- Duranium-Reinforced Particile Collider Warhead
- When fired, creates gravitational singularity at point of impact
- Excites atoms to the point where a null-gravidic zone is created, destroying the intermolecular force that binds atoms together
- Field strength decreases dramatically the further out from the point of impact
- Singularity is insufficient to have normal properties of a gravity well; i.e. will not produce a gravitational pull on objects outside of a molecular level, will not
- Energy created through the destruction of intermolecular force releases in destructive implosion
- Conventional explosions rate several times larger in radius than the gravitational singularity itself
- RX-D13X Precision Drive delivery system
- Onboard sensor systems and targeting package
- Calculate optimal trajectories to avoid point-defense weaponry
- Optimized for quick maneuvers and long-range engagement
- Duranium exterior plating reinforced by impervium coating and ablative inertial damper.
- Intermolecular Destruction: Gravitational singularity creates a null-gravidic zone that essentially destroys the intermolecular binding force between atoms; this forcibly separates atoms, regardless of their element, apart akin to disintegration.
- Chain Reaction: The energy violently expelled from atoms being forcibly ripped apart create massive explosions, capable of dealing even more damage to nearby targets.
- Energy Shielding: The properties of the missile means that it is designed to bypass conventional energy shielding.
- Ensured Delivery: The missile is extremely well protected, with a duranium chassis covered in an imperium-hull coating. An integrated ablative inertial damper is designed severely reduces the damage of kinetic-based point defense weaponry. Meanwhile, the missile is outfitted with targeting packages, onboard computers and a precision drive-based delivery system allowing it to make precise maneuvers to more accurately deliver against a target.
- Small Targets: Successful use of the gravitational singularity missile requires a direct hit on the target; due to the nature of the weapon, exceptionally small or fast-moving targets.
- Power Creep: Strength of the null-gravidic field decreases exponentially from the hypocenter of explosion -- meaning that the weapon cannot destroy unending amounts of mass in one blow. This reduces its effectiveness against exceptionally large targets (large astronomical bodies and in some cases, ships above conventional battlecruiser size).
- Kinetic, Force Shielding: Depending on the type of shielding, the damage created by the missile can be mitigated. If the missile impacts on a kinetic shield, for example, the actual physical area of the ship within the null-gravidic field's sphere is decreased (scaling on the design of said shield and distance from ship) and because of the properties of the field, this can somewhat or wholly mitigate damage. Shielding via Force powers has also been demonstrated to be somewhat effective against the weapon, in small concentrated areas.
- Large Missile: The missile is extremely large and heavy ordnance that requires the proper equipment and size of both ship and launcher to feasibly store and launch the missile. Its large profile also makes it a somewhat-more easy target for point defenses.
- Disruptor Defense: Due to the weapon's similarities to disruptor technology, substances resistant to disruptors will have similar resistance to the gravitational singularity missile.
- Underpowered: The submissions ratings are underpowered.
The MTX-20 Tra Kyr'am Gravitational Singularity Missile is, perhaps, one of the most powerful pieces of Mandalorian ordnance made to date.
It is also one of the most unconventional, as it is not simply a delivery system for packed explosive compounds; rather it delivers a particle generator that can create a null-gravidic field that quite simply destroys the intermolecular force that binds particles together, releasing violent amounts of energy that creates a two-punch impact and explosion. This is achieved through an RGT-BH5 Erebus Particle Collider at the core of each missile, able to generate enough energy to sufficiently create this sort of weapon. The nature of the weapon also means that conventional energy shielding is all but bypassed.
Due to the valuable nature of the missile, its delivery is well-insured. Onboard targeting computers include an RM-TAR8 Astraea Integrated Targeting Package along with an electrorangefinder, alongside advanced flight computational mechanics that turn the ordnance into what is essentially a smart bomb, able to calculate optimal trajectories through complicated battlefields and incoming point-defense weaponry. State of the art precision drives gives the missile an advantage in maneuvering, designed to allow the missile to be able to evade incoming point defense systems as well.
The missile is extraordinarily powerful at first glance, but there are a lot of caveats and limits to the potential of its use.
The first and most simple, perhaps, is that extraordinarily small and fast targets can easily evade the large missile. The missile requires an impact to explode, so if it does not hit a target, it will be no different than a pure hunk of metal floating through space. This kinetic impact leads into the missiles second weakness, which is the ability for kinetic shielding to mitigate the damage of the missile. The nature of the null-gravidic field means that, further out from the hypocenter of the impact, the weaker the field becomes to the point where it will no longer be able to rip apart bonds between particles. This is a weakness inherent of itself, meaning that no matter what there is a limit to the ability for the field to destroy, limiting its effectiveness against large targets such as astronomical bodies and ships larger than standard battlecruiser dimensions. But this also means that shields can be used to mitigate the damage of the missile; if a missile impacts on a kinetic shield, the area of ship affected by the field can be dramatically reduced. Shielding via the Force has also been demonstrated to be effective against the missile, though the reasoning behind this is unknown to Mandalorian designers. The missile has other means of countermeasure; its large size means that it is an 'easier' target for point-defense, and missiles conventionally blown up by defensive weaponry will not create a null-gravidic field. In addition, materials resistant to disruptor technology will also have resistance to the null-gravidic field.
However, ultimately the Tra Kyr'am is an extremely powerful and deadly ordnance, that will expand the capabilities of Mandalorian naval tactics in the battles yet to come.
