SPECIAL FEATURES
- Extensive Sensor Array: Sporting an extensive array of sensors, the Napasji is designed to detect everything from life forms to weapons, which aids in its role as a patrol craft. Additionally, some (oppressive) governments have taken to outfitting these airspeeders with communications scanners and other small-scale surveillance equipment, though this is not standard equipment.
- Tractor Claw: An essential feature for apprehending criminals, the rear section of the Napasji has a personnel tractor beam projector that can pull a creature, up to the size of a particularly burly human, into an internal compartment and restrain them; larger creatures could always be restrained on the outside of the craft, if one isn't too picky about "individual rights".
- Hijacking Countermeasures: Because its weapons could do considerable damage to the civilians it is meant to protect, the Napasji is outfitted with a slew of anti-hijacking features; typical examples include biometric scanners, hardwired remote overrides, lethal-force inhibitors, and occasionally even an auxiliary droid brain made to wrestle control away from irresponsible users and fly the airspeeder back to the nearest airfield, military base, police precinct, or similar.
- Aerial Acrobat: With its high speed and impressive manoeuvrability, the Napasji is able to deploy swiftly and efficiently, even in the chaos of a galactic metropolis.
- Potent Enforcer: While less armed and armoured than many a military aircraft, the Napasji is still capable of resisting just about anything common criminals can fire its way while dishing out punishment in equal measure. Notably, its heavy stun cannon is able to knock out droves of unarmed or lightly armed combatants in a single shot, and has a relatively high firing rate; it is, however, all but useless against shielded combatants, heavily armoured combatants, droids, and vehicles.
- Reach for the Stars: Due to its unusually powerful repulsors and capable ion drive, the Napasji is able to reach low orbit, though as with all airspeeders it is incapable of actual spaceflight.
- Vulnerable Wings: While normally shielded, just like the rest of the aircraft, the Napasji's wings are otherwise quite vulnerable. If one is lost or heavily damaged, the resulting loss in stability and manoeuvrability could quickly prove catastrophic.
- Nonmilitary: Despite being fully capable of forming the backbone of a particularly frugal Planetary Defence Force, any real military threat will sweep aside these airspeeders like a hot knife through butter. There is, after all, only so much one can accomplish with a pair of laser cannons and a light deflector shield.
Named after the Sith word for "Defender", the Napasji is at its core a law enforcement vessel, with over half its weaponry typically dedicated to non-lethal takedowns. While it is certainly armed enough to deal significant damage to the people it is meant to protect, most benevolent users tend to heavily restrict the use of these weapons, with some even removing the laser cannons outright, while others merely make use of the numerous anti-hijacking and misfire safeguards Akiratis' engineers are only too happy to install, for a reasonable price.
As with most law enforcement vehicles, the Napasji is made to be seen, something that is evident in the design of its sleek hull and extendable wings, though more autocratic governments have been known to keep the original black hull and dampen the sound of the engines, allowing these vessels to emerge from the black of night to strike fear into the populace.
