The Morkai-class Star Destroyer was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, troop transport, and ship-to-ship combat. It was designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, serving the role of an Artillery Star Destroyer. At 1,600 metres in length, the Morkai was one of the largest mass-produced warships in the Iron Imperial fleet.
Expected to be deployed across a variety of combat scenarios, the Morkai-class Star Destroyer was outfitted with a diverse range of offensive weaponry. Primarily intended for long-range ship-to-ship combat, the Morkai featured: 10 Heavy Long Range Turbolaser Batteries, 20 Long Range Turbolaser Batteries, 15 Long Range Ion Batteries, 5 Hyper Velocity Guns, and 30 General Purpose Warhead Tubes. These weapons allowed the Star Destroyer to engage enemy vessels at any range. However, it was at its most effective in mid-t0-long range combat.
To effectively utilize its ranged capabilities, the Morkai was equipped with powerful engines. The incredible speed offered by these allowed the vessel to remain out-of-range from its adversaries, while allowing it to inflict heavy-damage with its long-range batteries.
Compared to that of other Iron Imperial vessels, the Morkai lacked the impressive defensive capabilities which had become common to the neutral nation's ships. It was only equipped with a singular deflector shield, which sat nestled within the vessel itself.
This left the Morkai-class Star Destroyer with limited space to transport starfighters. As such, it could not house any craft. So as not to be easy prey for enemy starfighters, the Morkai was oufitted with numerous anti-starfighter weaponry, including: 30 Point Defense Cannons, 30 Anti-missile Octets, 30 Flak Cannons, and 30 Quad Laser Cannons.
