- Name: Daemonium
- Designation: Semi-Sentient
- Origins: Dathomir I Dagobah
- Average Lifespan: 150 years
- Estimated Population: Scattered
- Description: It's really hard to decipher what is their actual body and what is collected from the swamps and forests that have been incorporated to their body. What can be determined is they possess very big, bulbous yellow eyes, that seem to glow in the darkness. They have long, vine-like tentacles that dangle from their chin area.
- Breathes: Type I, Type II
- Average Height of Adults: Seventeen Meters - Males, Fourteen Meters - Females
- Average Length of Adults: N/A
- Skin color: Green
- Hair color: Bald
- Distinctions:
- Males: Males tend to have longer, thicker tenacles, whilst having a more massive frame. As they age, the males begin to turn a lighter shade of green, with a greyish hue; and their tentacles begin to wither in length. On their hands, they have six fingers.
- Females: Unlike their male counterparts, they possess shorter and thinner tentacles, and whilst the males have six fingers; females only have three. The females tend to be on the thinner side, though it is difficult to confirm because of the collecting and adding of swamp and forest materials to the body. Females age better than the males, as their skin begins to take an almost luminescence aspect, while their tentacles remain unchanged.
- Races: N/A
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
- Super Strength: They have a strength unrivaled by any land species, with a few exceptions obviously.
- Mind Readers: The species have the ability to read the thoughts of other sentients, semi-sentients, and non-sentients.
- Slumbering Walkers: They lack speed, moving at a snail's pace. Thier lack of a high locomotion makes them easy targets for hungry predators.
- Hot-Tempered: The species are quick to anger, and with their hulking size and strength, can pose many problems for those caught in the midst of their temper tantrum.
- Territorial: The species is highly territorial. They don't kind to strangers or interlopers freely walking among their territory, and less so that come into their 'villages'; for the exception of those allowed to come for trading purposes.
- Diet: Herbivore
- Communication: They can speak and understand a basic concept of Galactic Basic. Mostly they communicate through their own language, which is not understandable by those outside their species.
- Technology level: Less than Galactic Standard.
- Religion/Beliefs: N/A
- General behavior:
- Dwellings: The Daemonium live in swamps and forests, and much of their dwellings involve living in massive caves, in underground maze-like caverns, or in shoddy designed 'villages' within the swamp and forest areas. They don't have much in the way of technology or architectural prowess, so what passes as huts or houses in these villages are nothing more than a combination of mud and other debris infused hovels.
- Agricultural Excellence: They are strictly herbivores and are excellent farmers with extensive knowledge of raising crops.
- Family Units: The Daemonium don't believe in the philosophy of family life. Each newborn is raised jointly by the tribe, a term more fitting to their collective well-being, and once the youngster reaches a mature enough age, they are now expected to do their part among the tribe. As such, there is no concept of marriage, and the only sign of any affection between the males and females is through procreation.
- Tribal Responsibilities: Within each tribe, whether it's in the open areas of swamps or forests, inside caves, or underground in the caverns; there is only two main jobs within; farmers and gatherers. The farmers sole responsibility is to grow and cultivate the crops, whilst the gatherers are responsible for gathering non-meat-based foods that cannot be sowed and reaped.
- Trading: The Daemonium have adopted an isolation lifestyle, however, they will from time-to-time trade with outsiders. Their trading skills are not the best; the only main product they have to trade are the produce from farming and gathering; and occasionally trading away items they previously traded for.
- Pacifists: Outside the ill-mannered tempers and their views on outsiders, the Daemonium are extremely pacifist when it comes to fighting or war. Outside of defending their 'villages', caves, or underground caverns, they seek to avoid conflict with others.
- No Hierarchy: Each tribe is collectively running as one cohesive unit. There is no one leader in charge, as they live in what could only be labeled a democratic society.
The species known as Daemonium were discovered thousands of years ago by the early explorers of the planet Dathomir, and the discovery of the species even came as a surprise to the various Nightsister Covens and Clans; for the Daemonium were so isolated on the planet, their existence was unknown even to the Sisters prior to their discovery. The first meeting between the Daemonium and the early explores was met with a mixture of hostility and confusion; mainly on the part of the species themselves who, due to their own self-isolation, believed they were the only species on the planet (a term, like the term galaxy, which was unknown to them and later explained by the explorers).
There was, obviously, a language barrier between the species and the explorers, the former in possession of a language that was untranslatable or teachable, the latter due in part to the species objecting to such a concept. So, the explorers, and a few of the Nightsisters from the neighboring village, sought to teach Galactic Basic to the species, who possessed a symbol of semi-sentience. And in turn, the original discovered species taught the Nightsisters a better understanding and technique to farming, and to the explorers they opened up their first attempts to trading.
Throughout this entire interaction, one woman named Dr. Jalaice H'as'on, cataloged and recorded the ordeal; later this would be useful on a later exploration to another planet; Dagobah. where Dr. H'as'on would be there for the discovery of the same species, yet on a different planet. Since the Daemonium didn't record their own history, it is still a mystery how this species is on two separate planets, miles apart from one another. Another mystery surrounding the Daemonium was their need to collect swamp or forest debris and add it to their body. It is unclear if they do it appear bigger to ward off bigger predators or if it is done as a vanity or status position among the tribe.
The Daemonium, over the years, remained isolated in their lives, trading with the Nightsister village close by, however, the galaxy was always changing. The first of three major events that directly affected the Daemonium was the Great Galactic War, where both Jedi and Sith, along with the Republic and Sith armies, wound up on Dathomir, fighting over the occupation of the planet. The Jedi, upon meeting the Daemonium, were fascinated by them; manily thier ability to readminds; which was the first documented report of the Daemonium having this ability. The Daemonium helped the Jedi and the Republic by supplying them produce and helping them traverse through the Daemonium territories. Even with their outlook on outsiders, the Daemonium liked the Jedi.
Unlike the Jedi, the Sith were different in their views of the Dathomirian species. The Sith saw the species in two spectrums, the first being their size and amazing strength. The Sith sought to exploit these attributes, by trying to weaponize the hulking species. The second, as they discovered like the Jedi before them, was the Daemonium's ability to read minds. The Sith, once again, sought to use the species as a weapon; in this case as living lie-detectors against captured soldiers and other Republic personnel. Luckily, for the Daemonium, the Jedi were able to defeat the Sith, and for the Daemonium, life went back to normal.
The second event was the invasion of Dathomir by General Grievious during the Clone Wars, where the metal General had been ordered by Count Dooku to destroy the Nightsisters. The Daemonium's involvement to aid the Nightsisters where short lived, as most of the Covens and Clans close to the Daemonium were decimated or destroyed during the invasion. The surviving Nightsisters fled the areas, leaving the Daemonium to be the sole occupants of the territory. For the first time, truly, the Daemonium were alone and isolated.
The third event was during the occupation of Dathomir by Imperial forces during the Imperial Era. During this period of time, the Daemonium took a more direct approach in helping the Nightsisters, who had waged open war against the Imperial oppressors. The Daemonium would allow the Nightsisters to temproarily use their caves, underground caverns, and 'villages' as base of operations to strike against the Imperials. Also, they would allow Nightsisters and Jedi fleeing both the Imperials and Inquisitors to hide out among the caves and underground caverns, which was almost fatal for the species, for this now led to their own personal discovery of their only true rival on Dathoimr; The Nardithi Nightsisters. The Nardithi Nightsisters during Dathomir's Imperial occupation aided the Inquisitors and imperials in hunting down not just any hiding Jedi, but any dissident or rebellious Nightsister wanted by the occupiers. The Daemonium and Nardithi Nightsisters have a hated love for one another; even after hundreds of years since the Imperial occupation had been culled.
The Daemonium now live in their secluded territories, free to live their lives as peacefully as possible; only with the occasional interference by the Nardithi Nightsisters. For the other Covens and Clans, as well as some approved outsiders, a bond was formed through the concept of trade. Unlike the Nardithi Nightsisters, the rest of Dathomir respect the privacy and isolation of the Daemonium.
