A subsidiary of the NAKAIOMA Corporation. Nakaioma Medical is today one of the galaxy's most profitable medical corporations. Functioning as a private healthcare provider, and as an auxiliary to public healthcare services when and if contracted to. Nakaioma Medical is one of the oldest subsidiaries of the conglomerate, and as such has had more time to see itself spread across the galaxy. With many Nakaioma-affiliated medcenters, and other care providers being found as far as some of the most underdeveloped worlds in the Outer Rim. A result to its wartime situations, as similar to GalactiCom Holocommunications, Nakaioma Medical has seen its services put to use on several occasions to provide urgent, and emergency medical relief to various parts of the galaxy, under government contract. In the present day however, it is known for its ease of doing business. Lacking much of the hassle, and red-tape of some of its competition, allowing individuals to sign up for its services much easier.
Divided internally into a number of different divisions, the corporation at large operates in a number of different fields relating to general healthcare. At times being a mere insurance provider, and at others, building entire hospitals, and providing emergency care for victims. Two of its largest divisions can be found in its Care Services sector, and in its Pharmaceuticals sector. With the latter developing medicines that the former later uses on those that require them. Although the majority of its pharmaceutical profits do not come from internal use, of course, but rather selling said products to other care providers across the galaxy. Employing legions of doctors, nurses, orderlies, medical droids, and other healthcare professionals, Nakaioma Medical hires out its trained personnel to planets or systems that require it. Albeit for a price. Many times this initial cooperation will be used as a foot in the door, for further advancement into the area.
Officially touting itself as an entity of "Doctors without borders", in reality, Nakaioma Medical, much like the rest of the NAKAIOMA Corporation, is all-too aware of situations in the galaxy. And to avoid public embarrassment of evacuating their staff and resources from a region, or the controversy or their personnel dying in the field. Without government contracts, they will not often approach an active warzone, or somewhere with the potential to become one. Over the past several centuries, the corporation has continuously absorbed smaller companies in the industry, and has been criticized often for its aggressive lobbying across the galaxy, to diminish public healthcare in favor of expanding the reigns, and customer base of private healthcare. Nakaioma Medical's response to this is typically one praising the far superior care of the private sector, in comparison to the public one.
Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to the NAKAIOMA Corporation's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked, and feared-when required, among the core elite.
