The Royal Jedi Knights are a small fragment of Jedi dedicated to the protection of Naboo, Theed, the palace and the crown. More specifically, they are the hands of the monarchy. Tasked with various roles including intelligence gathering, interrogation, espionage, and above all, the defense of the planet's capital city. Each of the six Knights have spent the majority of their lives training within various Jedi networks such as the Academy, as well as the New Jedi Order, and privately through individual Jedi Masters. Though each Jedi retains their individuality, they all share one common ideal: the protection of the populace, and seeing to Naboo's sovereignty.

Each Knight is provided with standard equipment consisting of either Jedi Robes or Armor, a GE-PES and GE-ATC for personal protection, as well as advanced Ocular Lenses to greatly enhance their vision. Their lightsabers are of typical design, lacking any notable flare or advanced circuitry. The coloration of their crystals vary between a vibrant blue to a warm yellow, and a brilliant emerald. The six are typically found at Theed Palace as they have each been provided rooms within the western wing to call their own. While rare, they do venture out of the palace on occasion at the request of the crown, though the nature of their business is kept a closely guarded secret.
While each member of this unit are highly trained and remarkably educated, they are not equipped with the numbers nor the resources to replace a formidable military force, nor single handedly prevent an invasion from breaching the palace. These are elite defenders of Theed, the palace, and the crown. They are Naboo loyalists, but they are not the crusading zealots of Jedi long past. They have not sworn oaths to any particular Jedi Order, nor do they serve to eradicate the Dark Side. Like Jamie, their dedication is to Naboo's sovereignty and protection above all else, they've simply accepted the Light Side of the Force as their ally in doing so, believing that the Dark Side taints and poisons the mind and soul of those with even the strongest of will.
