Hands on his hips, Makai took in the dry, dusty red landscape. Blow sands and the kicked up dust were already clinging to his dark suit, coating his dress shoes. By all looks of the area, it was dead and lifeless with just tracks left by heavy machinery. A place no one would think about sinking in a massive heap of credits for mining rights.

Yet here he was. Iced blue eyes searched the ground before stepping a few feet and squatting down, picking up a small shard. It was flipped a few times to examine it, as if the half-Galan couldn’t believe his own eyes.

“A iron-rockite fragment. I guarantee there is at least one large vein out here….you can argue this may have been kicked up from a previous mining operation but we are far away from any open pit mine or mine entrance, so the mathematical chances of this being a fluke…”

He was doing calculations in his head, trying to roughly estimate how much product could be pulled from his potential deal with the Trade Federation. It was impossible to really put a number down without a geological survey. Even if it wasn’t enough, then he would still be rolling in trace elements and potential extraction. Not to mention the position on the Crystal Trade Route.

Makai stood up and dusted off his hands before turning back to the pair who had joined him. He could have been out here alone but it seemed this was a bit of a field trip for everyone. Just as he would be touring any facilities with Miss Raaf, the Trade Federation was having a yard sale and they were the first two that pulled into the driveway, so to speak.

Why they were selling was unclear, and that made him suspicious. Yet there was still too much potential not to take a calculated risk.

“My apologies Miss Raaf. Getting carried away, my wife would kill me right now, having a pregnant woman just stand out here while I look around.I hope you aren’t having half the issues she is….. We can go indoors now, Viceroy, Miss Raaf. I have many questions and a proposal of my own, Viceroy.I hope you will accept it.”

There would be an amused eyebrow raised as she watched the younger Dashiell positively gush over the landscape under their gaze and what potential it might hold.

"Never apologize for what you're passionate about, Makai," she replied, her hands folded over her stomach. She might still have the appearance of pregnancy, she was slowly reverting as the twins were safe back on Genesia. She would be there with them for releasing the exowombs, but the business opportunity on Geonosis was too good to pass up. Why the Federation was looking to sell their holdings on the world was one reason she had come to make some offers, but it would also help expand Aurora's foothold on the world beyond their Cybernetics facility of they acquired the Droid factory hives that Laborr and his corporation held.

"And don't worry about me, even though I dislike deserts, I'm not uncomfortable."

It would be evident she was using some mastery of her powers as her dress was meticulously clean even as some of the orange dust tried to cling to it and not a drop of perspiration would be found.

"But perhaps we can get started with proposals yes and see what our host here is offering."

The sun was setting over the rugged terrain of Geonosis, casting long shadows across the sprawling landscape of jagged rocks and dust-laden hills. The air was thick with the scent of minerals and the distant sounds of Geonosian workers buzzing about their tasks. It was here, amidst the hive-like structures that dotted the horizon, that the Trade Federation had convened two notable figures from the Sith Order and the Corporate Community to discuss the Industrial Rights pertaining to Geonosis, or at the very least, a significant share of the planet's industrial resources.

Numerous individuals could find themselves bewildered by this decision, particularly considering the planet's immense worth due to its abundant resources and droid-manufacturing facilities. The Commanding Viceroy might have concurred with this perspective were it not for the dire financial crisis afflicting the Galactic Alliance, a consequence of the Chancellor and the High Command's decision to unleash the Alliance's full strength against the Sith Order. This strategy resulted in a catastrophic defeat and subsequent withdrawal, prompting further military actions against the Dark Empire to cover such a loss.

"AWEROROROROR....The planet Geonosis is renowned for its abundant resources that date back to the era preceding the Gulag Plague, specifically during the Clone Wars. However, a significant portion of these resources remains concealed beneath the vast expanses of sand. For instance, the Iron-Rockite fragment you have unearthed is merely one example, and I can confidently state that numerous additional veins await discovery, which the government under Archduke Brachtor the Vindicated Brachtor the Vindicated has intentionally left untouched for this specific transaction." The Skakoan said towards Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell , his mechanical respiratory device emitting a faint wheeze as he scrutinized a hovering holographic representation of Geonosis projected on his armored gauntlet.

He turned his gaze gradually towards Lady Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf of Aurora Industries, a figure of significant influence and authority within the commercial sphere of the Sith Order, who was keen on conducting business in an appropriate manner that the Viceroy would not contest.

"I shall refrain from burdening you with the intricate specifics, Lady Raaf and Mr. Dashiell. However, it is pertinent to inform you that the Trade Federation is contemplating the sale of a significant portion of the planet to various interested entities, including yourselves, in light of the prevailing economic uncertainties within the Galactic Alliance. The appointment of a new Chancellor during wartime does not instill a sense of assurance in the financial markets, necessitating the implementation of certain strategic decisions such as the foreclosure of certain assets of ours." Laborr gestured with a series of hand movements as they entered one of the nearby abandoned factories, which offered shelter from the intense sunlight and the encroaching dunes.

"Happy to to know I am not disturbing you Miss Raaf."

For him, checking out the landscape was all part of the business proposal. Never trust what the other was offering, best to get independent or your own eyes out and about. The Trade Federation was looking to sell and he wasn't putting anything past a seller to try to get rid of a lemon. So far, everything seemed fine, as evidenced by the iron-rockite that was working its way to the surface.

As they entered the abandoned factory, what the Viceroy was proposing made little sense to him. The Galactic Alliance may be in a rough financial patch, but selling off factories and large swaths of holdings? In his opinion, holding onto the land but leasing the mineral rights and refineries would make sense. Cautious but also allowed for the control of assets in the long term.

They entered the abandoned factory with himself taking up the rear position after holding the door. Empty, their voices would echo throughout the space. He had many questions, but he wasn't going to monopolize the conversation. Makai suspected she had many of the same questions he did.

"You are concerned about nationalization? There are more valuable assets that could be sold first. Leasing rights to technology and hyperlanes, for example."

She would tilt her head in thought as their host explained, at least this initial explanation, for why the Trade Federation was considering divesting of their holdings on Geonosis and perhaps elsewhere. If the Federation was concerned about the impact the wars the Alliance was embroiled in with the Sith Order and the Dark Empire, especially after the losses at Sluis Van and Echnos, she would think the opposite would be more likely. The obvious position would be to diversify the portfolio, ensure that losses suffered in one part of the galaxy could be made up within another.

But perhaps it was about something else, she thought, looking at the Skakoan closely. Perhaps it was about influence and the Federation making a play to seize more control of the Core's economy? If the Alliance continued to suffer losses, and costly ones at that, it would force them to take out loans and make better agreements with corporations to keep stability. The Federation would be primed to take advantage of that, so perhaps it was a matter of focus rather than a worry about nationalization.

"I would be under the impression the successful and peaceful transition from one administration to another would be a mark of stability, at least in terms of governance, especially during wartime," she would remark. "But perhaps you have a better sense of the situation than we do."

Which was an amusing thing to say considering her own role within the Sith Order's own government. Her fellow Councilors might not be concerned about economics, but she saw... opportunity to both stabilize the empire controlled by the Sith and extending her own influence.

"I do concur with Makai, there are other more flexible assets that could be divested first. Why choose holdings in the Outer Rim first?"

The Skakoan was capable of comprehending their perspectives regarding the Trade Federation's move to the complete sale of the planet to outside investors such as themselves. This approach seemed to overshadow the potential for him to optimize investments and reduce expenditures within the Galactic Alliance, thereby fostering a degree of stability in both the localized economic frameworks and the broader galactic economy.

He allowed their questions and and apprehensions to resonate within the confines of the abandoned factory, where the machinery had ceased operation several years prior following the disintegration of the Second Confederacy of Independent Systems. Nevertheless, the site retained remarkable potential, which was the focal point of their discussion as Geonosis in this case had potential but within another's hand to reintroduce a degree of profitability.

"You both have explained compelling considerations. It may be prudent to explore the possibility of selling access to the Trade Federation Trading Network or to reevaluate our investment strategies within the Galactic Alliance, shifting focus from high-risk markets to more stable sectors such as the clothing industry or agriculture. While each of these alternatives could yield economic benefits for the Federation to some extent, they would not address the underlying challenges facing the Alliance which is why certain holdings have to be reorganized to interested parties more completely than may be necessary." Rulonom explained - his perspectives amidst the hissing sounds of the pressure suit while traversing the initial level, exhibiting a nonchalant demeanor in the vastness of the galaxy. His walk was measured, striking a balance that facilitated the explaining of his ideas, yet it was paced just sufficiently to prevent his companions from fully absorbing the information without lagging behind.

"In layman's terms, We aim to establish an extensive industrial infrastructure network within the Galactic Alliance that is designed to endure not merely for a short duration but for an entire lifetime, regardless of the potential destruction of the Alliance by the Sith Order or the Dark Empire. This industrial framework will facilitate expansion and development for any entity operating within the former territories, all under the stewardship of the Trade Federation. In essence, it represents an indispensable resource which you can't live without." He further elaborated, providing a glimpse into the strategic vision that the Skakoan had for the future of the mega corporation. The intention was to evolve the corporation into an enduring entity, one that could not be extinguished or entirely obliterated.

This concept of Corporate Immortality required a significant increase in investment within the core regions of the Galactic Alliance, as opposed to external ventures, thereby indicating that Geonosis would need to be abandoned and sold to add additional value to the project.

Makai listened to Miss Raaf, who seemed to be in agreement with himself ; why sell now. Yet the Trade Federation seemed hellbent on selling as not to completely tie itself to the Galactic Alliance. It was an argument he had made time and time again ; one could not rely on a single government to make their business flourish. Deep ties with locals, other corporations, and organizations such as long-standing guilds were the key to success. Governments had their place, but they were fickle.

"Why so transparent Viceroy? You just admitted you are concerned economically, which, means Miss Raaf and I will be looking to get the best deal out of this situation."

He paused, wondering if the Viceroy was trying to set them up. If it was him, he would have merely sold the property, mining rights, factory spaces and what have you without mention of economic collapse. Then again, Makai always viewed the Trade Federation as less diverse. Too tied to the Galactic Alliance.

"We can assume we are purchasing full rights? Mineral and water? Full manufacturing rights? If not, with economic concerns on the horizon, it wouldn't be wise to fully invest."

If he didn't have full control, then buying mining rights meant he wouldn't be setting up deep ties on the planet. Orbital facilities would have to be brought in.
