- Heavy Hitter: Like other Cimrab IIs, the Mon Onoma has a large and diverse array of weaponry, making it capable of dishing out great amounts of damage to almost every type of opponent imaginable.
- Bulwark: While the Mon Onoma does not have the Starlight Scutum of most Cimrabs II, it does make great use of multi-layer shielding and exceptionally reinforced hull frame. Unlike other Cimrab IIs, its crew has experimently added mono-molecular armor backing as well as molecular shielding to the cruiser, making it quite capable of absorbing great amounts of damage.
- Fewer Small Craft: The Mon Onoma emphasizes having more weapons than hangars compared to its average contemporary, leading to it carrying fewer starfighters and small craft than its average peer.
- Experimental Craft: The Mon Onoma is not only an academy ship, but a continual experiment as subsequent engineering classes tinker with the base design as they learn to their trade - leading to many enhancements to the ship- but also to many quirks. Its advanced systems aren't fully (or usually correctly) documented, which makes repairing them more difficult as well.
The Mon Onoma is a Cimrab II-class Heavy Cruiser that sees use within the Directorate Fleet as an advanced training vessel, taking on the finest Directorate crews in the last year of their training. Unlike many training vessels within the galaxy, the veteran faculty which runs the Mon Onoma encourages great independence on their student crews, particularly the engineering crews. Students effectively run the vessel with minimal oversight from their instructors. This has led to a wide variety of modifications to the vessel - most of which were initially started to improve the vessel's flight performance - that have made it unique among the Directorate fleet. Notable changes include the removal of the Starlight Scutum in favor of molecular shielding and a Kerts-Bhrg field generator, additional probe/drone launchers to better enable larger target practice sessions by student gunners, the addition of Orontes Sensor Array and a Crystal Gravfield Trap (to better train sensor officers), and mono-molecular armor plate backing. Mon Onoma typically is employed in lower risk missions - such as exploration, rescue, and patrol missions - in order to give its crew good practical experience in running a ship but lessen severe risks. However, there have been times when the academy ship has been rushed into pitched combat when the Directorate is short on vessels in a given area, where it has thus far performed admirably with its unusual crew.
