Move like a boa, bite like a Viper [Yag'dril]

[member="Yag'dril"]

With the group lessons completed for now, it was time for the newer students to get more focused lessons individually. Yag'dril, he knew would be an... Interesting deal, seeing as half her body was serpent. He would not be able to teach her in lightsaber combat in the same way he would others, as the footwork was different. He knew he would not be able to teach her particulars in that, but perhaps through practice, she could find her own footwork...

So he had called her in to a training room within the Silver Jedi headquarters of Voss, for a bit of melee training.

Yag stretched out as she was moving around, allowing herself to move along the floor of the temple and she could feel all of the vibrations and she was moving around so that they would be able to meet. She was looking forward to going and meeting her master now when she finally came into the room. her white body and scales gleaming in the light before she coiled around rising up a little higher and higher with her hair around her shoulders here. Before she looked around giving herself a small look over at everything else. "Hello master." She said it with a look on her face before she was staring down towards him.

He was mediating when she arrived, legs crossed sitting down on the floor with his eyes closed. This had become a common occurrence for most of his Padawans to see upon arrival, so it would likely not come as any sort of surprise at this point. His eyes would slowly open as he would hear the voice of one of his new Padawans. Yag'dril was an... Interesting Padawan, to say the least. He'd trained aliens before, but not ones without actual legs. He knew this would be tricky, but a learning experience just as much for him as it was for her.

It was good to see the positives in things, he knew.

"Hello, Padawan Yag'dril" He would greet calmly as he rose to his feet. "Today's lesson will concern melee combat. In particular, the lightsaber arts. Tell me, Padawan... How familiar are you at present with lightsabers, or at least with the training sabers?"

She was looking at him ajnd coming in to st there for a moment stretched out her body slowly coi9ling it around herself. To rise up and be more eye level with her head rolling over her shoulders. Where she could look and where she could check it all out. "There were small groupings of force users on my homeworld they taught us a great deal and were one of the reasons why the jedi discovered us. They came into the jungle with their blades to fight and realized there were some stronger things to face." With a small look on her face though she was checking herself. The tail coiling around and coming to a small place where she could rest.

"Understood" He spoke calmly, firmly but with a gentleness to it even there. "You don't mind sparring with me, do you?" He would inquire. He certainly hoped this would not be an inconvenience to her, but well, he was the Master here after all. Technically he could do whatever he wanted, but... He preferred to at least try to let them have a choice in the matter, unless it directly interfered with their training and accomplished nothing.

"I prefer to teach through practice. Words are great, but experiences are the greatest teacher, in my eyes. Not to mention... I can't teach you footwork, nor how to wield a saber with how your body works, through words the way I may be able to teach a human, if that makes sense. The same words just would not apply. The best way for you to learn is to experience it, until you yourself are able to use your own body to it's potential in combat. I can give basic tips on tactics, and what to do and what not to do, but you will be developing your fighting style through experience until lightsaber combat feels natural to you, and we can work on teaching you the forms once I've formed a proper idea of how to make it work with your style."

A
s she was speaking her long moved a little. It was a natural feeling that she could work with and the idea of practicing saber skills and techniques she could get behind that. she could work with that and had a few ideas of how to use it. She had worked in some of the other saber training classes to learn fjem so which let her coil and be prepared over trying to run around and slither through small confining areas. "That sounds practical." She could think of it and other ways to really work it while she moved around and her body coiled up a little wrapping in a thick mass of mucles with the white gleam of her scales. "I can move quickly in most cases but compared to the others I present a larger target. Combat on my homeworld between ourselves and some of the other creatures there is very different."

He nodded slowly as he listened to her explanation of her people's combat difficulties, and how they had more problems due to being a larger target. He would think this over a moment, but ultimately decided all that she could do was practice and improve. "You must figure out how to overcome your own limitations... That is something a Jedi must do. You'll learn it, I'm sure... But you need to start.

So if you wish to begin on that path...

Then come at me."

With that, he would draw his lightsaber, notably setting it to low power in order to keep from causing her any serious harm should he strike her. He would hold out a hand and a training lightsaber would come flying toward Yag'dril from one of the racks. Of course, these sabers were permanently set to low-power, in order to keep Padawans from hurting themselves and others... Although hilariously enough, one of his other Padawans thought they could turn the power on it up. He had no idea why they wanted to do that while sparring with him... But he'd gotten a laugh out of it.

She was looking at him and getting a small grin on her face now. As she held the training saber with her hand on the hilt of the blade. She could feel the weight of it all and was ready for anything that might be able to come from it. She held the blade in one hand before going all over the area until she was comfortable being able to move it and she had to let the lower section of her body become a small place she could avoid with her stance. "Understood." A small grin slowlyu started to twwist her lips to show the dainty fangs that could retract and the jedi padawan was moving quickly on the ground with her body rotating in place to encircle around her master to make a loop befoe she came in with a saber strike going low and rising up with her body.

The Jedi Master took a deep breath as he would simply ignite his own lightsaber, keeping it at guard in the Makashi stance as he would watch his opponent with what appeared to be a deep concentration. Make no mistake, training sabers were low power, but they could still cause welts and burns. Those he did not need, so he would watch Yag'dril carefully, his breathing regulated as he would watch every little movement she took, noting the rotations and retractions of her snake body.

This would be a new learning experience to Josh too, learning to fight against a different race that did not have humanoid legs... He noted her wrapping her body in a circle around him, and only smirked toward her in turn. "Oh my~" He would crack, a devious grin crossing his features as he waited for her to attack. As she would strike, he would quickly take to the air, leaping upwards immediately into a backflip, having a feeling she would strike upwards. It was the only direction he could go to avoid the attack after all, but up and then back was a little harder to accommodate for...

He nodded his head as he would pace back and forth as he watched her. "Good maneuvers, though remember not everyone is going to sit and wait for you to circle around them" He would advise, more or less relaying back to her everything that he had observed about her fighting style. "They can easily slice through your body while you're in that process."

SHe was staying there for a moment longer allowing th force to go throughout her body and she could use and contract her muscles. Staying there for a moment lingering on how best to fight until she was moving now. Getting the floor to slide under her belly when she reared up andlooked at her master for a lingering moment. Then dashed forward with a surge until her tail came around more like a whip to grasp an area of the room to pick her up and she could have a small area now to swing around in and duel with little resistance from being on the ground itself.

Josh would watch her movements carefully, as she seemed to silently listen to the direction that he was giving. He watched as she would wrap the tail end of her body around a higher up object in the room, and steadily nodded his head. "Good idea, though remember that this may not always be possible... Fighting in corridors or tight spaces may be difficult for you" Josh would advise calmly as he would draw his blade again.

The Jedi Master would strike forward, striking with several slashes toward the nearest part of her body that was still close to the ground. This was a lesson to her in fighting, and finding her fighting style... And this was a lesson to him on how to fight her kind. "Think about how to overcome the weaknesses presented by those environments in the future" He added as he struck...

Her attention to what he was saying was clear but there was a lot of limitations that she knew she would have to deal with and risk for herself. Where she was going and where she was able to move while pulling herself up when she spoke. "Fighting like this is strange, normally I would or anyone of my people wouldn't use a blade unless we had to. Get close and constrict until they submit. The creatures we fight in the tunnels and ruins are far larger and vicious then a small blade." She said it not to be high and mighty it was a matter of fact, beings with the body of a scorpion and poisonous tails were not something you just fought with a stick. You needed to crack their exoskeleton like a nut.

"That is how your kind fight, but it has it's strengths... As well as it's weaknesses. Not every enemy only has a blade, don't forget..." Josh would remark as he would miss thanks to her pulling herself up. Spinning his saber in his hand, he would watch her gingerly, as he would deactivate his lightsaber then and place it back on his belt.

"Alright then. Try and constrict me into submission, Dear Miss Snake" He would then decide, smirking lightly as he would hold out both hands toward her, a large fireball beginning to charge in his hands that was aimed straight at her... As the moments trickled by, the larger the fireball became, and the harder it was going to become to dodge...

She was looking at him for a moment and her look before she was moving, Her muscles constricting and pushing her along aat a faster speed in the air when she moved to encircle in the while scaled muscle. Smooth from oils and gleaming before she looked at him and her eyes changed. Slowly rotating and searching quickly for her masters eyes as she spoke. Voice dropping down. "Careful what you want, I am uncertain about how much pressure can be applied to a human's body before real damage master." She didn't cay it sinister like she said it as a matter of fact but was moving in to coil and bring him up into the air while her eyes were more working to catch and distract him.

She hesitated. He didn't. While the power had been toned down in order to keep from seriously injuring Yag'dril, at this point the fireball Josh had been charging had been given far too much time to charge. The ball of fire had grown quite large at this point, and with the size of the room, there really wasn't much place for Yag'dril to go, especially at the speed that her body could allow her to go would allow.

He threw the fireball right then and there the moment that she taunted him. It would explode in a sea burst of fire on contact with either Yag'dril or the floor or the wall, and he waited to see the result before choosing what lesson to employ.

She could feel her body moving quickly allowing the force to fill it and the muscles compacts, pushing against the floor and she was surprised that somehow.. nothing managed to get through. She had a look on her face as it seemed no matter what she did it was brushed off and barely able to get through anything. She was moving now and scaled along the floor using her muscles and body to increase her speed while her torso stayed there with her hair when she could feel the heat but she used the force pushing it outwards to defend herself in a smal aura and barrier. Excess heat that lapped at her body she was pulling it into herself to strengthen her aura to protect against the heat. THe saber in her hand felt next to useless as it barely seemed able to do anything. She watched with her eyes flicking back and forth while lashing her tail around the room to lets herself get faster.

"Stop"

He would hold out a hand, and Yag'dril would be stopped in her tracks before the battle could get too intense. After a few moments, the telekinetic grip would be released, and she would be let go. "I think that's enough for today. You've grasped the basics of how someone of your race could handle a saber in combat, and the lesson I think has gotten through that you have to expect everything and anything."

He took a deep breath then as he would disengage his lightsaber.

"Remember, never let your guard down in battle, always analyze the pros and cons of everything you might do, weigh them when it comes to your opponent... And always prepare for anything, if you can. Expect the unexpected. The Sith are incredibly powerful beings, with a variety of different abilities. The Force is vast... Both light side and dark."
