  • Image Source: My own artwork
  • Canon Link: n/a
  • Permissions: Permission to use Valkeri enterprises
  • Primary Source: n/a

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

  • Manufacturer: Valkeri enterprises
  • Affiliation: Sayuri Hatoko
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: n/a
  • Modularity: no
  • Production: Unique
  • Material:
    • Phrik on outside of shield disc
    • Electrical components
    • Leather inside surface
    • aluminium
    • steel
    • rubber

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Classification: Buckler/emitter shield
  • Weight: (Please choose a weight between Heavy - phrik is a dense material so it is on the heavier side compared to other bucklers
  • Resistances:
    • Lightsabers: Extreme
    • Energy: Very High
    • Kinetic: High
    • Disruptor: High
    • Emp/Ion: Low
    • Radiation: Low

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • 10 inch diameter phrik plated hub containing shield emitter hardware and a circular shield emitter on its circumference
  • Energy shield projects out to a distance of a further 5 inches, creating a usable diameter of 20 inches
  • Shield is designed to deploy extremely rapidly and can be either set for deployment and retracting by pulling a trigger on the inner handle or simply toggled to on or off with a switch on the inner surface.
  • Power packs inside the shield allow for several hours of continuous use and are designed to be recharged from similar power ports to common blasters. The power packs can be replaced but it required unscrewing of the protective panel so in combat replacement is not practical.
  • Leather straps keep the shield attached to wrist, and hand grip allows control. A magnet is also embedded that can be used for stowing the shield. The shield can also be slid further up the arm closer to the elbow to help free upthe hand in not in use.

STRENGTHS

  • Designed of Force user combat: The phrik hub and the lightsaber calibrated shield emitter make the shield perfect for lightsaber defence while still providing very good defence against combatants using less civilised weapons.
  • Quick shield: The energy shield deploys and retracts very quickly, functionally only being limited by the reaction speed of the user when on trigger activation mode.

WEAKNESSES

  • Directional protection: As a buckler shield, it only provides protection if it is between the user and the attacker.
  • Busy hands: While the shield will stay attached to the wrist while not in use, using it in combat effectively does occupy the hand.

DESCRIPTION

Sayuri had not intended on studying the Orron form, but when picking up a training saber and a small buckler as a child it felt natural to her.

After several years studying the style she commissioned and had Valkeri build her a custom shield to her own specifications. The phrik core provided a decent level of protection even when the shield was not activated, but with a tiny gesture the shield can project out to the full diameter. The shields is calibrated to provide best defence against light sabers, as befitting a tool for a Jedi, subsequently it is also useful for defending energy weapons. Kinetic weapons can be blocked by the shield, but it has no way of absorbing the Kinetic impact so a sufficient strike could injure the arm carrying the shield.

Unfortunately, due to the requirements for fitting power units and shield emitters inside the shield, the ionic and radiation protection provided to the shield is less than would be expected considering the dense phrik construction material.
