Royal High Commander, Ducha of Charubah
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The fruit of "Project Switchblade", Olanji/Charubah developed this bleeding-edge next-generation strike fighter to eventually replace the dated Miy'til, A-Wing, and X-wings still in service to the Royal Navy. The entire idea was to create a uniquely Hapan starfighter which could compete with modern fighters without involving yet another retrofit of a legacy fighter. When Ducha Relina Zhan was promoted to the Hapan Admiralty, she commissioned the corporation, through her noble family's connections, for the ship to be designed according to her own combat experience as a naval fighter pilot.
Zhan herself test flew the prototype, codenamed "Fulgerion" (Lit: Thunderbolt; Hapan), keenly comparing every pitch, roll, and even its acceleration rate against the fighters she had flown before with her feedback resulting in the final stages of the production's fine tuning. She flew the finished product on a number of rim skirmishes against pirates to push the new Miy'til Int/T Terminus to its limit. Once satisfied, she gave her approval on the ship's design and began selling its virtues directly to the Crown to pick up the new starfighter, especially for special operations and elite fighter squadrons, such at the Angel Squadron (7th Naval division, 77th Tactical Fighter wing (https://www.starwarsrp.net/threads/7th-division-77th-tactical-fighter-wing-angel-squadron.56947/).

- Sleek, streamlined profile such that the pilot is actually reclining back more than sitting straight upright, which allows for extremely high-g turns which can and will overwhelm the inertial compensators in the most extreme circumstances without endangering the pilot better than other upright-sitting pilot seats.
- Wings fold inward and swing outward in consideration of atmospheric flight, providing for smoother hypersonic cruising and superior maneuverability in dogfighting. In space, the same design redistributes the ship's mass and changes where the maneuvering jets are located relative to the ship itself.
- x4 https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/6X4_fusial_thrust_engine redesigned as a pulse-detonation configuration with the engines fitting flush with the sleek profile of the ship with 3-D thrust vectoring.
- Opaque titanium canopy with several sensor banks which feed high-definition holovid data of everything around the ship with out the visual obstruction of the ship's frame. HUD is typically provided by a visor worn by the pilot rather than a helmet and the all extra-visual sensors (such as radar, infrared, etc.) and targeting systems follow where the pilot is actually looking, which allows scanning data as well as target selection to be achieved almost as quickly as the pilot can think about it.
- Ejection system removes the entire canopy and seating section of the ship from the rest of the fuselage, providing life support and a relatively slow (compared to the full ship) single small engine to get the ejected pilot to safety. In the worst case scenario, there is an emergency hatch-release which will blow the canopy from the lifepod, allowing the pilot to jump and use their repulsor harness to float down to a planet's surface. The cockpit lifepod has a dedicated, albeit limited power supply designed to keep the pilot alive and give them a fair chance to escape.
- Astromech droid support.
- Chaff and ion-flare antiballistic countermeasures.

- Very fast and maneuverable in both space and atmospheres
- Generally thought to be more survivable against typical laser and missile weaponry
- With so many sophisticated, miniaturized, and specialized components, it is more expensive than legacy fighters still in service
- It has a glaring weakness to ion cannon weaponry such that, if an ion weapon shot were to actually connect, the shield system would completely short out and a follow up shot potentially could permanently neutralize it.
