SETTING INFORMATION
  • Landmark Name: Mount Kadorian
  • Classification: Arid Single Mountain (Volcanic)
  • Location: Zygerria
  • Affiliation:
Formerly The Sith Empire
Currently The Great Khaanate
  • Size: Large
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics:
Mount Kadorian has had a long but quiet history in the span of Zygerria's long life. Until recently the mountain was uninhabited, this only changing once The Sith Empire hallowed out portions of the mountain to serve as a weapons testing facility for the nearby shipyards. This changed further following The Graug invasion of Zygerria and the subsequent Battle of Mount Kadorian. The population has since spiked with Graug and Zygerrian slaves that live in closely packed hollows (tunnels) within and beneath the mountain complex.
96% Graug
82% Daghul-hai
12% Hansnok-hai
02% Baraan-Hai
04% Slave Population
03% Zygerrian
01% Human
  • Accessibility:
Mount Kadorian was hollowed out after the initial Sith invasion of the planet and has no had public access since. The mountain served as a perfect location for a defensible military installation its elevation is well over 9,000 feet, with steep rocky terrain. The mountain is also rested atop a deep deposit of titanium, lava rock and millions of years of deposits from when Kadorian was an active volcano - this makes it extremely difficult to dig through, even for master tunnel makers of the Graug Hordes. These combined features make the mountain extremely difficult to access with anything less than starships and this does not account for any defenses that may have been put in place by its inhabitants. No tunnels exist or could exist to enter the mountain through subterranean means, though The Graug have managed to make use of several naturally occurring tunnels beneath the mountain itself.
  • Description:
Mount Kadorian is a high, dense mountain capable of withstanding intense bombardment and attack. However, the mountain itself is extremely inhospitable and is incapable of growing food or allowing for subterranean means of entrance or escape. So difficult is the mountain to penetrate that during the The Battle of Mount Kadorian Graug forces, led by Warlord Skoth, could not penetrate the metal deposits beneath the mountain nor make a successful breach through front attack. Instead, Skoth was forced to extensively dig and hollow the surface around the mountain until triggering subterranean collapses, an earthquake and eventual volcanic eruption that sunk the mountain deeper into the ground and buried the defenders alive beneath hot magma and debris.
The mountain now sits surrounded by miles of cracked ground and gorges, its peaks crested by spikes of stone sheered during the collapse. Magma has once again began flowing and periodic clouds of ash can be seen pluming from its peak.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Ruins of Black Site Consort: The remains of the Sith-run "Black Site Consort" that were housed within the mountain. Mostly crushed beneath stone and rubble the base holds little valued aside from the possibility of surviving experimental weapons and prototypes.
The Kadorian Magma Forge: The premier Graug Forge on Zygerria. It was found that the magma flow as result of the mountain's collapse was more plentiful and contained less undesirable contaminants than elsewhere on the planet. This Magma Forge is used to arm and equip the Graug Forces that reside on Zygerria and often delivers components to the nearby shipyards.
God's Maw: The God's Maw is the large opening at the top of Mount Kadorian where the volcanic eruption destroyed the mountain's peak. Magma boils and bubbles here and the cliffsides surrounding the maw are treacherous - often collapsing into the maw itself. Remnants of Sith Observation Posts and an ancient Zygerrian observatory can be found narrowly hanging onto the cliffsides near the magma pool. No equipment within these relics is still operable.
The Kadorian Hive: The Graug defensive network that utilizes tunnels dug throughout the mountains and what naturally occurring tunnels that haven't been overflowed with magma.
Zygerria-Khaanburzum: The throne room of The Khaan of Zygerria

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Mount Kadorian has had a quiet existence until the recent invasion by The Sith Empire and subsequent takeover by The Graug Horde. In the early years of Zygerrian civilization the Mountain once served as a focal point of Zygerrian faiths in the region, but this gave way as the civilization advanced into advanced primitive civilization and eventually into a space fairing species. During these periods the mountain served little other purpose than a novelty for Zygerrian nobles and thrill seekers - both of which who would scale the mountain with groups of slaves in order to be among the rare few who could make the perilous journey to the top.

At the height of the Zygerrian Slave Empire and prior to its dismantlement by The Jedi, the Imperial government attempted to begin a mining operation to utilize the deposits of metals beneath the mountain. However, the progress was slow due to the instability created by the mining and the risks presented by the dormant volcano halted progress as the Zygerrians were forced to divert resources towards the encroaching Jedi. Hundreds of years would pass and the mountain would never again be mined or altered until The Sith Empire's second takeover of the planet, after which The Empire hollowed out portions of the mountain to use as a defensible black site to test weapons and interrogate enemies of The Empire.

Black Site Consort became a site in which the Empire would test several experimental starship weapons and components due to its proximity to the Oversight Shipyard. Zygerrian dissenters would sometimes be whisked away to the Black Site where they would be interrogated and, more often than not, fall victim to Imperial weapons testing. Overtime the Black Site would become one of the most defensible positions on the planet, manned by hundreds of Imperial Soldiers and Zygerrian Defense personnel. The site would be put to the test following the Graug invasion where their defenses proved sufficient to withstand a direct assault by three of the largest Graug clans on the planet. The site would eventually fall when the leader of the Graug assault, Warlord Skoth, used his warbeasts to dig around the mountain and cause a series of chain reactions that resulted in the reactivation of the volcanic properties of Mount Kadorian - which promptly erupted, causing an earthquake that sank the mountain and buried the blacksite and its defenders.

Following The Battle of Mount Kadorian, Warlord Skoth was named Khaan Beneath the Mountain and given domain over Zygerria. The Graug immediately moved into the mountain and Skoth claimed the now active volcano as his seat of power.
