• Long Way From Home...​
  
  The Akitsu live on a world shrouded from the sight of the galactic community. Now and then a small number venture from their world hidden by cloaking technology to forage new technology or information from outside of their world. Yet, they do not let outsiders know where they are from, and take precautions to avoid being followed. They are a wily species that enjoy their privacy -- not because they're xenophobic, but because they do not desire the problems of the galaxy be brought home.
  
  As a young adult, Miyako managed to secure a spot on such an expedition offworlder curious about what was out there among the stars. The mission had gone well until the return trip when the ship was attacked. Pirates? Raiders? Someone trying to find her homeworld, Miyako never knew. They came under fire so quickly there'd been little time to bound into an escape pod and break free before the ship was engulfed in flame.
  
  When Miyako returned to consciousness, she found herself in a hospital with a number of curious sentients remarking of never having seen her kind before. Miyako knew Basic well enough to understand what was said -- the trade language of the galaxy was needed for those that left home to forage. Naturally they tried to get her to talk, but there was nothing she could say, and so she remained silent. Several representatives arrived in an attempt to reach the new lifeform that showed signs of intelligence despite her reluctance to speak. Eventually one of them managed to get the Fox-like woman to say her name.
  
  From then on opportunities were presented to her, which resulted in only one outcome. She would stay with them for a time. Explore. Perhaps find a way to return home without anyone following her -- assuming she could find the way home, anyway. Memorizing the astrogation charts had never been necessary. It took some time, but eventually Miyako accepted what happened and that she would need to deal with it. She was Akitsu, she would find a way.
