Character
NABOO
Theed
The gleaming sun beamed down on the city of Theed as it always did. Naboo seemed to be in a perpetual state of paradise, the idyllic landscape bathed in sunlight. It was a planet that Jaered adored growing up and he could never imagine himself leaving. Others had talked about journies amidst the stars, seeing the galaxy and everything it had to offer. Whilst Jaered was definitely one for adventure, he did not want to distance himself that much from the ones he loved. His planet offered plenty of excitement whilst still allowing him to be home in time for dinner. He spent many days in the emerald fields dotted with herds of shaak and climbing perlote trees on the outskirts of the swampland.
That all changed the day that hell fell from the sky.
The day that creatures rampaged through the elegant streets of Theed was the last day that he saw his family. Now all that remained was the faint echo of the people they once were. Home was now a constant reminder of what he had lost. Jaered no longer knew his place in the galaxy. Alone in the capital city surrounded by people. Years passed and Theed was seemingly back to the way it was beforehand, albeit with an odd sense of gloom about the place. Damage was repaired and a memorial was erected but life was continuing as it once was.
Stalls lined the city square as the market buzzed with activity. Jeared sauntered along, looking at the fabrics and food that were on offer as DD3 scurried along beside him. The boy never went anywhere without his mechanical sidekick, especially nowadays. He was one of the few remaining things of a life lost. Jaered approached a stall as the droid held back. Giving a warm smile to the merchant, he picked up a vibrant purple fruit with an expression of wonder. "Oh wow, is this a jogun fruit?" he began, not giving the seller time to respond. "It looks so ripe. This is some good quality produce." The man boasted about his imports and that he would not taste anything sweeter in the galaxy. "I bet. And what are these? I've never seen anything like this?" he asked as he gestured to a fruit he had definitely seen before.
Maintaining the seller's attention, DD3 piled as much food as his little arms could carry, ensuring to stay behind the man and out of sight. "I'll take two of these," said Jaered, picking up some fruit. Placing some credits into the man's hand, he wished him a good day as he turned and calmly walked away. DD3 quickly waddled after him with the mound of food, dropping one as his lanky legs struggled to keep up. Jaered purposefully did not look back until he heard a voice call out: "Hey! Stop that droid!"
He momentarily turned to look before darting off into the crowd, DD3 close behind. Now that it was just him to fend for himself, the credits did not cover as much as they used to. He had to find other ways to get buy in the lavish city. As he ran, Jaered slipped a sack from his shoulders as DD3 dumped the contents into it. The pair turned a corner as they both stopped, this routine being enacted before. Jaered pushed the 'nose' of the blue droid, collapsing him into a compact form that he slipped over his head into the compartment on his back with a click. Not waiting for the chance for anyone to catch up with him, he jumped down off a ledge; a quicker route than using the stairs. Safely landing with bent knees, he continued to run. Turning a corner, he looked back to see if anyone was pursuing, unaware of the person before him, crashing headfirst into them before there was time to react...
