Chapter 1: The Murder on the Dreamweaver

The sun was setting “around the corner” of Nar Shaddaa as the starcruiseship “Dreamweaver” made its way through the bustling traffic of tourism and merchants. It was a normal fun filled day with activities, tours, and shows. The ship was a floating palace, filled with tourists of all income levels and high-ranking officials from across the galaxy. But tonight, the atmosphere on board was tense, as news of a shocking murder spread like wildfire.

The victim was a diplomat long associated with the Hutts, the notorious gangsters from and around Nal Hutta. His body had been found sprawled on the Promenade, a blaster wound to the chest. All signs pointed to Jedi Knight Connel Vanagor as the culprit. The diplomat, Retsbom Aton, was officially on a mission to obtain mercantile rights with several core planets, unofficially was a different untold story.

Connel Vanagor was a member of the Jedi Order, known for his unwavering dedication to justice for the voiceless. He had been on the ship for some light travel between planets on his way back to Kashyyyk; but now, he found himself at the center of a murder investigation, his reputation hanging in the balance.

As the authorities descended onto the Promenade, those associated with the victim spoke of Connel’s outburst earlier in the day. They pointed out his threats at the individual and his associates, eventually being held back by others. The lightsaber burns, the bruising on the face indicative off punching (A noted Connel Vanagor tactic), a tear of clothing matching the torn hole missing from Connel’s jacket. Witnesses corroborate this recount, as did Connel though his telling also took the detail of the fallen telling him of the Bounty on him being active still and he could be taken at any time they chose. Connel was taken into custody, his lightsaber confiscated. He protested his innocence, insisting that he had nothing to do with the diplomat's death. But the evidence against him was damning, and the authorities were convinced of his guilt.

Objective I - Follow the evidence
The evidence all seems to point to this being what it is alleged (again, I haven't decided what this will be yet, suggestions welcome), but it all seems to be... "perfect" it all seems to be just a little too convenient. Follow the evidence to either exonerate or confirm the guilt of the charged. (All the while dealing with security who will not appreciate being circumvented)

Objective II - Interview Witnesses
Someone had to see something! Interview everyone you can that was in the area. Did they see what happened? What did they see? Did they see anything right after? Find out what you can while again, circumventing security.

Objective III - Reassure Guests
Starlight Cruises runs a tight ship(proverbially speaking) and are not prepared for this. Help reassure those who might be afraid, aggressive, angry, that everything is alright and they are safe, regardless of what has happened.

Objective IV - BYOO
Want to do your own thing? Go for it! This is a cruise ship! There's bound to be some fun somewhere!

He was innocent.

He sure as frak didn’t look like it though.

There was apparently a lot of evidence pointed at him and he knew that there would be trouble proving his innocence. There was that, but there was another problem.

His parents, Chrysa and Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor were standing outside his cell demanding they be let in to speak with him. They were silent partners (and majority owners) in the parent company of Starlight Cruiselines so they were afforded that. Connel was not happy, not because he did not want to see them, of course he did, they were his parents. He felt ashamed, even in innocence.

This was supposed to be a fun cruise, wasn't it? Wasn't that what the organics promoted it as? Yet a murder on their grounds, how very.. Unprofessional. Such wasn't his reason for being on the ship- Indeed, he had managed to get aboard in attempts to.. Well. Grateful as he was, their postulations of inorganic supremacy was something he didn't entirely care for- Yet indebted he remained, and dedicated he must be. Thus he fabricated that patrolling the galaxy, was beneficial to their operations in order to decisively strike the Organic menace- In truth? He wished to escape his saviors, at least for a bit, to learn of the world as is- As more than just a soldier.

As it remains- It had been an experience, many pleasures found that a machine such as him barely understood, perhaps worsened by the fact he made an active effort to keep a low profile, as difficult as it may be... But this, this was something even he didn't expect.

What didn't surprise him was the apparent association with the Hutts resulting in the diplomat's death- Even he knew the enemies they had, and the chance was all too tempting for any gun to get their licks in, consequences be damned... but a Jedi? That didn't sound right. He had never actually made contact with one, only stories- And it didn't line up, maybe there was more to learn, but, murder mysteries weren't his concern. It would be inefficient, and likely wouldn't be of concern, especially to him. Why should he care of some Jedi, perhaps Sith in hiding, delivering what is "righteous" upon scum, and suffering the deserved consequences. Why should he spend precious energy when he could try to learn more about organic preferences as he has been? Why should he care about someone he doesn't even know getting in trouble for something that they likely did!
Why..?

...And then her face flashes in his memory banks.

"...THELORA..." His harsh, rather intimidating mechanical voice soft and remorsefully nostalgic.

The sight of her demise. Blamed for something out of her control. The unanswered cry. A death that would not receive retribution, an act that had been allowed.
The red glow in his optics seemingly deactivates, blinking before turning fully dark, his mechanical hands turning to fists.

His eyes suddenly return to their intensive crimson "..VARP WITH IT." The machine began to make it's way over to the crime scene, metal feet clanking against the flooring.

Objective 1

"Padawan's Journal, sexcond day of the longest night. Found my way onto a cruiseship... milk in galley was spoiled. Watched several people act suspiciously as they were trying to sneak food from the buffet."

Akela was writing it out... her notes on the potential cases while she was roaming and she heard the commotion. Going towards something that was happening. She stood tall and at the ready for the moment ... She was looking at it and found a place to sit as the news was filtering in. She breathed in for a moment... allowing the force to settle around herself. She looked at the one offering drinks and spoke. "Barkeep.... milk..... in a chilled glass.... clean." She said it and then news came.. someone had been caught for the crime... they were not sure yet but it seemed he had been caught red handed which could only mean one thing.... SHe looked at the barkeep was ignoring her and the others to listen and she rose up.... "Jedi power activate." She said it and went to go and find this... a jedi was always a useful person to have.

Silence in solitude…

A test of patience…

A test of resolve…

A test of sanity…

This was meant to drive a sentient to either speak up or do something else to draw attention. Connel was doing something he had not done in a long time. He was meditating, going all in on the effort to do so as well. He focused on his breathing, on the sounds of the air vents, on the clanking sounds of far off footsteps. He was trying to reach some level of serenity, but it wasn’t working.

No, he was not giving up, but everything was pushing the young Jedi Knight back to the memories of his verbal altercation with Retsbom Aton. Who else was around them, what exactly did he say, what brought them to this situation?
