OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Nar Vaadu
  • Demonym: Nar Vaaduan
  • Region: Wild Space, Hutt Space,
  • System Name: Nar Vaadu
  • System Features: The system orbits a White Dwarf Star, where the star glows like a biolumenescent creature (it glows and can be seen all over but does not really produce light to the other celestial bodies present to a great degree). Nar Vaadu itself sits within the habitable zone produced by the star, where it is rather distant, which makes the sky on the planet very dark even during the day. Aside from that, there is a thin asteroid belt past the planet of Nar Vaadu that is home to small mining stations granted permission to operate by the planet's authority, and an icey dwarf planet that has shown to have no resources and minimal strategic value known as Wermo.
  • Location: Same hex as the planet Aylayl, in the upper right corner of that hex.
    • Gray dot shows where to put the planet in the hex.
      NarVaaduMap.JPG
  • Major Imports: Almost all resources, particularly raw resources, are imported to this planet due to its inhospitable junkyard landscape and growing ecumonopolis. Many raw building materials, scrap metal, refuse from across Hutt Space, much of the food on this world (granted there are also noticeable greenhouses that work for subsistance farms for denizens of the world), and much more in terms of raw resources are imported to Nar Vaadu.
  • Major Exports: Through its ever-growing industry, ships, droids, and other machines designed to serve are exported from Nar Vaadu. Additionally, there are underworld operations that utilize Nar Vaadu's mostly-neglected nature to ferry their goods through the system. Spice, arms, and gear smuggling are not uncommon in the slightest on this planet.
  • Unexploited Resources: The planet was made into a junkyard by the ancient Hutt Cartel after discovering it as a barren rock with no resources of value. However, that does mean that across its landscape there are centuries (at the least) worth of scrap metal and other salvage.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard
  • Climate: Nar Vaadu is normally rather cold with minimal wind, and no precipitation. There is a very thin and dry atmosphere that adds to its near-inhospitable nature. The cold temperatures on this planet come from how minimal heat and light comes from the system's star.
  • Primary Terrain: Beneath the centuries-worth of junk piles that cover the planet's surface, or the foundations of Voontara City's skyscrapers and factories, there is a barren and rocky surface to this planet.
  • Atmosphere: Type II
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Voontara City, or more commonly known as "Scrap City," is the only population center on the planet that could be classified as a city and is where the current (as of this post) Hutt regime has its authority centered.
  • Planetary Features:
    • Voontara City: The capital city of Nar Vaadu that has recently been constructed by the Scrap Master's orders shortly after the Fa'athra takeover. It is the start of a growing ecumonopolis landscape that will eventually take over the entire planet's area if things go on track as they are. It is a large industrial cityscape riddled with crime that serves the Scrap Master's rule.
      • Scrap Master's Palace: This massive structure dominates the central areas of Voontara City. It is a towering structure built in the fasion of a Hutt palace, but is far taller and larger as a way to assert more dominance. Its lower levels are filled with droid maintance areas, dungeons, beast pens, and a large arena. Its main level has the typical areas of a Hutt palace with a large cantina area, several small rooms for meetings or private matters being dealt with in the Scrap Master's court, and a large throne room hidden away from the rest of the rooms on the level. The upper levels are then all living quarters and security rooms for the palace, with the largest room being on the top floor as the Scrap Master's penthouse.
      • Voontara Space Port: The only space port on the planet, Voontara Space Port is strategic in the fact that it is the one place there is a garunteed safe landing on the planet of Nar Vaadu. It is able to house shuttles, small freighters, and other ships that may typically land on a planet's surface. Around it is a giant bizarre where countless small market stalls have been erected as a way for denizens of the Voontara City to try to make money off of visitors to the planet. The space port is located near the central areas of Voontara City, where there is a clear view of the Scrap Master's palace from its speeder platforms where one can travel to other areas of the city.
      • Vaadu Shipyard: A primary area of Voontara City's industry is the shipyard that was constructed. Treated metal is taken to this shipyard where the Scrap Master's workers assemble ships either commissioned by offworlders attracted to such a deal due to the low price and lack of regulation, or work to add more ships to the Scrap Master's fleet that is used to protect the planet of Nar Vaadu from invaders. Around this shipyard, located near the outskirts of Voontara City for ease of ship traffic and the large open area available, is not only home to drydocks where ships can be assembled and launched from, but also a landing area for large ships needing maintanance, stolen ships that need to be broken down, or decomissioned ships that the owner wants disposed of cheeply and with discretion. While the construction of ships at this shipyard does happen somewhat regularly, it is more likely to see the Scrap Master's workers tirelessly disassembling ships that were either stolen or disposed of. Additionally, whole tenament style housing is provided for the workers where they can live nearby where they work and for cheap taxes/rent to the Scrap Master.
      • Heating Plants: With how little light comes from the star of the Nar Vaadu system, the planet of Nar Vaadu is very cold and dark. To counteract this, there are several industrial plants in the lower levels of Voontara City specifically dedicated towards generating heat that will radiate to the upper and more inhabited levels of the growing ecumonopolis. These look like giant factories, but going near them one can feel the immense heat that radiates from them. More often, droids are what operate these plants due to their ability to withstand the severe temperature better than biological beings. These plants function not through pipelines that transfer hot air to other areas, but rather pump the hot air into the atmosphere where the heat radiates to the surrounding area.
      • Smelting Spires: Much of Nar Vaadu's industry is focused on processing the waste produced by Hutt Space. Multiple foundries exist as massive skyscrapers that both process the salvage that covers Nar Vaadu's surface into usable materials, they also help with the disposal of stolen ships, speeders, or other items that are sold for scrap and parts. These smelting facilities finish the process of sorting the parts from such items that are disassembled in the shipyard for said parts to be sold on the black market. These spires poke up from the lower levels of the city and form an interesting silouette for the skyline as pillars of fire often spurt up from the exhaust chimneys of these facilties mixing with the lights and speeder traffic of the upper levels. Oftentimes, the traffic of the upper levels has to adjust to the exhaust flairs of the taller of these spires. All the while, countless workers toil in the lower floors of these spires in order to keep the machinery maintained.
      • Casino High-Rises: Much of the larger buildings of Voontara City are occupied by glamourous casinos that work to show the oppulance of the Scrap Master's cartel. It does little to hide the grungy nature of the world, nor the fact that Voontara City is seen as one of the most shady locations in Hutt Space, however their role as a money-maker and structural display of power does prove to be a successful effort. Many of the planet's elite live in the high-rise apartments that join in with the megastructure of the casino towers. These collection of large towers form the major element of the Voontara City skyline with the impressive structures looming over the landscape and revolving around the Scrap Master's Palace. Said high-rises also serve as places for luxury shops and stores where the elite of Voontara City are able to purchase high-end goods and services that befits their station in Nar Vaaduan high society.
      • Lower Tenaments: Possibly the most expansive of residential areas, and making up any towering megastructures on the outskirts of the city, or making up much of the lower level structures, these crammed apartments are where many residents of Voontara City and Nar Vaadu live. These tenaments are the epitome of a slum. They are cramped, and extremely filthy. They house factory workers, small shops, lower-level members of the Scrap Master's Cartel, and other people who have recently taken up residence on Nar Vaadu.
      • Voontara City Sump Fields: The lowest level of Voontara City is where the foundations of the buildings meet the landscape of junkyard scrap-heaps. This lowest of levels is where all filth that is generated by the city collects and pools into a giant sump. It is a junk-covered swamp of utter filth. The only people that may dwell in this dark area beneath all the megastructures of Voontara City are scavengers and hermits. Debtors to the Scrap Master often retreat from the upper levels to hide down in this area where one is considered dead after it is found they retreated down into the sump fields. The atmosphere is extremely toxic due to all the scrap piles, filth pools, and fumes generated by both mixing. All that is cared about in this lowermost layer is whether or not maintanance droids need to be sent to ensure the structural integrity of Voontara City. Everything else though, this area is completely neglected by the Scrap Master and upper level operations of Voontara City.
    • Sea of Slag: In the Southern Hemisphere of Nar Vaadu, a large pit of molten metal and waste-sludge has pooled into an area that is the size of an ocean. It is believed that in the older times of Nar Vaadu's history as a disposal sight, reactor cores, and other energy producing machienry were piled into this location but were never fully deactivated. Over time, the heat and radiation from these reactors melted the surrounding scrap, and turned into a liquid state. Slowly, more scrap got piled on, causing more metal to join the slag pit. Milennia later, and this Sea of Slag has now stopped expanding with efforts made to not dispose of new scrap in its vacinity. However, the molten metal has mixed with radioactive runoff, and other fluids leaked from surrounding heaps, which keeps this sea in its liquid state. This area is completely inhospitable to organic life alongside droids and machinery. Anything that wades into the molten stew of sludge is melted down into it, and radiation levels cause any organic beings to become sick just by being near it.
    • Glowing Pools: Another place where radioactive runoff from scrap-heaps has pooled, however instead of melting the metal around it, this collection of runoff simply pools in valleys between mountains of junk. These pools have become so concentrated with whatever fluids have mixed together and collected into them that they produce radiation higher than being near destabolized reactor core. These glowing pools of miscelaneous radioactive liquid can be seen by the naked eye from close-orbit during the night. The eerie green pools also have claimed the lives of many scavengers and junkers over the years Nar Vaadu has been used. To this day, carbon "statues" litter the vicintiy of these pools from where scavengers succumbed to the severe radiation and their bodies were transformed afterwards.
    • Sludge Lakes: The last body of collected fluids would be made by the runoff from Voontara City. The sump fields have collected much of the filth over the years, however there is still runoff that is produced as a means to keep it from flooding up towards the lower levels with the foundires and tenaments. Thus, the runoff of waste sludge from the city pooled into several valleys and created collections the size of lakes. While not inherently dangerous, they are disease-ridden areas where the sludge and contiminants found in the sump fields of Voontara City are far more concentrated and exposed to more of Nar Vaadu's elements. Being nearby them is also to discover an extremely noxious stench from the collection of highly concentrated waste sludge pooled into a large area.
  • Major Locations: Port Junka is the orbital station to Nar Vaadu. It started as the only place that functioned as an inhabited area. This station was the home of the Junk Lords in the planet's old history before the Fa'athra takeover. In present time (as of this post), Port Junka has been deemed its name and it functions as a small trading post for those who do not wish to go to the planet's surface to do business with the powers that be on Nar Vaadu. Much of the station functions as a massive bizarre with various traders selling wares marked in varying degrees of legality in other sectors of the galaxy. Port Junka is a dangerous crime hub compared to the surface being an industrial seat of power. The most order that is kept on the station is ensuring that the inhabitants do not destroy it.
  • Force Nexus: N/A

POPULATION
  • Native Species: N/A - All species that live on Nar Vaadu are immigrated due to the planet originally having no native life (aside from possible microbes) when it was originally discovered.
  • Immigrated Species: All species on Nar Vaadu have immigrated to the planet due to there being no native sentient life forms.
  • Population: Heavy - While much of the planet is undeveloped with only a few scavenger outposts, the population of Voontara City is very high and dense with it still growing with outcasts migrating to it almost regularly for refuge and prosperity.
  • Demographics: It is a large mixture of Human and Alien inhabitants with no clear majority (though population does lean towards Alien). With how the different races interact, it is very akin to that of Nar Shaddaa where certain areas have different inhabitants living among each other due to shared culture and language. However, there is hardly much tension.
  • Primary Languages: Huttese is treated as the true language on Nar Vaadu, however there is an ample amount of Galactic Basic spoken as well.
  • Culture: Daily life on Nar Vaadu is akin to living under Hutt rule on an industrial world. Many residents of the planet spend their days working exhausting shifts in factories that have varying conditions, others work shops that have flexible legality, smuggling operations are rampant, countless people live in squalor while a wealthy elite acts are near-rulers, and crime is everywhere with criminals who do not threaten those who are in charge allowed to do as they please. There is a strong sense of tyranny with the army of droids patrolling almost every street in Voontara City, and how enforcers of the Scrap Master are free to do as they please as long as they do not damage any property. In the wastelands outside of Voontara City, a slowly dying lifestyle of a scavenger living freely is predominant. Many hide out in such lands as hermits too, if they came to Nar Vaadu to escape persuers. Hutt culture is dominant with sports, art, music, holidays, and more coming from the Hutt tradition.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: In the present time (as of this post), Nar Vaadu is held under a government akin to a criminal dictatorship. The Scrap Master, as they are called, rules the system and planet with an iron fist proclaiming all territory in the system as personal property due to the old plots of land ruled by the Junk Lords now being consoldiated under one owner and ruler. The Scrap Master is the sole authority on the planet while everyone else is treated as renting tennants rather than citizens. Much of the industry and commerce on the planet takes place in service of the cartel created by the Scrap Master, and said cartel is structured in the Hutt fashion of heirarchy.
  • Affiliation: This planet is currently (as of this post) ruled by a Hutt known as the Scrap Master. While it may or may not fall within a certain faction's territory, due to its leadership structure, it is very likely to lean towards any Hutt-friendly group or cirminal underworld faction.
  • Wealth: Medium - Many dwellers of Nar Vaadu would not be considered wealthy in the slightest. Many are factory workers, scavengers, merchants, and other industrial occupations. Furthermore, many security details are performed by droids owned by the Scrap Master, which makes none of the residents able to get work as armed guards and mercenaries unless they are hired by other residents. Only a very elite few that make up the Scrap Master's upper ranks in their cartel posess much wealth with them running casinos and factories in the name of the Scrap Master. Thus, the Scrap Master themself would be the wealthiest person on Nar Vaadu due to all industry going towards their rule. However, Nar Vaadu is nowhere near as wealthy as more developed worlds in Hutt Space, but rather is on the rise. Coming from a world where only scavengers and hermits lived on to a growing city-world leaves wealth levels to be set back compared to other planets.
  • Stability: High - While the rule of the Scrap Master can only be described as criminal tyranny, it does produce a great level of stability and safety for residents of Nar Vaadu. The droid army used by the Scrap Master to keep order in Voontara City never has to sleep or eat, which allows for 24/7 security on its streets. Even such authority is heeded in areas far removed from Voontara City on the planet's surface due to the culture of understanding who owns land on Nar Vaadu.
  • Freedom & Oppression: High levels of oppression due to the tyrannical rule of the Scrap Master (as of this post). Any inklings of rebellion are quickly dispatched. Criminals not acting in the interest of the Scrap Master or one of their Lieutennants are harshly punished. People are free to have their own businesses as long as taxes are paid to the Scrap Master's cartel. Lastly, the Scrap Master owns all land on Nar Vaadu (as of this post), making people who live on the planet seen less as civilians and more as renting inhabitants by the planet's leadership.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: There are no laws in place keeping inhabitants from being armed, which makes the entire population likely to be dangerous if the planet is attacked. Additionally, a large droid army acts as the militant arm of the Scrap Master's authority with it having units patrolling the streets every hour of both day and night with more either being produced in the factories or being imported from manufacturers off-world. A small fleet has also been assembled through ships either being built on Nar Vaadu in its shipyard or by the Scrap Master purchasing ships from off-world providers and having them imported to the planet. While this non-formal military is extensive for a single planet, is primarily exists as a defense force for the planet rather than an army to be used with conquest (as of this post). Additionally, these are not all military-grade ships, droids, and weapons, but rather things criminals may find easily on the black markets. Thus there is hardly much standardization in terms of what ships are being used, what exact models of droids are employed, and what weapons are owned by the population. There are minimal fortifications though.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard technology is used.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Nar Vaadu has usually been neglected. It was first discovered in the early times of the Hutt Cartel's existance, times when the power of Kajiedics were rising after the fall of the Hutt Empire and the Cataclysm of Varl. Upon its discovery, it was found to have no valuable resources, and harldy much strategic value along hyperspace lanes. In such early times, the planet was not even given a proper name. Instead it was left ignored and forgotten aside from being marked on star charts in the more Southern parts of Hutt Space.

As time would pass, the planet would go on neglected still. Occasionally pirates and smugglers would create small dens for small periods at a time, however the most those efforts did was put them in a place obscure from the rest of Hutt Space's authorities rather than anywhere of noteworthy importance. Eventually, the Hutts would pick up on such activity happening relatively close to their adoptive home system where a large fleet was sent to quell any thorns in the side of their acitivites. From there, a plan was made to make proper use of this planet once and for all so that smugglers and pirates will not return, and a few efforts of protection would be reasonably devoted. Additionally, it would finally turn the barren rock with a thin atmosphere into something that could make profit rather than sitting as a potenital liability in the void. The Hutts would turn the planet into their junkyard and dumping ground.

The Hutts would sell plots of land to a bunch of ambitious scavengers, salvagers, and junkers, where they would operate the planet as smaller lords. While these "Junk Lords" managed the daily affairs of the planet that received the name Nar Vaadu, the Hutts were able to receive some profit based on people from Hutt Space, and a few areas beyond, paying the Junk Lords to either be allowed to take salvage from what was disposed in their territory as well as pay the Junk Lords to have them dispose of whatever they asked. Millennia would pass, and the Port Junka, the orbital station for the planet where those who operated things on the planet lived, oversaw the disposal of enough scrap and refuse to cover the surface of the planet within multiple layers of disposed material. Often times, Nar Vaadu would be referred to in kind to that of Lotho Minor, but intead of it being completely neglected in the Unknown Regions, it was managed by the Hutts and sanctioned Junk Lords.

Around the time during the early onset of the Chaos Age, around 900 ABY, much authority across the galaxy would crumble, leaving the Junk Lords on a slightly looser leash to the Hutts than before. Soon, war broke out in Port Junka with frequent gang violence between different Junk Lords' organizations. Some fighting would even take place among scavengers on the planet, which caused business to slow tremendously. Eventually, those wishing to dispose of their refuse on Nar Vaadu began to look elsewhere due to the violence of the Junker Wars creating more danger than many were willing to tolerate with just disposing of their junk or looking for scavenged goods. Many unsanctioned scavengers would take advantage of the chaos on Port Junka, and start scavenging the wastelands of the planet for valuable materials. After nearly a century, the Junker Wars would be resolved with an alliance of Junk Lords taking over their rivals and splitting territory on the planet equally, and agreeing on disposing only certain types of scrap in order to keep their alliance going for the sake of business.

The tenuous peace of the quadumvirate of Junk Lords would persist for centuries, and business once gain returned to Nar Vaadu. Additionally, with far less Junk Lords present, many traders and service opened on Port Junka, turning the orbital station into that of a floating city in full. It would seem as if Nar Vaadu's existance would go unnoticed still for centuries more, which was somewhat true. However, a wayward Hutt of the Fa'athra Clan would soon vye for domination over the junkyard of Hutt Space soon enough. The Hutt known as Keg'rala would swiftly take over the holdings of one of the Junk Lords before the others could react to drive his forces away. Brutally, the Fa'athra takeover assimilated or killed all in that Junk Lord's estate with this incredibly hostile takeover. When the other Junk Lords offered peace with their new neighbor, Keg'rala offered none. He offered them to peacefully join the cartel he was building for the Fa'athra Clan, or die like the others in a futile effort to resist.

One of the Junk Lords surrendered shortly after this ultimatum was delivered, leaving the other two to be brutally taken over in a quick seizure of Port Junka. With all the territory on the planet owned by the Fa'athra Clan, and total domination over Port Junka and the rest of the Nar Vaadu System, Keg'rala the Hutt proclaimed himself as the Scrap Master of Nar Vaadu. However, the new Scrap Master was not content with the old ways of running the planet. Keg'rala wanted to grow his powerbase further, and thus began building a massive city like that of Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa overtop the heaps of waste on the planet's surface. Over two centuries would pass, and the spires of Voontara City were open for workers, gangsters, and any willing migrants to move in. Factories were constructed alongside casinos fascetted into high-rise towers, tenament apartments in more lower level areas, and other industrial facilities (including a shipyard). The construction is ongoing to this day (as of this post), where the reign of the Scrap Master will see Nar Vaadu be turned into an industrial powerhouse of Hutt Space, and the source of redemption for the greatly dishonored Fa'athra Clan.

Closer to present times (as of this post), Nar Vaadu has seen multiple waves of occupation neglect it. First, the Silver Jedi Order took the home system of the Hutts, and other core areas of Hutt Space. However, its borders eneded around where Nar Vaadu sat. The Bryn'adul would carve a swathe of choas, death, and destruction but stop just short of Nar Vaadu's location as well. A Consortium of gangs would try to make Hutt Space a true power among the others in the galaxy once more, however it would only go as far as the core systems, once more neglecting Nar Vaadu. With the rest of the Hutts squabbling amongst themselves, Nar Vaadu remained ignored enough to carry out its business unimpeded. However, now (as of this post), due to the rapid growth of Voontara City, and the industry headed by the Scrap Master, the Hutts now realized that Nar Vaadu is no longer something to be ignored anymore, and the Fa'athra have become far too entrenched to be removed thanks to the efforts of the Scrap Master.

Nar Vaadu, in present times (as of this post) has grown considerably in might. It by no means reaches the levels of oppulance that Nar Shaddaa, and other core Hutt worlds, have achieved. However, it has created an alternative place to go if one wishes to escape into Hutt Space and wants to go to a place more developed than a total backwater. The foundries of Voontara City churn out processed metals to be sold on the black market that originally came from metal scrap that was salvaged in the undeveloped regions of the planet. The Voontara City Shipyard has primarilly been used to construct ships for the Scrap Master's fleet which would be used to protect Nar Vaadu from any exterior threats and be another symbol of the Scrap Master's authority in the system. Additionally, the shipyard takes comissions from offworlders to Nar Vaadu who pay the Scrap Master to construct ships for them at cheaper rates than that of other planets. However, the most common source of usage for the Shipyard would be the dismantling of stolen ships like that of a colossal chop-shop, or the cheaper disposal of ships unfit for using in the present galaxy (as of this post). Casinos provide a source of high life for the elite members of the planet's society, which also happen to be high ranking members of the Scrap Master's Cartel, all the while many workers toil away to provide the industries that have produced the majority of wealth on Nar Vaadu. The Space Port allows for easier landing the planet's surface, and hosts the largest bizarre in the system, as well as the safest market in the system due to Port Vaadu becoming a chaotic black market hub rife with crime unsancitoned by the Scrap Master and only overseen to keep it from plummitting to the planet's surface. Lastly, a massive droid army is employed by the Scrap Master to keep order, due to the Scrap Master's paraonaia over the treacherous nature of organic servants. Meanwhile, numerous scavengers and hermits make their homes beneath the city in the Voontara City Sump Fields, as well as in the junk-covered wastelands outside of Voontara City. The wilderness outside of the city is buffered by an expansion zone where new buildings for Voontara City are being constructed day by day throug the efforts of numerous workers and construction droids. Eventually, the expansion zone gives way to the true wastelands of Nar Vaadu, which is a heavily polluted wasteland almost completely inhospitbable to organic life. All of this, is then overseen by the Scrap Master in a colossal palace located nearby the Space Port at the true center of Voontara City.
