- The Tyr creates an encryption-lock between it and other tactical command networks registered on the same frequency, preventing slicing and sabotage while securing important communications.
- Other Tyr command networks registered on the same frequency are able to securely share sensor data, communications and other information within a pre-established Fleet Data Network (FDN), allowing for more integration between a command ship and subordinate units. Fleet Data Networks allow for easy communication, and also offer control options to push out mass-communications to different formations and compositions, increasing the efficiency of inter-fleet coordination.
- A secure holo-network enables the transfer of real-time holofeeds between ships on the same frequency, as well as access to the holonet and other communications service from a secure, anonymous standpoint.
- Advanced security protocols are able to isolate sabotage attempts and either prevent them or terminate the compromised access port, preventing slicers from accessing the system.
- A long-range hyperwave transmitter enables the Tyr to communicate with various transponders across the galaxy. Communication between other tactical command networks and within a Fleet Data Network much more instantaneous than between a Tyr and a different model of transceiver.
- Can translate spoken speech and data from any foreign language or numerical value to a requested language. Factory translated language is Galactic Basic.
- Is able to decrypt any data package provided that the corresponding key is installed into the Tyr.
- High-Speed Communications: An advanced hyperwave transmitter enables intergalactic communications at incredibly fast speeds, and this is upgraded to near-instantaneous data-sharing when a Tyr is communicating within a Fleet Data Network. This allows for better coordination between units and increases the efficiency of communication and data sharing between fleets, individual ships and other command stations.
- Secure Connection: The Tyr is created to be hyper-encrypted, ensuring a secure and non-sliceable connection between ships. The Tyr creates an encryption-lock between it and other tactical command networks that are registered on the same frequency; Fleet Data Networks utilize a dedicated encryption key assigned to the flagship the network, enabling third-party encryption that only further secures the network. In addition to that, advanced security protocols are able to identify and isolate sabotage attempts on a connection and are able to autonomously either take preventative action or completely terminate the compromised access port, preventing slicers from acessing the system.
- Hunk of Metal: There is no way around it; the hyperwave transmitters of the Tyr are quite large as they are designed for capital ships, and starfighter-sized ships do not have a sufficient size or power draw to install the Tyr.
- Terminated Port: While the security protocols ability to terminate a compromised port from the system, this does leave whatever ship or access point completely cut off from communications and the Fleet Data Network, a tricky and unlucky position for a ship within a major battle. In addition to that, a hefty amount of coding and reprogramming is required before a terminated port can be re-added to a Fleet Data Network.
Communications that are fast, efficient and secure have been regarded by many as one of the most essential components to a well-functioning fleet. Excellent coordination between ships is almost always a key factor in naval victories, and as such Roble Manufacturing developed the MXC-T18 Tyr Tactical Command Network, a part-transmitter, part encrypted communications network that would serve as a military-grade secure communications network. With encryption measures and security protocols, the key feature of the Tyr is its ability to create Fleet Data Networks -- pre-established databases that conform to a fleet's composition, allowing for heightened integration between a command vessel and its subordinate units with faster and more secure data sharing. The set-up of a Fleet Data Network can be made prior to any operation, and will work best if all ships in that fleet are equipped with the Tyr. All-in-all, the Tyr is a powerful and secure communication network that will increase the coordination between fleets if used properly.
