- Concentrated Defenses: As the ship is designed to engage opponents directly in front of it, most of its defenses are concentrated towards the front, most of the shields' power being concentrated within the frontal sections, along with the heaviest armor plating, to the detriment of the rest of the ship
- Hits Like A Hammer: Outfitted with heavy armament located within the frontal, T-shaped section, the Monarch-class Star Destroyer is capable of dealing out a huge amount of punishment to a target
- Bulwark: Designed to engage targets situated in front of it, the Monarch's forward-facing defenses are notably formidable and difficult to overcome, featuring increased shield strength and extremely heavy armor plating within the forward-facing section
- Horse Blinders: Intended to engage targets in front of itself, all of the Monarch's heavy armaments are located within the frontal, T-shaped section of the ship, except for the anti-air laser cannons, which are distributed throughout its hull. This leaves the Monarch incapable of engaging targets positioned to its sides, or rear

The Monarch-class Star Destroyer is a crisis project, developed in record time utilizing existing technology and cutting corners wherever possible, in order to quickly field fleets of vessels that can hold off against heavily-armed and armored targets. Many of its internal systems are somewhat haphazardly laid out, its corridors a jumble of wiring, pipes and other components, requiring a large crew to maintain and operate as a result.
Initially fielded as a planetary defense ship by various governments throughout the Unknown Regions, especially within the fleets of Bursoll II and Bakura, in the wake of the former's devastation by the Melding Plague and the latter's annexation by the Eternal Empire, an unknown number of these ships have found their way into the hands of various other organizations active throughout the Unknown Regions, most notably the anarchist group known as the Agents of Chaos and recently, the Eclipse Rebellion as well. Smaller numbers of these ships have also been reported to fly under the flags of various criminal organizations as well, such as the notorious Black Sun cartel.
In order to cut down costs and shorten the development time, the Monarch-class was designed utilizing older shielding and weapon systems. In order to mitigate this issue while maintaining cost effectiveness, most of its defenses, along with practically all of its heavy armament, are situated within the frontal, T-shaped section of the ship, around the massive, axially mounted Proton Pulse Cannon, being vulnerable to flanking maneuvers due to significantly weaker defenses and lack of heavy armament throughout the other sections of the ship.
However, despite its drawbacks, the Monarch-class Star Destroyer should not be underestimated. Its formidable frontal defenses and its large amount of heavy weapons can make it an extremely efficient warship, capable of quickly stripping away a target's shields utilizing its large complement of Heavy Ion Cannons, then quickly finishing it off with repeated shots from its Proton Pulse Cannon and Heavy Turbolasers.
