Crushgaunt: Like a normal crushgaunt, the Brandgaunt exponentially enhances the grip-strength of the wearer, allowing them to crush bone and most common metals without much resistance. Tougher materials take much longer to deform, but it can be achieved given enough time.
Melt-o-matic: The NT-1 used in the palm is heated up to extreme temperatures by the circuitry running through the inside of the gauntlet. The myoflex-insulator underlay and thermal gel make sure that the user’s hand isn’t burned to a crisp during the process. This enables the wearer to not only grapple and crush various enemy appendages, but also to melt most common materials very quickly, providing a host of opportunities to the creative mercenary in close-quarters combat.
EMP/Ion resistant: The reinforced duraplast and faraday cage afford an exceptional level of resistance against electromagnetic and ion damage, thus ensuring that the gauntlet can continue working normally.
Electricity: It’s made of metal, and the added NT-1 certainly doesn’t help. Getting hit by some form of electricity would likely fry its internal systems. And, of course, your hand.
Break me, shake me: Like most armor, the E-series Brandgaunt fares rather poorly against kinetic damage. A solid hit would be enough to break the delicate bones of the hand. Blasters will also pierce the duraplast within a shot or two – the exception to this is the palm, which could withstand many more blaster bolts due to the NT-1.
Flash or sizzle: Attempting to use the heat setting of the Brandgaunt for more than thirty seconds at a time will result in failure of the armor and severe burns to the user’s hand. *
The Elite-series Brandgaunt is the evolution of the renowned crushgaunt of the Mandalorians.
Well, okay, so maybe you can’t catch lightsabers with it, but who does that anyway? It’s not a very viable combat maneuver, and Nadir is all about viable combat maneuvers. Thus Nadir brings you, the aspiring mercenary, criminal, or other illegal professional, its new top-of-the-line product: the Brandgaunt.
Usually, the high heat-conductivity of NT-1 is a downside in armor and weapon construction, but Nadir has the money to employ all kinds of ingenious talent. One of them went – hey, we could use this, and they made it happen.
The intricate internal design doesn’t allow for a wide range of production, but the end result is well-worth shelling out those additional credits.
Not only does the Brandgaunt feature all the abilities of the crushcaunt you love – it also comes with a powerful new capability lovingly dubbed Burn, baby, burn.
The micronized NT-1 used in the palm of the gauntlet maintains structural integrity even at absurdly high temperatures, and is thus uniquely suited for this task. The circuitry integrated into the NT-1 is able to heat it up very quickly thanks to its natural properties, which the wearer can use in a variety of situations.
Nadir recommends a few scenarios. In grappling your opponent, instead of merely crushing their wrist, you can now melt the armor encasing it, causing crippling pain and third degree burns. Or, perhaps in a different bout, you might manage to grab your opponent’s visor – the perfect opportunity to engage the heat setting and melt that layer of protection right into their face.
Of course, the design isn’t faultless. Despite the extreme heat-dispersing and insulating measures in place, the temperatures required to melt most materials are just as high. In practice, this means that the wearer cannot simply engage the heat setting and go ham – it must be used sparingly, with a tactical mind. Heating the NT-1 for more than half a minute will overload all the protection in place, causing severe damage to the user and destroying the gauntlet beyond repair.
