DESCRIPTION

The Aegis-Type Mk I Purge Trooper Armor was the first generation of specialized armor issued to the Risen Empire's elite Jedi-hunting units. Developed during the early years of the Purge Initiative, the armor was designed not for subtlety, but for survival and dominance in face-to-face combat with Force users.

Constructed from ultrachrome plating reinforced with shock-absorbing gel padding, the Mk I offers high resistance to both conventional weapons and resistance to lightsaber attacks. Its most distinctive feature—the cortosis-weave gauntlets—allows trained Purge Troopers to parry or clash with lightsabers directly, potentially shorting them out momentarily and buying critical seconds for a kill.

The suit features a basic but reliable helmet system offering HUD functionality, night vision, and encrypted battlefield communications. A power-assisted exoskeleton integrated into the limb joints enhances physical strength, allowing troopers to meet Force-enhanced opponents with brute force.

However, the Mk I has several shortcomings by modern standards. It lacks any active systems to mitigate or counter Force abilities. Against skilled Jedi or Sith wielding the Force at range, Purge Troopers relied purely on tactics and tenacity. Its exposed joints left it vulnerable to focused attacks and made it ill-suited for prolonged field operations.

The Aegis Mk I was eventually phased out and replaced by the more sophisticated Mk II, but it remains in service with second-tier purge units, garrison forces, or recycled into support roles within the Risen military hierarchy. For many veterans, it remains a symbol of the Empire's grim determination to hunt the Jedi wherever they hide.

COWL has had his armor modified to incorporate the modular suppression grid that was developed by the Risen Imperial Armory. He prefers this older model of armor over the newer, and the performance of the suppression grid over the HNDA.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Cortosis-Weave Gauntlets: Can short-circuit lightsabers briefly on physical contact.
  • Helmet System Suite: Includes target tagging, low-light vision, HUD integration, encrypted comms.
  • Power-Assisted Frame: Enhances physical strength and load-bearing capacity for close-quarters confrontations.
  • Environmental Sealing: Basic protection in vacuum and toxic environments.
  • Mounting Hardpoints: Compatible with various Risen-issued support devices (e.g., flamethrowers, breaching tools, backpacks).
  • FDL-series Modular Suppression Grid: Applies passive turbulence in a 10 foot radius around him, but when activated can apply true nullification.
STRENGTHS
  • Lightsaber Defense: Armor plating is reinforced against lightsaber strikes, and cortosis gauntlets offer offensive counters in melee.
  • Enhanced Strength: Power-assisted exoskeleton allows troopers to engage Force users in melee, lift heavy loads, or break through obstacles.
  • Close-Quarters Dominance: The armor is tailored for close, confined environments like ship corridors or urban structures—where Force users have less room to maneuver.
  • FDL-series Modular Suppression Grid: Applies passive turbulence in a 10 foot radius around him, but when activated can apply true nullification.
WEAKNESSES
  • Vulnerable Joints: Articulated areas (underarms, behind knees) remain weak spots against lightsaber thrusts or precise strikes.
  • Bulky & Loud: The armor is heavy and not suited for stealth. Movement generates audible noise, and reduced agility is a problem in open terrain.
  • Not Absolute: Exceptionally powerful Force users may resist partial suppression, especially in passive mode.
  • Extra Porwer: The grid requires additional power packs, which takes up the hardpoint on his back.
