TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Alchemic Nexus Core – "Heart of Aegis"
    • A ritual-powered shield matrix that enables a massive energy barrier capable of protecting multiple ships in close formation. Requires synchronized activation by Chorus Units.
  • Cradle of Null
    • A cathedral-like chamber housing the Heart of Aegis. Functions as a ritual space where Chorus Units chant to initiate and sustain the fleet-wide shield.
  • Chorus Units
    • Artificially engineered Force-sensitive constructs designed specifically to interface with the alchemical nexus. They operate in trance to maintain metaphysical harmony and field stability.
  • Shield Song Protocols
    • Specialized chanting patterns that modulate the shield for different threat types—kinetic, energy, or psychic. Can be swapped mid-battle by experienced conductors.
  • Over-Shield Harmonic Amplifier
    • A secondary resonator array that scales and distributes the shield field across multiple allied vessels. Works in tandem with Chorus Units' psychic output.
  • Echoform Neural Chorus Interface (ENCI)
    • Bio-cybernetic system that links all Chorus Units into a unified neural lattice, allowing them to maintain stable harmonic chant and receive battlefield data in real-time.
  • Ritual Feedback Dampeners
    • Specialized converters that absorb metaphysical strain from intense or disrupted chant cycles, preventing catastrophic psychic backlash to the ship and crew.
  • Holocron Relay Conduits
    • Secure arcane-tech interface linking the ship's systems with encrypted Sith holocrons containing the sacred shield rites and resonance sequences.
  • Field Fracture Compensation Array
    • Emergency subsystem that attempts to temporarily stabilize the fleet shield if the Chorus is disrupted or if a section of the formation comes under overwhelming fire.
  • Fleet Link Synchronization Node
    • A coordination system that allows allied ships within range to synchronize their defensive frequencies with the Mithradites shield field, enhancing mutual protection.
STRENGTHS
  • Fleet-Wide Shield Projection: Through ritual activation by Chorus Units and the Heart of Aegis, the vessel can project a powerful, harmonically-stabilized energy shield over an entire fleet formation, drastically increasing the survivability of nearby allied ships.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ritual Vulnerability: The fleet-wide shield requires synchronized chanting by Chorus Units within the Cradle of Null; disruption of the ritual—through psychic interference, boarding actions, or the death of the Chorus—can collapse the shield entirely and leave the fleet exposed.
DESCRIPTION
The Model 893.02 "Cataphract" Class Star Shield represents a significant shift in the Sith Eternal's approach to fleet warfare. Recognizing the limitations of traditional shielding technologies in multi-ship engagements, the Sith Eternal sought to develop a defensive platform that could provide total strategic cover for entire battlegroups. Inspired by the ancient cataphract cavalry—armored knights who formed the impenetrable core of ancient battle formations—this vessel serves as the metaphysical equivalent: a bastion that shields the vulnerable with unyielding force. Designed in limited production due to the complexity of its construction and ritual systems, the Cataphract is deployed only at the center of high-priority formations where the loss of command vessels or fleet cohesion would be catastrophic.

At the heart of the Cataphract lies the Heart of Aegis, a Sith alchemical nexus that does not function through circuitry or computational protocols, but through living ritual. To activate the ship's defining capability—a fleet-wide metaphysical shield—a specialized unit of Chorus Units must enter a state of synchronized trance within the Cradle of Null, a cathedral-like chamber buried deep in the vessel's armored spine. These Chorus Units are not traditional Sith, but engineered, Force-sensitive constructs—grown in bio-synthetic wombs and embedded with harmonic interface nodes that allow them to sustain chant-based resonance with the Heart of Aegis. Through ritual recitation of ancient Sith hymns, they awaken the nexus and generate a protective barrier capable of enveloping dozens of ships within a vast energy field.

This barrier is not static—it is dynamic, able to be modulated through Shield Song Protocols. By altering the chant, the Chorus can shift the shield's properties to better resist specific forms of attack, such as high-yield turbolaser barrages, ion storms, or even certain esoteric psychic weapons. These protocols are maintained by the Echoform Neural Chorus Interface (ENCI)—a networked array that synchronizes the mental state of the Chorus and stabilizes the resonance. Once fully active, the Cataphract's Over-Shield Harmonic Amplifier distributes the field across nearby vessels via the Fleet Link Synchronization Node, allowing them to phase their own shields in rhythm with the central projection. In its ideal configuration, the Cataphract is the indomitable heart of a formation, its shield shimmering across the void like the wings of a war-god.

However, this power comes with profound weaknesses. The Cataphract cannot instantly activate its field—the chanting takes time to initiate, leaving the ship and surrounding fleet exposed for 60–90 seconds. During this phase, the vessel's maneuvering and weapons systems are significantly reduced, and it relies heavily on escort ships for protection. If the ritual is interrupted—by psychic attack, boarding actions, or the death or silencing of the Chorus—the Field Fracture Compensation Array may attempt to stabilize the projection, but even it cannot fully compensate for the collapse of the chant. Moreover, the Chorus themselves, while loyal, are not infallible; malfunctions, memory ghosts, or corruption of their implanted liturgies could cause catastrophic misalignment of the shield.

Structurally, the Cataphract is built for endurance. Its hull combines alusteel and impervium layers with internal bulkheads designed to resist structural feedback from shield failure. It is powered by dual reactors—one dedicated to propulsion and ship functions, the other to maintaining the metaphysical shielding field. Its hangar space is limited, supporting a single starfighter squadron, and most of its interior is devoted to the Cradle of Null and shielding systems. The vessel carries 15,000 crew and 5,000 Sith Legionaries, with 350 escape pods, multiple large lifeboats, and 18,000 metric tons of cargo capacity. With 3 years of consumables, the Cataphract can operate in long-term deployments but is rarely sent without escort due to its highly specialized nature.

The Model 893.02 "Cataphract" is not a brawler, nor a carrier. It is a sentinel. A fortress in motion. A hymn of defiance carved into the void. It excels in holding formations together under overwhelming pressure and enabling aggressive strategies that rely on survivability and cohesion. But it is also a risk—if its song breaks, if its heart falters, the protection it offers collapses. The enemy knows this. And so, when the Cataphract enters the field, the battle becomes not just a contest of firepower—but a test of faith, resolve, and ritual precision.
