Always good with words and catering to the people, Nathaniel learned language at a young age. Since he was a child, he has thrived in the public eye. During his developing years 'Nate' as his boyhood friends called him even won an oratory award for best speech during an in school contest. If you had told his teachers then that he would one day become a commissioner, they would have believed you.
Organized:
Exceptional organization skills complement his chosen profession. Able to keep himself organized in both his personal and professional life not only keeps his stress levels low and contribute to his healthy constitution but also give him an edge in logical thinking and long term planning. Because of his organizational skills and habits, he is able to worry less when plans change and adapt as the situation requires.
Physically Fit:
Uncommon among politicians, Nathaniel takes great care of himself, his mind and body. Living on a planet where vegetarianism is a particularly common trait, his meals consist of primarily plants, supplemented with fruits and vegetables. This coupled with a strict regimen of physical activity to include running, self defense training, and swimming has helped the Commissioner maintain peak physical condition.
Integrity:
While the realm of politics is a dangerous and constantly shifting sea of semantics and rotating morals, Nathaniel has managed to maintain a straight course, doing what he says he will and not over-promising. He is convicted and to date has remained incorruptible, refusing bribes and "donations" in return for his representation. While gaining the support of the people because of this, he has also made some formidable enemies.

As a true believer of the First Order and imperialism, Nathaniel looks down on other political ideologies and is quick to point out flaws in other systems while up-talking the First Order. He can come across as arrogant which impacts his relations outside of the Empire of the First Order. In addition, he is fiercely loyal to the First Order because of this belief.

Passionate:
The Commissioner is deeply passionate about his work, almost to a fault. When caught up in the moment, this passion can push him higher or bring him crashing down into a flurry of anger. It is a double edged sword which he wields carefully. His passion drives him, but it can also hold him back as he is not willing to budge once his mind is set.
No Weapons Experience:
While spending time around weapons and seeing them, he has little knowledge of how they work or how to use one aside from what he's seen in holo-films. He's never fired a weapon before and wouldn't be much help in a gunfight. Nathaniel doesn't have any personal issues against firearms or blasters but has simply never found them necessary.
Lack of Personal Life:
Because of his public sector responsibilities he has taken the road of the bachelor, living by himself in the shared villa occupied by the governor. Nathaniel finds little time to really let loose and be himself and so he struggles with feelings of loneliness which can negatively impact his demeanor when pushed to his limits or overwhelmed evoking more severe reactions from him than normal.
Easy Living:
Nathaniel has never experienced true hardship and despite his excellent physical shape has had to endure little. His somewhat entitled status has made him more likely to feel out of place and uncomfortable when he is not surrounded by conveniences that he is used to. While he hasn't been spoiled, he certainly has become used to society and would be in a pinch if ever held to the fire.
APPEARANCE:
Standing an even six feet tall, Nathaniel Barret stands an imposing figure. He keeps his hair trimmed short and is typically clean-shaven with little more than a 5 O'clock shadow if anything. Toned muscles and broad shoulders fill out his frame though only weighing around 160 lbs.
BIOGRAPHY:
Not originally born on Riflor, Nathaniel Barrett was the son of a small time politician. The appropriate title would have been city council though to young 'Nate' he could have been the Supreme Leader himself. Enamored with his father's work and the good he could see occurring as his father traveled from planet to planet spreading the work of the First Order. Especially on a world like Riflor he had seen literally rise from the ashes of its former self. Even now the First Order had been working in conjunction with local authorities to continue improving their way of life and giving them hope. Not only on Riflor but on other worlds as well he could see the First Order extending the hand of friendship and driving the hammer of progress. It might have seemed harsh to some, but Nathaniel always saw the motives behind the heavy handed elimination of resistance carried out by the First Order's military forces. He had a hard time wrapping his head around that, why someone would resist what the First Order was providing. Largely stability, in all truth, the First Order was getting the raw end of the deal, shelling out far more support than it received, at least monetarily speaking. The Commissioner of New Advora saw it well though, he knew there was a currency more precious than credits or money. The people's hearts, their minds. Those were his weapons and in many ways they could prove far more useful than a blaster or a slug thrower. He had seen it in action and was a firm believer in agile diplomacy first, the hammer second. For now, he's the Commissioner of Riflor but he had his eyes set higher, convinced he would some day be able to help more than just the people of New Advora
