Need help on a project. Any advice?

I've been kicking an idea around my mind for a while now but, while I love the thought and the way that it could be used in plots and stories, I'm kind of stuck on ways to implement said idea. So I thought "Why not reach out to other members of the SA to see if they have any idea?". So, yeah, this thread was born.

Basically, for those of you who know Overwatch, the idea I had is, essentially,Reaper's wraith form (specifically, like how it was displayed in the cinematic shorts), the ability to collapse one's form into smoke. (For those that don't know Overwatch, see the gif bellow.)

If anyone has a suggestion as to how this could be accomplished (Sorcery, Alchemy, Sith Runes, anything), please do post bellow and let me know. I've been wracking by brain on this matter for a while now.

Also, if you have any criticism about this idea, feel free to leave said criticism bellow as well.

Dude I wish this could be somehow possible. Runes should work, especially the one to alter a physical form, but I feel like the problem is less making something into smoke than returning the smoke into its original form. I will bounce around a few ideas in my head and then get back to you. If we figure this out it will definitely become part of Abyss armor.

Actually I just remembered that this power is somewhat canon. The nightsister mother in the clone wars actually can do something very, very similar and in the wiki it is listed as a form of teleportation

Sounds good. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. As you said, the "Into Smoke" bit is easy, it's the "Into Normal Form" that's the hard bit.

I would suggest tattoos of Sith runes embedded with dark magic. Channeling power through the runes could temporarily transform the wielder into smoke. Disadvantages for the sub could include that the smoke could be sucked up in a fan or otherwise controlled by the unpredictability of certain environmental factors.

I do like the idea of having Rune tattooed onto Lykos so that he can achieve the Wraith Form. And it does sound like the best way to go about it. So, yeah, thank you.

The Form being temporary is an idea that has merit, but I had something a little longer lasting in mind; something that can be controlled at will. It's like I said above, achieving the effect is simple, it's being able to reverse it at will that serves to be the issue.

You could have two parallel rune structures:

One that transforms the body into smoke

and one that keeps the spirit partly disconnected from the body/smoke, so the reverse effect can be used by the spirit

Not my best idea, but sadly the best I got.

It is a good suggestion, but, I'm not sure how well that would work. But, well, it may end up what I'll do as I can't think of anything better at the moment.

What if an item (ring, maybe?) was created with Runes/Sorcery/Alchemy that enables it to stay within the Smoke Form and that it serves as the control switch, so to say, that can enable the transition from smoke back to normal? The item would also serve as like a vessel for the conscious mind, allowing the person to still listen and see.

What do you think?

That sounds like it could work, but would the ring stay unchanged? Because that would reduce the versatility of the smoke form, especially if it is used to traverse below doors or air vents.

I might have another idea, if I could get your thoughts on it.

What if you were to not so much rely on the Runic Tattoos (that seems the best route to follow), but, the Tattoos were but the first stage? The second stage being using Alchemy on oneself to imbue the power within the Runic Tattoos into blood, muscle and bone itself, turning the entire body into, essentially, a giant Runic Cluster. That way, when in Smoke Form, it could be reversed as the power of the Runes (particularly, altering form) would be now fused to the smoke itself as the smoke is made out of the body.

The ring, in this case, would be something additional. Something that helps with seeing and hearing in Smoke Form as, otherwise, the Force would be relied upon to see (not hear, though). Also, the greater weakness would be Force Light, as it could burn away at the Smoke itself, either inflicting damage upon the user of the Smoke Form or, should the entire smoke be burnt away, destroying the body leaving only the spirit behind.

Thoughts?

Maybe this could be also bolstered through a mix of Dwomutsiqsa and an altered version of the Sith Emperor Vitiate's Ritual.

If you might be interested, I've decided that I might as well go ahead with the above idea of how this would work and have started to create something in the Pre-factory (especially since I'm guessing that this would require a lot of dev work for it to be accepted). So, yeah, if you want, feel free to drop something into this thread [x].
