Orbital Installation
Dromund Kaas

The Saiba Group had brokered a deal with the Primeval, in return for defensive satellites for the protection of their territory the huge conglomerate would receive a variety of things. But most of those things were future investments, things that would come one day but wasn’t here at the moment and that was fine with Darell Irani.

Irani had inherited a lot of things and even if he still held a little bit of a tendency to cut corners somewhere, he wasn’t like Ovmar in that regard. He could resist the urge to only look at the nearest cut and break, only wondered about the biggest profit for the recent day.

Saiba was currently in the progress of constructing installations, satellite emplacements and ground foundations that would help with the terraforming of the world.

The Mandalorians had not done it any favors during their short-lived war with the Sith, billions of people, cities, fauna and flora decimated because they hadn’t been interested in waging war the old fashion way. The Sith Lord within Irani could appreciate such butchery, but the businessman in Darell could only shake his head at the pure and utter waste.

In the observatory he would wait for the arrival of another, [member="Mia Monroe"].

His progenitor had made many deals with the former Mandalore, some of which he had inherited from Ovmar himself.

The mining stations on Aeten II, for instance.

Monroe had been receiving a fairly substantial share and just as they had promised… the Mandalorians as a whole had profited from the deal at large, such was the way of those that looked towards the future. It meant that long term investments were all the more profitable when you stuck with them.

Mia was vaguely aware that her deal with Ovmar had passed hands, her concern was not with who held the paperwork but simply that it was honoured, and so far as she could see, it had been. So she'd felt no need to go digging, to see the face of the name attached to [member="Darell Irani"]. Apparently though, he'd felt the need to reach out to her. Between rebuilding her family and developing her own projects she found time to squeeze a meeting in with him.

At Dromund Kaas, of all places. She had a research facility below the planet's surface, built shortly after the apocalypse that Larraq had rained down upon the planet, but she spent very little time there. She had employees for a reason. Her boots echoed softly in the observatory as she moved to stand next to Irani, regarding the planets surface below. There was a darkness around it a wound in the force and it called to her. Perhaps that was why she avoided it so much.

"Dromund Kaas." she said softly "A reminder of the day the Mandalorians stooped to the levels of the Sith for a victory. I fething hate this place." The former Mand'alor dar'manda turned her gaze away from the planet's surface to regard Irani. "Its nice to put a face to a name, Irani."

“Likewise, miss Monroe.”

The reply would come after a thoughtful ponder and before his own gaze met her for a respectful inclination of the head. Eye contact broke soon and Darell once again looked out of the viewport towards the planet proper.

He too could feel the wound in the Force, pulling at him, beckoning to come and bask in the darkness of the Force. Before those Asteroids there had been a gigantic Dark Nexus there, but now? Now it was so much more worse than that. They had needed to utilize droids and workers that were force dead for maximum efficiency.

Otherwise they would have had to spend bucketloads of money just for psychological support before, during and after the fact.

“You might wonder why you are here.” Irani said, getting straight to the point. They would be able to make nice and have some pleasant talk when this was all over.

“I was going to suggest to expand our business relationship when it came to the Mandalorian territories, Mandalore, Concordia, establishing factories and the sort- but I have been notified that your status is slightly more vague these days.”

A pursing of the lips.

“Troubling development, but my contacts could not tell me what happened to Miri Farms.”

Mia gave a derisive snort. Her status was not vague in the slightest, it was very very clear in the sense that it simply did not exist among the mandalorians. Perhaps he was trying to save her feelings by his polite choice of words but he was not to know that the choice to walk away had been her own. Still, she was not here to discuss her life choices. Maybe another time, over a vast quantity of alcohol.

"You can rest assured that Miri Farms remains in my control."

There was something about this man, something that made her unable to take her eyes off him. A stirring in the force, something that screamed 'trouble'. She didn't wholly trust him, but then that wasn't uncommon for her. There were only a handful of people she did trust in this galaxy. "I can't help you with developments within Mandalorian territories, not as I helped Ovmar anyway. I can point you to the right people but after that you're on your own. My influence is no longer existent."

“Your old dealings with Ovmar helped me get a foot in the door.” Irani would reply, leaning against the balustrade. Few companies could say the same in that regard, the Mandalorians were quite… testy when it came to outside interference and corporations.

But a foot in the door was the only thing the businessman had needed to further develop his interests within their territories.

Would Monroe have been able to make the entire deal easier? Undoubtedly. Was it absolutely necessary at this point in time?

Not at all.

Which brought them back to the reason why he had made an appointment with her regardless of her status as Dar’manda, the Ysalamiri and their power. Some Sith would have been trying to poison that well, kill and make it entirely impossible for anyone to use it against them.

But Darell knew a lost cause where he saw one.

The usage had spread too far with amateur cloning enthusiasts already spreading their decrepit spawns onto the Galaxy, annoying, but there was still capital to be made in his opinion.

“I would like to invest in Miri Farms then.” eyes met again. “Ovmar had been meaning to, but you know how he was. Twenty billions plans running alongside each other, never enough time to complete all of them to satisfaction.”

Mia said nothing for a moment, taking her eyes off Irani and looking down at the planet below. Miri farms had been created so she could utilise a resource they had readily available to them. She had created vehicles and vessels with MandalMotors in order to support them in a war against the Sith. Now? Now she turned a blind eye to a war that had gone on for too long. Now she had turned her back on her people. Now she was actually in need of external support, provided, of course, they had similar interests in the future of the galaxy.

"And what, I wonder, do you hope to gain out of such an investment?"

“Profit.”

Was the simple reply that would come back.

It wouldn’t be a fast process, it would probably take a long time before it would bear any fruit. But Darell possessed assets that Monroe did not have, things that could make the entire process of Miri Farms better and more efficient.

Ways to speed up the breeding process and make sure that there would always be a source of Ysalamiri, even if the Mandalorians would try to cut her off from it.

But there was more to it than that, there always was, was Irani planning anything specific with the Ysalamiri right now? Probably not, but he had inherited a singular quality that had been instilled upon him by Ovmar himself.

Always prepare yourself for every situation.

He might not need to weaponize the Ysalamiri even more right now, but that wouldn’t always be the case.

The One Sith can’t win forever, that would be only bad for business.

Mia rolled her eyes. She should have expected such a response. "That was not quite what I meant. Generally when people look to invest in such a niche business they want something specific in return for their investment. Something beside profit."

She paused for a moment, turning her back on Dromund Kaas and folding her arms. "I'll be frank with you, Irani. I don't trust you. There's something dark about you and while I'm not one to talk, it's not something I'm keen on. Ovmar had his fingers in every pie and I could rely on him to remain that way. Loyal to none but himself. You? I know nothing about you. I know nothing about your business, so before we continue any further, where do your loyalties lie? And what are you prepared to give?"

“Ovmar taught me everything he knew and then some.” Irani would reply with a shrug, nothing to say of the influence that Velok, Je’gan, Ordo, the Dark Lord and a host of other souls had done to his personality and quarks. But one couldn’t just drag out all the skeletons at once, might scare a girl, so you gotta ease her in nice and slowly in that regard.

“My loyalty is to myself and those that are loyal to me, nothing more, nothing less.”

Exactly the same as with Ovmar. The man had been infuriating, but he had always been good to those he cared about and those that were loyal to his and his causes.

“The Saiba Group has followed the strict line that Ovmar set out all those years ago with Neuro-Saav and then Ty’rel Holdings.”

“We are committed to that.”

And always would be.

“I am prepared to fund expansions, provide additional personnel with expertise, allocate extensive resources to it.”

And in return…

“In return I simply wish shares in the company and a say in the direction and operations.”

In truth he probably didn’t even need Monroe, the current state of the Mandalorians was… deplorable and it would have been very easy to just raid Myrkr for a big supply of Ysalamiri eggs and the sort. From there it would be fairly straight forward to replicate them.

But Ovmar had respected Monroe and cut her in at every corner, Irani would respect that.

Mia nodded slowly satisfied with his response, for the moment at least. There was more he wasn't saying but she wouldn't press. It wasn't necessary to know everything, just to get a glimpse was enough. She felt no deception in him, nor ill intent. A slight tension eased out of her shoulders and she rested her backside against the balustrade. "Alright, but I have conditions. The first is that all employees you send my way will be screened and asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Any failing to uphold this will be dealt with accordingly. Secondly, you can have access and a voice in the projects you fund. You will not be funding all of them. There are some projects that I deal with on a personal level and neither your funding, nor your voice will have any say in them."

She paused for a moment, thinking carefully "Finally, while you have a voice, my word is final. Do these seem fair to you?"
