suggested there was sapient life on the planet as well, though colonies were hidden by dense foliage.

Belek was convinced it was sheer luck, but he had been chosen as one of the security team to head down to the planet. His equipment, a blaster, scanner, commlink, machete, and other general camping supplies spent around a half an hour going through decontamination. All of it would be exposed to the elements, outside of his envirosuit. This initial decontamination was for the planet, lest the Athena Initiative be carrying any diseases the locals weren't prepared for. They'd go through another decontamination as they went back inside for opposite reasons. Disease prevention was of paramount importance to the Athena Initiative, with each member getting a thorough training in the subject. Who knew what was really out there after all? Belek gulped as he thought on it. Such simple things could spell disaster without caution.

"We're ready!" Belek heard the voice of his commander, a Miln named Shaela. "Shuttle One is heading out in Five. Four. Three" The Miln counted down as Belek and the scout team buckled in. The ship hovered off the ground before leaving the Discovery and heading down to planet NST-57. Provided there were no hiccups the ship would be touching down in a clearing in around fifteen minutes. Belek sighed as he looked as his weapon.

It's finally time.

it had been months since the First meet and greet on terminus, where he meet quite a few interesting fellows. in the time between J took care of some personal business. but he got the call from the Initiative so he came running. he meet up with the AI ship Discovery, above NST-57. he had to board the Discovery for decontamination, something about not bringing viruses to a planet thats has never seen intergalactic life, it made since. NS-57 was undiscovered until recently so no one know what was lying in wait for them on the surface. so the gear he took was simple, a rad counter, his gun, AI approved rations for several days, and a bio-defence mask. but that was hours ago. now J was aboard landing shuttle one, along with [member="Belek"] and their 'commander' Shaela. they where about to head planet side just 15 minute till.
