- Advanced Targeting: The Thoth employs an advanced targeting and rangefinder system making it extremely accurate across long distances.
- Alternate Munitions: This weapon can alternate between Rockets, Missiles and Torpedo class munition
- Belt Fed: The Missiles and rockets fired by the Thoth are machine fed via internal mechanisms.
- Blast Funnel: Channels of blast plating surrounding the ammunition to reduce damage from explosions.
- Class Scalable: This weapon can be equipped to Turrets or ships from military freighters of Cruiser and upward.
- EM Rails: Like many of the House Aquila weapons, the Thoth supports an EM rail for more rapid swiveling.
- External Ports: The Mk. IV benefits from external ports allowing it to attach to external power.
- HUD Compatible: The Thoth is able to connect to HUD and display systems.
- Hybrid Damage: This weapon deals an incredible amount of Kinetic damage as well as another type.
- Ion Shielded: This weapons Ultrachrome B plating protects it from ion weapons.
- Shielded: The Thoth employs a CROSS in addition to any other shields the ship has.
- Two Stage Flight: Projectiles fired by the Thoth can fly considerable distance before engaging thrusters.
- Ultrachrome B Plating: The outer plating of this weapon is strong synthetic Ultrachrome.
- Two Stage Deployment: The Thoth is capable of firing a missile like a standard platform with the rocket igniting its engine and taking off as normal. However, the electromagnetic coils which surround the weapon can be charged to launch the missile first more like a mass driver allowing the missile to engage afterwards in order to fly over much greater distances than other standard launchers. This charge of the coils can be altered via the system to alter the distance the rocket is projected.
- Rain of Fire: The Mk. IV is able to fire a salvo of missiles in up to 10 missile salvos for each unit, using full sized larger class guided missiles or torpedoes and charges in light of other systems which fire rockets. More integrated systems can alter the locations of each of the two five missile nests but they always come in ten.
- Variations: The Thoth comes in four sizes The Sigma, for firing missiles as large as would be launched by personal missile launchers to destroy tanks. The Mu, for standard vehicle size munitions, perfect for missile gunships or tanks to destroy buildings, interceptor missiles or key locations. The Lambda for Capitol Ship class warfare, with missiles capable of damaging other capital ships. Then finally Omicron, huge missile batteries to be the primary weapon of battle-cruiser class and higher missile ships.
- Shielded: To defend itself the weapon, using its own excess energy while charging employs a CROSS one way shield system in conjunction with any other shields which may surround the ship or fortification that its situated on in order to protect it from heavy weapons.
- Swift Swivel: This weapon employs an EM Rail system allowing it to acquire and track targets far faster than the slower mechanical or hydraulic swivels used by other weapons systems. This combined with advanced targeting systems allow it to always be ready to fire.
WEAKNESSES
- Ion Prone: While the system itself is protected from Ion and EMP charges due to the ultrachrome plating, the shield however is not, making the weapon itself exceedingly vulnerable to follow up attacks.
- Chain Reaction: Should a Thoth unit be destroyed with thermal weapons, there is a chance the ammunition cache could be hit and destroyed. While there are explosion shields and funnels built into the chamber which would restrict 'some' of the damage, it would do structural damage to the surrounding ship.
- Munition Dependent: The Thoth is dependent on the use of space consuming ammunition in order to function. Which, in even with the best stocked bays is still a limited amount. Short of being accompanied by a supply ship, the missiles will run out due to the system's rate of fire and reload.
- Heavy as Sin: Mk IV Thoth units are rather weighty in the scale of launchers, causing them to require to be key features unless they're of a class lower than the ship or system they are equipped to.
DESCRIPTION
The Thoth launcher was in fact built in order to accompany house Aquilas' creation of the Kingfisher missile. The aim of the launcher was to develop a missile launcher system which could fire projectiles over incredible ranges in order to sync with the long range theme of the other weapons in the House Aquila arsenal. The launcher was marketed alongside the missile as the primary best launcher to couple with the kingfisher as well as other munitions like the little chirp.
The weapon itself is a two launcher bays which each contain five missiles. The Battery as a whole is contained internally on any system, either as a system of 10 missile tubes for totally internal systems. Or the Thoth exists as a collapsible unit stored inside a blast hatch which can be deployed externally as a turret should it be required in order to keep it safe from external assault in case of short range danger to the system, and therefore the ship.
Some unfortunate shortfalls included the standard Ion weakness shared in CROSS installments as well as being munitions dependent.
