- Firepower: The Shrike carries a good amount of launched and dropped munitions, giving it exceptional abilities against armored targets like tanks, fortifications and warships.
- Fuel hungry: Most of the bomber’s internal space is taken up by its weapons systems, and due to its high speed it lacks both loiter time or long range. The shrike can only make a few hyperspace jumps and attack runs before it must return to a hanger or carrier for refueling and rearmament.
The Shrike Light Bomber has an odd role within Nothmir’s fleet doctrine, acting in part as an alternative to the N-2 Owl Ground Attack Fighter. The Shrike carries fewer laser cannons for strafing ground targets but a greater volume of munitions intended for hard targets such as armour, bunkers, or capital ships. While this limits the length of engagements the bomber can participate in, it does give it much higher single-strike firepower. With these characteristics in mind, the Shrike is primarily used to punch holes in strongpoints in preparation of an armored or infantry assault while relying on its speed to escape interceptors and AA fire. As well the bomber is useful against capital ships due to its payload of torpedoes, either busting shields or destroying critical systems to soften a target for a finishing blow by a friendly cruiser.
