- Stun
- Spores puff up into a bubble when the grenade explode. These spores are mildly irritating, with debilitating (but not lethal) effects on air-breathing creatures that inhale the spores. Symptoms include sore throats, uncontrollable coughing, and significant nausea. These symptoms persist for approximately 10 minutes, with little to no side effects afterwards.
- Flashpop
- Spores spread violently when the grenade explodes. These spores are highly irritating to the moisture in eyes and ears, providing quick and vicious irritation that fades after about 30 seconds. Symptoms include immediate and effective blinding and deafening for those who do not have prevention against airborne spores. These symptoms persist for about 30 seconds, with little to no side effects afterwards.
- Threat Marking
- Spores are launched in a bubble once the grenade explodes. These spores are attracted to clothing, weaponry, and armor, allowing them to 'paint' a target. This is compatible with other Sylva Vitae tech, including (but not limited to) smart rounds, heads-up displays, and sensor equivalent mapping. This allows SV users (with compatible tech) to 'see' enemy targets through walls and/or behind cover.
- Smoke
- Spores slowly puff up into a large, thick cloud. This takes 30 seconds to a minute to fully deploy. The spores are thick and opaque, allowing a blanket of smoke-like particulates to coat an area. This provides visual obstruction - to cover movements, obscure lines of sight, or disrupt enemy intel. The cloud swirls and maintains position for about 5-10 minutes, before the spores grow too dilute to provide effective cover. High wind can severely limit this time. While inhalation can result in minor irritation, it isn't particularly debilitating.
- Variable usage allows for alternate modes depending on required payload.
- Non-lethal options allow it to be incredibly useful for situations that require limited casualties
- Organic design allows this to evade most detection methods
- Non-lethal options only. If lethal force is required, this is not the grenade for that.
- Organic design is less durable than a steel-based design, and more flammable.
The MSIG is a variable-purpose grenade, for multiple scenarios and requirements. A chitin shell with a sporophoric interior, the shell can be twisted to select the grenade's purpose. By default, it's set to Stun (green), but can be twisted 30° for Flashpop (yellow), 60° for Threat Marking (red), or a full 90° for Smoke (tan). Pressing the black button activates the grenade for an approximate 3 second timer, and it can then be tossed, rolled, or thrown.
Designed for use in combat, the MSIG is crafted to grant an intentionally non-lethal tactical edge. With Stun and Flashpop to assault the senses and disrupt enemy combatants, Threat Marking to identify enemies (even behind and through cover), and a standard Smoke to obscure visuals, the possibilities are almost as varied as the user's imagination. The MSIG uses an organic design in line with Sylva Vitae operating protocol, which gives it similar strengths and weaknesses to other SV biotech.
