- Mermaid's Tears -
- The connection between the two rings is absolute; forming an unseen, endless connection between the two who wear it. From feeling eachother's touch - from a simple graze of the hand, to the embrace of a hug; to even the reassuring heartbeat of their partner. Through the rings, everything can be sensed - even the emotions of the other. These natural abilities allow it to give an almost natural affinity for battle meditation by carefully giving the other cues as to what exactly the other is doing.
- I'll be there, always -
- While it can transfers feelings, thoughts, and emotions through its connection - it can also serve as a means of transportation in a pinch. Should one of the two be in danger, the rings allow one to teleport to the other so long as there is nothing stopping it. This near instant transmission can allow the lovers to fight as one - be it their last fight, or just the beginning of one; though only once per day.
- Emotional Feedback -
- While the intention is good, feeling the others emotions through the ring can have a bad effect - especially if the two were to fight. Even one small amount of anger, hatred, or the like could see a feedback loop run rampant; or otherwise cloud the others decisions in acts of state, banking, or anything they could be doing. This leaves little to hide, and even less to lie about.
- Cold Blooded -
- While the rings are powerful in their natural state, when removed from the force through the use of a ysalamiri they become little more than paperweights. They do nothing, offer nothing, and look like little more than regular rings - though with a certain beauty to them that is all their own. Intricate of design and functionless in form, they should be kept away from ysalamiri or voidstone at all cost.
The nature of Maliphant and Srina’s relationship has been an odd one from the get go. Meeting once upon a time when Maliphant had no name, their meeting was quick and temporary, a blot in a large expanse of their lives - but something was felt between them even then. A bond that would not flourish for many years, when they were both at their lowester.
For Srina, the trauma of Kuat - and for Maliphant, the trauma of Hoth. Both were shells of their former selves - and only through the bond they shared in the Force did they find even a semblance of peace. Building off eachother, pure and unashamed appreciation - until they found little left between them but passion.
Maliphant yet had his own life outside of Srina’s status as the exarch - but his job as the Director of the IGBC kept him away for long weeks at times. With their Force visitations to eachother little more than random, Maliphant thought that in the spirit of giving - he would create for Srina another alchemic artifact to go along with her sword; but in this case, one that they can share.
Intricate little rings with beautiful designs - pieced together from phrik, electrum, and the essence of Maliphant himself. Mudarra, he would call it, and it would be a pair of rings that fit them perfectly. Through it, no matter the distance, no matter the nature of their being; they could communicate unobstructed and unlistened to.
For Srina’s sake, and his own, it would seem as Maliphant grew tired of being far from her day by day.
As a last resort, he added a failsafe; that if either should ever find themselves in severe trouble, the bonds in the ring would allow them to teleport to the other. This serves to keep them always in tune, and so long as the rings have access to the Force; they can save the others - should they need to, and should they want to.
Truly, a masterful gift for a lovely woman - and an exceptional friend.
