OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a basic template in the form of a prototype facility which can act as the basis for future location codex' with the same principle energy and resource manufacturing capacity.

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Erinar Powerplant and Fuel refinery - N&Z PF One
  • Classification: Power plant with integrated wastemanagement facility and fuel refinery
  • Location: Erinar
  • Affiliation: N&Z Umbrella Corporation
  • Accessibility: As a powerplant, there are some safety precautions and security is mandated at all times, but since none of the operations within are a trade secret and extreme precautions have been taken for the general safety of the location, it is essentially open to the public in the form of agreed upon guided tours under supervision and ofcourse there are the offices which are generally open to the public during working hours as a location for information and the usual logistics and administrative tasks that are part of running the facility.
  • Description: Unlike the usual image and idea of a powerplant, the PF One symbolizes a new concept as a powerplant, no longer utilizing cooling towers and the likes and instead relying on state of the art waste management and reuse of waste material. The cooling is as such done in a different way, allowing the site at a glance to look more like a generic industrial site akin to a shipyard or factory rather than what people are used when they conjure up the image of a power plant within their mind.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Reactor grid: This is the very heart of the PF One, One of the larger industrially styled buildings containing a controlled array of F.A.R. reactors is lined up around a central hub which collects and distributes the generated energy in the form of electricity to connected powergrids and transformators. Venting systems also are placed over the reactors in order to drain and transport the wasteproduct of the reactors in the form of Noxium A gas. It also counts half a dozen heatsinks per reactor in order to drain away any excess heat towards the fuel refinery listed below.
  • Fuel Refinery: Located at a significant distance from the reactor grid, this place is where all the airvents draining the wasteproducts and the heatsinks draining excess heat lead to. In this place, the Noxium A gas is heated up to extreme temperatures to further break down the gas from the insanely poisonous heavy Noxium A gas into the slightly less toxic and much more useable Noxinium B gas, which is highly flammable and thus this process is dangerous and should only be done in a controlled area such as this refinery.
  • Stockage Hangars: These are buildings located near the Fuel refinery where the Noxium B gas is transported to in large temporary containers before those are supercooled, emptied and cleaned, while the now liquid Noxium B gas is pressurized and stored in universal containers ready for transport.
  • Offices: The main hub for the logistics and administrative tasks pertaining to the powerplant and fuel refinery, these offices provide a nice working environment for the safety inspectors, a central hub for the on site security and a diversity of conference rooms and an aula for large scale meetings and symposiums.
  • Transport Hub: This place is a large dockyard allowing small to medium transport ships and freighters to haul cargo to much larger ships in orbit, or for haulers to transport the products to other places on the planet.

SECURITY
High

  • N&Z Security, Internal Security: The N&Z Umbrella Corporation's own internal security will provide the men and women necessary to safeguard any asset and location exploited by the N&Z. In case of the PF One, the choice came to two dozen rotating teams of ten to twenty men functionally running the entirety of the security duties and operations, with at least two rotating logistical support teams. They would ofcourse be helped by the other security meassures as listed below.
  • Electrified perimeter fences.
  • Security/Sentry posts: Managed by the aforementioned N&Z Security, these posts are mainly located at the entry points of the industrial site of PF One, with a few more spread around the site to ensure very good coverage. Each of these Sentry posts holds one ZMDIII Type QB/L "Queen Bee" with a full detachment of ZMDIII Type WB/1 "Worker Bee" drones.
  • Visual and Audio recording devices
  • Entry clearance levels and badges with biometric coding.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
As part of the N&Z's desire to expand into the lucrative energy market, the idea of utilizing the old F.A.R. reactors in a controlled form as a power grid and power plant seemed to be the most logical choice. Ofcourse the design immediately saw the use of the waste management in order to turn the waste materials of the F.A.R. reactors into another lucrative product on the same energy market: Fuel.

Because it is know that the utilization of Infinium within the F.A.R. reactors leads to the expelling of the highly toxic heavy Noxinium A gas, safety meassures had to be made to collect this waste product including any excess heat from the reactors to be sent to a separate facility in the power plant's grounds where the Noxium A could be further processed into the efficient Noxium B gas, which is the standard fuel used by the N&Z for its products and which would provide the company a platform to further expand the appeal of Noxium B to potential customers.

Erinar was chosen to be the first location and which this new layout for a powerplant would be tested, with the first stage of contrustion having started in 900 ABY, the plans mainly ensuring safety of the construction and including several stress tests and structural safety tests in order to make sure that future locations following the same layout would not be compromised or defective, let alone structurally unsound.

After the tests had been concluded, the whole facility was broken down into easily transportable pieces, before they reassembled the facility at the exact location planned for the PF One to truly be located, this in due as being a final test to see whether or not prefab construction would lead to any changed in the structural integrity of the facilities.

A further testrun had been sanctioned in 901 ABY to make sure the facility could operate flawlessly and the security meassures and safety meassures were correctly implemented and would indeed make sure the facility would operate smoothly, even when under duress.

The Erinar "prototype" was christened the N&Z PF One facility and currently produces enough power that it currently outstrips demand by 14% and allows for the temporary storage in form of power cells, thus further increasing the use of the facility.
