L O S T
Hello there!
So I've been someone who's written for as long as she can remember, whether it's short stories, (poorly) attempted novels, or poems. While I've had a few pieces quietly published (as part of a larger selection) I've never actually gone out of my way to enter things such as competitions.
Until now.
I was emailed a request to submit a piece to a Fantasy Competition, however the individual who sent said email informed me of the competition a little too late, with entries having closed two days ago. I was happy to find that they had a further selection of competitions ongoing, and since I recently completed a short story for Jon's Weekend Treasure Hunt I have opted to submit the piece to their "Reinvent Reality" Sci-Fi competition.
I changed up the setting, or at least I switched out the Star Wars terms, and while I realise that for the most part the piece could have taken place in a non-Sci Fi setting if I wished to adapt it that way, I felt that the obvious sense of the unknown would be enough to make it work.
Add to this the revelation made at the end, and therein lies the metaphysical reinvention of reality. After all, I get a kick out of twisting requirements. I could have altered it to fit into any number of the other competitions, but I felt that this was where it would be best suited.
If anyone has the time to, please check out my submission, maybe offer a review and if you think it warrants it then I'd be grateful for a vote or two. I feel like this is going to be a useful experience, and a decent way to have my writing critiqued. The competition is open until October 7th, so feel free to come and submit something too!
