- Air Conditioning System: Equipped with an Air Conditioning System, the Powered Combat Armour controls its' internal temperature even within extreme ambient temperatures. Typically the Climate Control keeps internal temperature between eighteen to twenty-two degrees Celsius for peak thermal efficiency and comfort although the internal temperature can be adjusted as necessary by the user through their neural interface device or by verbally instructing the onboard Artificial Intelligence to adjust the value for climate control.
- Automatic Gyrostabilisation: Every system within the of Powered Exoskeleton Armour is equipped with an Automatic Gyrostabilisation System which aids in the wearer maintaining optimal balance when lifting heavy loads held away from the body such as manipulating heavy weaponry or shifting large amounts of debris. In addition, the Automatic Gyrostabilisation system makes it difficult for them to be tripped or otherwise fall over without it being the wearer's intention. Automatic Gyrostabilisers can be set to a fixed axis and in combination with the Servo-Motors being locked can keep an occupant upright when unconscious for example when falling asleep. Making it useful for keeping the illusion of fixed defensive positions being manned when a unit is under-strength.
- Flex-Armour Bodysuit: Constructed from an Impervium-Ceramic Weave all wearers of the Titan Series Powered Exoskeleton Armour are required to wear a Flex-Armour Bodysuit for effective integration with the Exoskeleton as it features several wireless contact points to help communicate the wearer's desired movements into tangible locomotion firstly, and second the Bodysuit serves to protect the wearer's body and organs from the internal wiring and moving mechanical parts. The Bodysuit is significantly heavy and does confer onto the wearer protection from being electrocuted or burned as it is constructed from insulative materials with a Duravlex coating and can successfully prevent penetration from intermediate calibre high-velocity slugthrowers. The Bodysuit Contains an Environmental Control System that helps regulate the wearer's body temperature at peak thermal comfort and has a thermal gel-layer sandwiched into its' construction to absorb any excessive kinetic energy not successfully dispersed by the Outer Shell.
- Integrated Communication Helmet: The Powered Exoskeleton Helmet is equipped with cutting edge technology including a fully-functioning helmet-mounted display created by holographic diodes placed throughout its' interior. The Powered Exoskeleton Helmet's eye lenses are constructed from glasteel which is harder than transparisteel and is incredibly resistant to penetration by both Directed Energy Weapons and Ballistic Weapons, most personnel familiar with its' testing data regard penetration of its' eye lenses as impossible. The Helmet features a redundant digital comlink antennae within a EMP hardened compartment to ensure that communication isn't disrupted.
- Macromotion Monitor: The Titan is equipped with a Photonic Macromotion Monitor which tracks the movement and behaviour of Photons in an omnidirectional radius of twenty-five meters feeds information to the onboard artificial intelligence which shifts through the data with frightening speed and allows the Synthetic Intelligence or Organic pilot to track organic and inorganic contacts of interests. Generally speaking, a contact moving at a slower speed than a Human walking at a brisk pace will usually not be flagged by the A.I as suspicious and subsequently displayed on the helmet-mounted display.
- Motion-Assist Servo Motors: Throughout the Powered Exoskeleton Armour is a series of Electrically-Powered Motion-Assisting Servomotors that give the Exoskeleton its' load-bearing qualities and provide the Powered Exoskeleton Armour with its' considerable lifting power permitting the wearer to lift not only themselves while interred within the armour but also potentially another soldier wearing the same Powered Exoskeleton or significantly heavy weapons that might be designed specifically for use by Troops equipped with the Armour.
- Neural Interface Device: Each suit of Powered Exoskeleton Armour is equipped with a wireless neural interface device that communicates with the neural lace implanted into the Pilot's nervous system. The Neural Interface Device provides unparalleled control over the Powered Exoskeleton to the Pilot and is crucial for an organic to operate the Powered Exoskeleton Armour, it additionally permits a high amount of dexterity and agility transferring the wearer's thoughts into action eliminating any input lag, on the downside this opens up the user to the potential of Psychosomatic injuries.
- Outer Shell: The Powered Exoskeleton Armour's Outer Shell is constructed primarily from a lightweight metal laminate reinforced at key stress areas with the outer layer consisting of Duranium, the middle an inert rubber layer with that inner layer of the laminate being constructed from Impervium. The Outer shell is coated with Duravlex and Ultrachrome, the latter being the outermost part of the Shell before paint is applied and is used to conduct through electric current from the onboard Individual Field Disruptor and Electric Armour.
- Power-Multiplying Circuits: The Exoskeleton is equipped with power-multiplying circuitry that boosts the force applied by the wearer, dramatically increasing their effectiveness in hand-to-hand fighting. The Power-Multiplying circuits make the armour difficult to acclimatise to even for its’ augmented wearers, as even the subtlest movements can apply incredible force.
- Waste Recycling System: For prolonged survival in hostile environments the Titan Exoskeleton is equipped with an organic waste recycling system which connects to the wearer via a catheter inserted into the urethra which transfers any excreted urine into an on-board recycling system which purifies secreted waste into pure drinking water for consumption through a drinking straw located within the helmet, this permits a wearer to maintain a hermetic seal within a contaminated environment but the ability to re-hydrate. In addition, the four-litre reservoirs can be filled with clean drinking water prior to deployment so as to store water rations more effectively.
- Titan Series Frame: Every single variant of the Titan Powered Exoskeleton Armour is built and plasma welded upon a common Impervium Frame which facilitates the modular repair and replacement of damaged armour panels in the field with access to workshop tools and materials. It additionally permits customers of Apex Manufacturing to provide their Troops with the most suitable variant for different situations.
The T-Series Advanced Powered Combat Exoskeleton is the third and first successful iteration of the series Exoskeleton, designed and manufactured by Apex Manufacturing. The Exoskeleton shares an outward design architecture with a centuries-old droid platform originally fielded by the Galactic Empire. Apex Manufacturing improved on its' original design as the droid intelligence was unable to intuitively adapt to rapidly changing combat environments or anticipate hostile tactical movement. Apex Manufacturing solved this by turning the design into a manned platform but reduced the pilot's vulnerability by basing the pilot's physiology being one replaced with the REAVER Cybernetic combat system. The T-Series of the Advanced Combat Powered Combat Exoskeleton significantly enhances the wearer's strength, perception, endurance and agility through a mechanically powered exoskeleton.
The design use of REAVER alleviated restrictions placed on the design's safety tolerances allowing for significantly higher performance. The most basic level of the armour system is a flex-armour bodysuit constructed with an impregnated impervium weave with several different sandwiched layers each constructed on the nanometer scale. The bodysuit features, a thermal-gel layer that helps absorb extreme heat and kinetic impact or forces from kinetic or ballistic weapons along with sudden acceleration and deceleration. Functionally, the thermal-gel layer acts as a type of liquid armour behaving like a liquid most of the time except when exposed to mechanical stress at which point it hardens within milliseconds. However, the liquid armour is ineffective at preventing penetration by edged weapons. There are several magnetisable contact points on the Flex-armour bodysuit for connectivity to the battlesuit's onboard computer's environmental control systems.
There are several further protective features implemented into the bodysuit such as a Duravlex outer coating which confers fire retardant and heat-resistant properties, helping to disperse the intense thermal energies generated by the likes of plasma weapons such as blaster to the point where even a shot that completely penetrates the hard-armour will likely only leave the wearer unconscious rather than terminated. The Duravlex coating on the bodysuit also allows the wearer to withstand the heat or Lava and as such can survive submerged in the Exoskeleton in volcanic environments for extended periods of time. An electrically powered exoframe with several access panels hinges open in which the bodysuit-wearing pilot then enters, the second tier of protection for the Exoskeleton that being the hard-armour panels are then magnetically sealed against the frame creating a hermetically-sealed environment.
The Powered Combat Exoskeleton's second-tier of protection is hard armour plates constructed from a formidable electromagnetically-hardened and camouflaged laminate of materials including but not limited to: Armourplast, Duranium, Reflec and Stygian-Triprismatic Polymer. While it doesn't feature a true cloaking system the armour's outer coatings significantly reduce its' electromagnetic emissions making it difficult to detect on the infrared or ultraviolet spectrums. Its' factory black hard armour panels are resistant to extraordinarily high temperatures. If that wasn't enough, the cuirass comes equipped with a deflector shield generator which produces: Ray, Particle and Concussive shields to protect the armour and wearer from damage or injury.
The shield's strength is directly proportional to the formidable battery and can survive significant amounts of kinetic energy, for example, it can take several shots from an anti-material calibre slugthrower to deplete the deflector shield. It is significantly less effective as protecting the wearer from plasma or energy weapons though as a trade-off and as a result the deflector shield can be forced to collapse under sustained blaster fire. Due to the strength of the magnetic fields that contain the likes of electro-plasma blades and lightsabres these melee weapons when coming into contact with the deflector shield tend to result in it being instantly overwhelmed and can inflict serious damage and/or injury upon the wearer. There are significant and other exploitable flaws however, such as the shield not interdicting low-velocity objects and projectiles which could be exploited to attack the wearer in melee or with hand-held explosives.
There are several mechanisms with which the T-series Powered Exoskeleton's wearers can be treated medically without vacating the armoured frame or their bodysuit, there exist on the bodysuit cannula in-line ports which can be connected to the wearer's vestigial circulatory system such as the Jugular and Subclavian veins and used for the infusion of medications. The ports are usually shielded and can be opened with hand tools and cycled open by the wearer through thoughts passed across the neural interface device. The bodysuit also features redundant adhesive pads that fixate to the wearer's spine to directly input electrical commands into the powered exoskeleton at the speed of light, creating a reaction time that to an observer would appear almost clairvoyant.
Equipped with electric-force multiplying circuits the wearer's already terrifying strength, speed and lifting power is significantly enhanced and augmented by the exoskeleton's frame. A REAVER-equipped operator wearing a Titan Exoskeleton can throw a closed-fist strike at about 135.0 meters per second and hit their target with an excess of 227,719 kilograms of force, in short, the wearer could punch someone with the force of two-hundred and seventy-seven metric tons sufficient to utterly obliterate the hard and soft tissue of any humanoid organic species in the galaxy. The sheer strength is sufficient that even Beskar-alloyed armour has been noted to deform under the strain. Survival in combat is dictated not only by strength and protection but also mobility and the T-series Advanced Powered Combat Exoskeleton has it in spades, despite its' colossal weight, a complex array of high-quality servo-motors and its' wearers augmented nature allow the manned Exoskeleton to reach runnings speeds of around 96 kilometres per hour.
Strategic and tactical mobility is provided by a pair of boots which are equipped with an ion drive each allowing the Exoskeleton and its' wearer to achieve flight in the atmospheric and exoatmospheric environment, unfortunately, given the Ionic nature of the flight, these emissions are difficult to conceal and easily detectable with most sensors. Without the servos of the armour locked, the exoskeleton can safely sustain flight in a standard gravity field of about 1,080 kilometres per hour fast enough to interdict certain starfighters. With the servos locked, the Exoskeleton and its' pilot can achieve supersonic speeds allowing the suits to rapidly redeploy across theatres to where needed independent of transport. The Exoskeleton, thanks to its propulsion, material construction and Duravlex coating can sustain atmospheric penetration and exit and allow its' wearer to survive falls from high-orbit with servo-locks and low-orbit without servo-locks albeit not without damage to the Exoskeleton in either case and potential injury to the wearer.
For operational endurance, the Titan Exoskeleton's helmet sports a shielded closed-circuit rebreather that prevents acids or debris from entering the suit and additionally the helmet and exoskeleton as a whole features a vital gas recycling system where waste gases passed by the wearer are purified and reused allowing the wearer to operate in a chemically, biologically, radiologically or nuclear contaminated environment. Survival and operation within a vacuum can be sustained for several hours at the least. The user's urine can also be recycled and purified into drinking water, this is achieved by connecting the wearer through the bodysuit to a catheter that runs into a recycling reservoir stored within the Exoskeleton which converts the waste product into drinking water.
Strengths:
- Agility: Built on an electric exoskeleton system as opposed to a bulky hydraulic type the system mimics the Human or Near-Human physiology for maximum comfort and range of motion, as a result the Mk. III is extraordinarily agile and its' joints replicate in detail the range of motion of their pilot.
- Autonomous Platform: The Titan Exoskeleton is a completely autonomous platform that comes equipped with a sophisticated artificial intelligence that can problem-solve and has limited capacity to learn from its' environment in regards to combat and tactics. It can be deployed alone as a droid asset, however, when acting autonomously they tend to move with significantly less speed and agility when manned by a living pilot. Additionally, when the pilot is unconscious for any reason the Droid Intelligence can evacuate them to safety or engage in combat to protect them from threats. The Intelligence of each droid brain is programmed to protect their pilot to the exclusion of all other life if necessary.
- Bodysuit: The Titan Exoskeleton comes with a vacuum-sealed environmentally-controlled bodysuit, this bodysuit contains several layers of material and one of these layers is constructed from thermal gel which hardens and changes its' material characteristics when kinetic energy is applied to it, this protects the wearer from hydrostatic shock and the effects of kinetic attacks. It also has the added benefit of allowing the wearer to survive colossal falls such as that from low-orbit when combined with a servo-lock.
- Deflector Shield Generator: Every Titan Exoskeleton comes equipped with a personal deflector shield generator, it generates a field that contains a ray, particle and atmospheric friction shield allowing it to interdict incoming kinetic and energy threats, it is very resilient and sophisticated capable of absorbing tremendous punishment. Shots from blaster pistols that hit angled plates protected by the Deflector Shield can ricochet off the shield's surface. The shield is so resilient that it can withstand the forces that would be experienced if it were to be directly struck by a shoulder-fired anti-personnel rocket although no more than one.
- Electro-magnetic pulses: Due to its' electronics being shielded by sufficiently dense materials the Titan Exoskeleton is heavily resistant to the effects of electromagnetic pulses and was specifically designed with resisting military-grade munitions that are designed to cripple or disable electronic hardware in mind, including devices such as grenades that can be physically attached to the chassis.
- Frame Opening: There are several opening points on the Exoskeleton's frame which can swivel and pivot open allowing the designated pilot to quickly enter or evacuate from the Titan Exoskeleton, this is helpful if the frame is in the "doomed" state or where the pilot needs to evacuate as a matter of tactical expediency. It dramatically increases pilot survivability where the Exoskeleton is heavily damaged or otherwise stricken. However, the frame cannot cycle its' hermetic seal and open or close where the powerplant is disconnected or otherwise offline.
- Individual Field Disruptor: Equipped with an individual field disruptor the Titan Exoskeleton can successfully navigate obstacles constructed from ray, particle, atmospheric or concussive shields as when activated they create a charged sheath around the system allowing passage through, which is especially useful in boarding actions where some warships use ray shields to try and control the movements of boarders.
- Inertia Dampening: The exoskeleton due to its' rather compact size does not come equipped with an inertial compensator however the thermal gel implemented into its' design was originally designed to protect drop pod occupants from acceleration and deceleration and thus can protect the Titan Exoskeleton wearer from acceleration due to Gravity to a massive 270 times that of a standard gravitational field. While this may sound impressive, such forces can be experienced by the Exoskeleton where it is brought to a sudden halt in-atmosphere at its' maximum speed or manoeuvres.
- Lifting Power: A user of the REAVER Cybernetic Weapon System wearing this powered combat exoskeleton could, in theory, lift a 90 kilograms boulder (200 .lbs) and hurl it at a distance where the thrower to the naked Human Eye would appear as a smudge with sufficient force when it hits a several hundred-kilogram target such as a Wookie right off of their feet. The exoskeleton's lifting power and strength is so gargantuan that it could easily pry open starship grade bulkhead doors with pressures equal to or greater than 3,300 pounds per square inch open with little difficulty. The exoskeleton by extrapolation from these examples could easily throw a Human Man with about as much difficulty as that man might pitch a tennis ball.
- Radiation Shielding: The Exoskeleton is shielded against high-energy short-wavelength radiation emissions such as microwave, x-ray or gamma radio emissions, this also has the added benefit that the exoskeleton does not emit much if any infrared or radio signature outside of when its' actively making radio transmissions. This has two clear advantages: It protects the wearer's organic parts from ionizing radiation and it effectively camouflages the exoskeleton's own radiation emissions from sensors. Curiously, this has the quirk of making the suit appear invisible on "lifeform scanners" leading many to observe it would make you think that the wearer was dead or the suit is unpiloted.
- Servo-lock: The Exoskeleton has a number of hinge-joints and these hinge-joints can be locked by the onboard Artificial intelligence to keep the wearer upright when they fall unconscious either due to sleep, injury or any other reason. The platform's droid intelligence can also assume control of the Exoskeleton when the pilot is unconscious and unable to care for their own wellbeing.
- Stature: While many might think this speaks for itself, it comes with another not so obvious benefit in that the pilot's limbs do not necessarily correspond to the exoskeleton's limb location, for example, due to its' height many pilot's legs will only be above the knee and their arms above the elbow. This control is achieved through the exoskeleton being equipped with a neural interface and peripheral devices inside the suit of armour.
- Termination: The sheer physical stature and power of the Mk. III Advanced Powered Combat Armour makes it extraordinarily formidable in hand-to-hand fighting to the point where the Mk. III Advanced Powered Combat Exoskeleton can easily tear an adult Human man's arm off their torso or send a clenched first crashing straight through the sternum and crush the thoracic organs beneath.
- Tactical mobility: The Mk. III Advanced Powered Combat Armour is equipped with a pair of rocket boosters in its' lower limbs' in the base of the boots, these can generate staggering amounts of thrust and accelerate the powered combat armour and its' wearer to several times the speed of sound in a standard atmosphere, allowing the operator or the suit itself to shift its' deployment extraordinarily rapidly, without assistance and without warning. This makes it extremely useful for very rapid deployment, their speed of deployment extends to Exoatmospheric conditions and the suit and its' wearer are capable of entering and breaking the atmosphere independently without further equipment.
- Augmentation Requirement: There are inherent dangers in operating the Mk. III Advanced Powered Combat Exoskeleton such as the forces exerted upon the wearer's body, this was a concession in the design to avoid making the exoskeleton a full-on droid as the requirements for agility, problem-solving and decision making left no other choice than to find a way to implement an organic nervous system. Thus, ideally, the system must be manned by personnel who have received the total body Cybernetic prosthesis known as REAVER.
- Auto-Titan: Despite being capable of functioning effectively autonomously the artificial intelligence's ability to learn and improvise is curtailed for safety reason, it adheres very closely and rigidly to its' programming and even though it has limited creativity. When fighting as an autonomous unit without a pilot they are never as effective than when they are being actively manned.
- Anti-tank mines: While the Titan Exoskeleton might be capable of surviving or resisting the effects of mines that would normally disable personnel, they are so heavy and therefore trigger concealed anti-tank mines that are activated by pressure. Anti-tank mines generally have an extremely powerful charge that would be capable of inflicting serious damage onto the Titan Exoskeleton, up until the point of dismemberment depending on the nature and size of explosive.
- Battlefield Damage: Given that it is an extraordinary power and exotic piece of equipment, damage to its' hardware will naturally lead to malfunctioning and in operation should sufficient damage be inflicted. Catastrophic damage to the powered exoskeleton such as crush damage or limb dismemberment cannot be repaired by its' onboard limited self-repair mechanisms.
- Crush Depth: While the Exoskeleton is fully capable of operating while submerged it has a rated "test depth" which should not be exceeded under peaceful conditions and a "crush depth" where the Exoskeleton is calculated to explode submerged in water solution on a world with standard atmosphere and gravity. The test depth of the exoskeleton is about 1,800 meters and the corresponding crush depth is around 3,200 meters at which point the exoskeleton should give way and be crushed by the water pressure.
- Deadly acceleration: Accelerating too quickly using the rocket boots can cause injuries to the user such as spinal compression and thus the wearers of the Mk. III Advanced Powered Combat Exoskeleton must take extreme care in flight so as to not injure themselves with acceleration forces such as that from their boots or from other atmospheric factors such as wind resistance. Its' rated climb speed in a standard atmosphere at standard gravity should not be exceeded, the higher the value for gravity the slow the safe rate of climb.
- Doomed state: In the event that the Advanced Powered Combat Exoskeleton's Nuclear MicroFusion battery is breached or sufficiently damaged, the Exoskeleton generally begins venting bright azure-coloured plasma from exhausts on the rear of the cuirass, in such an event the MicroFusion battery itself becomes exposed a well placed shot with most blaster rifles to the battery in this state will cause the battery to detonate in a miniature "clean" thermonuclear explosion that produces no nuclear fallout with a yield of about 72 metric tons of TNT.
- Individual Field Disruptor: When activated, the Individual Field Disruptor disables the exoskeleton's deflector shield for the duration that the individual field disruptor is active leaving the exoskeleton and its' wearer at an elevated vulnerability.
- Lightsabres: While its' material properties make it an extremely sturdy and resilient platform it simply isn't strong enough to resist contact with a lightsabre's blade, even the far more simple electro-plasma weapons can find themselves penetrating easily through the armoured shell.
- Melee Weapons: The Deflector Shields aren't triggered by any objects moving slower than thirty meters per second and as a result melee weapons generally bypass the Deflector Shields entirety and permit a potential attacker to target sensitive areas such as the abdominal space between the thoracic region and pelvis or the throat. This also means that the wearers are highly vulnerable to being struck by moving vehicles moving slower than 108 km/h or shrapnel and large debris from explosives.
- Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation: While the armour system is hardened against electromagnetic pulses and electric attacks, due to the suit's relationship with the wearer's nervous system through the neural interface these attacks have a chance to induce a psychosomatic "Neuro-muscular incapacitation" where the motor nerve and sensory nerve systems are painfully overloaded or paralysed, in these situations its' possible for the autonomous droid intelligence to take over but doesn't change the fact it can momentarily or intermittently paralyse the suit and its' wearer. Because of the relationship between Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation and Psychosomatic Injuries, while resistant it is possible to "stun" the wearer through the exoskeleton with a capable blaster.
- No Escape: When submerged at great depth the exterior pressure being applied to the exoskeleton makes it impossible for the armour panels on the frame to swing open and clear the wearer meaning that it generally at extreme depth submerged in a solution like water the wearer won't be able to evacuate rapidly should something go arie.
- Psychosomatic injuries: By virtue of having their nervous system connected to the armour, superficial or non-penetrating damage to the armour can send painful feedback and stimuli through the wearer's central nervous and sensory nervous system. These injuries most often manifest through painful rashes and inflammation across the skin or even as bruising as capillaries structures throughout the skin burst.
- Sonics: Due to the nature of Sonic Weaponry they completely bypass the Battlesuit's Deflector Shields and strike the armour and its' wearer even if fully charged conversely as they do not trigger the Deflector shields they do not deplete them either which is somewhat of a saving grace.
