PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Naestra is a scholar at heart. More interested in studying than anything else, learning all that she can about everything. The secrets of the force being one of her favorite subjects of study, and most often she turns to the ancient history of the Jedi, and yes the Sith too, to relearn what had been forgotten rather than discover it all over again. She is an excitable woman, good-hearted in nature and eager to share her knowledge with anyone who has the patience to listen. She was never good at keeping her emotions in check, though she's never let herself lose control to anger, more often falling into brief lapses of despair or grief following tragedies. She constantly feels the need to help people, to use her knowledge and power to benefit those around her, and has many times in the past felt stifled by the dogma of the Jedi Order, frequently taking matters into her own hands to do something she knows the council would disapprove of.
STRENGTHS
Very Strong Force Powers: Her study of the force is one that isn't easily matched, knowledge long buried beneath the Jedi Temple's furthest depths and unearthed from old Jedi worlds like Ossus or Tython granting her abilities long forgotten to the greater galaxy.
Empathetic: She's very much attuned to the people around her, able to sense anguish of all kinds and learn of their source.
Studious: She loves to learn. If there is a secret to be found, it will be.
Duelist: She uses an unconventional weapon compared to other Jedi, meaning not many are prepared to fight against her when conflict breaks out.
WEAKNESSES
Spirit of the law: She follows the rules… usually. She's more likely to pursue justice rather than follow the law. If a law is unjust, she would break it without a second thought.
People first: Her empathy has proven to be a double edged sword. She can sense anguish, fear and other such emotions and connect with the people feeling them. But this makes her particularly weak to the use of hostages. Anyone who takes even a single innocent person hostage has effectively beaten her before the fight ever started.
HISTORY
Naestra grew up on Isobe for the first five years of her life. Even then she was a bookworm, spending more time in the library than playing with her friends or learning arts like the other Sephi children. When her force sensitivity was discovered she was taken to the Jedi temple for training. During her life as a youngling she did as she had done before, spending every spare second she had with her nose in a book or a scroll, digging deeper and deeper into the Jedi archives, and even finding the old ones that were no longer used. Studying their history all the way back to the times of the Je'daii, where she became utterly fascinated with the old ways of the Je'daii, and noting how staggeringly different they were from the Jedi she knew now.
Her studies drew her to greater and greater things of interest. Her ultimate goal was to relearn the old ways of Je'daii force alchemy. And her first step was the making her weapon. In the weeks leading up to the day she was meant to go to Illum and obtain her Kyber Crystal she had ventured outside the Jedi Temple and found herself a number of Durasteel scraps, which she then did her best to shape into a weapon the way that the old manuals described. The weapon she made was imperfect, but it was a sword nonetheless, and she smuggled it with her to Illum. Once she had her crystal she took the first chance she had to put it in the hilt of her sword, which was a resounding success and attracted the attention of the Jedi masters, who then gave her special permission to craft a more professionally shaped weapon to imbue in lieu of carrying a lightsaber. She carried that weapon with her into her knighthood, and eventually reforged it as a halberd.
Later in her life she used her more honed skills with alchemy to shape armor for herself, and imbued it with the force in the same way that she had her weapon. And now she wears it whenever she leaves the temple, be that for a sanctioned mission, a personal quest or any other outing of hers.
