While making his robotic body with Chi, Ji-Ji asked to have swords custom made for himself. Stating that he could carry them were guns were forbidden while also lowering the risk of a misplaced shot. While sound reasoning, Chi still teased him about wanting to be her Yojimbo and this may have influenced much of Mooncutters’ design as well as his own. Naturally the two used the opportunity to show off the design acumen of the Boutique as Ji-Ji’s presence would turn into advertising and fashion statement.
The swords are fashioned from songsteel, a beautiful and highly resilient material while their black hilts are coated with condensed matter to absorb the shock of clashing blades and oscillations from clashing from vibro-weapons. Mooncutters’ mono-molecular edge is backed by an energy ribbon that improves the blade’s follow-through as the wider body of the sword follows the edge’s opening, greatly reducing the strength needed for a penetrating cut while minimizing loss of speed.
