Maneuverability Rating: 2.5

Speed Rating: 2.5

Hyperdrive Class: x1

Strengths:

+Highly maneuverable for its size- Considering that each of the main wings is 16.9 meters long the fact it can turn at a rate higher than "I'm sorry Dave I can't let you do that" is quite helpful.

+Gyro system allows for additional firing angles- Incorporating the B-Wing cockpit and its gyro-stabilization system has opened up the ability to rotate the wings around the cockpit, a trait that is not seen on many fighters and allows the pilot to take advantage of new angles without having to execute a barrel roll or other maneuver to do so.

+Highly durable- The use of laminasteel gives the hull increased durability over the standard durasteel plating used on many fighters.

+Large amounts of fire can be directed at a single target- Four twin barreled autoblasters, two heavy lasers, and a proton torpedo or two is enough to make most hostiles think twice about sticking around a fight. Also they help to shred through shielded fighters or gunships.

Weaknesses:
-Large target from any angle- Again each wing is 16.9 meters in length. This pretty much screams "Over here! Shoot at me! I'm an easy kill!"

-Cramped cockpit-Many vital components had to be moved to the central portion of the hull, making the already small cockpit even smaller.

-Maintenance heavy-Multiple targeting computers, 16 total engines, 4 B-Wing main wings, multiple weapons systems, gyro stabilization...the list goes on...and on...and on. Kinda like the Engergizer bunny.

-Large number of targeting systems means that weapons need to be calibrated before every engagement(or in cases of ambush, during)-While not a physical weakness it is absolutely imperative to the survival of the fighter that as many shots as possible hit. Besides shields can only take so much, and hulls even less. Plus, who doesn't love fireballs and flying through them?

-The number of engines means that the loss of even a single cluster would greatly hamper the fighter- Though the engines work as a singular unit, there is a cluster of 4 on each wing. Losing one makes the fighter harder to control since thrust is now out of whack. Losing an entire cluster? That is taking the entire wing it is connected to meaning 1/4 of your thrust is gone. Don't even start on how much spinning that thing is going to start doing. Seriously you might get sick just imagining it.

Description:After engaging the Final Order over Vandelhelm, Kurayami realized his need for a more lethal craft. He loved his B-Wing, and didn't want to completely abandon it, but he knew that modifications were needed. Eventually he came up with the idea of getting scrapped B-Wing main wings, S-foil actuators to allow him to land the craft normally, and repositioning some of the weapons that were already present. He decided to keep the gyro stabilized cockpit since he enjoyed the flexibility offered during engagements. This would inspire the creation of the X-13.

To accommodate his new design he reinforced the frames with titanium and durasteel using a laminasteel plating to help save weight while maintaining integrity of the hull. The twin auto blasters were moved to the wingtips, and two heavy lasers replaced them under the chin of the craft. On either side of the heavy lasers a single Krupx MG-9 proton torpedo launcher was mounted.

For propulsion, he replaced the stock Slayn and Korpil JZ-5 fusial thrust engines with slightly more powerful 4j.4 fusial thrust engines with a three dimensional thrust vectoring system added to help with maneuverability. However the sheer number of engines was going to mean that the loss of a single engine cluster would be a major hit to the fighter's performance. Also the addition of the thrust vectoring made the craft very touchy, leading Kurayami to nickname it 'Sidewinder' since the too aggressive of an input could easily cause the fighter to slide, and when trying to regain control the motion was similar to that of a snake slithering.

The vital systems had to be relocated to the central hull meaning that there is no space for passengers and even the pilot is working in rather cramped conditions.

Development Thread:If needed

Intent: A long time fan of the B-Wing, but always felt that they could have done a bit more with the design later on down the road. Kurayami has also modified almost every fighter he has ever owned, so I wanted to use the B-Wing as a base for a unique fighter for his character.

Who Can Use This: Kurayami Bloodborn

Primary Source:B-Wing starfighter/XJ-series X-Wing(latter for the engines)

You've come to the right place.

Looks good at the beginning.
Looking at the Special features.

Ok. Those are all very good to have in here. You can remove the engines, just make it known in the Description which are being used, and their number. The 'Can be used in Atmo' can get removed as well. And hyperspace, thats covered later on.

So, one thing to consider. What is the fighter? 1/1 for Speed/Maneuvering is akin to an A-Wing. This is built off B-Wing parts? Thats more 3/3. Also, in your "Model" where you have 'Sidewinder-class' What kind of fighter is it? Interceptor? Bomber?

Once we go through that, I'll tackle Strengths and weaknesses. But we're also going for a very manuverable, like alternative thrusts... similar to Colonial Vipers in BSG, right?

I had no idea where to start for speed and maneuverability. 3/3 seemed a bit low to me given that it is a one off. Not to mention I'm seeing interceptors with .5/.5 ratings so with this having so much available thrust and the usage of thrust vectoring as seen on some next generation fighters, I thought that somewhere in the 2-2.5 range would be fair enough. And for the strengths and weaknesses, again this is my first write up with a set up like this so again any help is appreciated. The model name is more of a placeholder until I could get everything nailed down to figure out exactly where this would fit as a starfighter.

Maneuverability Rating: (The lower the number, the more agile the ship. How agile is your ship? Can it take tight turns? Please provide your vessel a Maneuverability Rating on a scale 0-20, with 0 being infinite agility, 1 being crazy agile like a TIE Interceptor, and 20 being slower to turn than a bantha.)
Speed Rating: (The lower the number, the faster the ship. How fast is your ship in normal space? How fast can it take off, how fast can it speed through a planet's atmosphere? Please provide your vessel a Speed Rating on a scale 0-20, with 0 being infinite speed, 1 being crazy fast like the Millenium Falcon and 20 being slower than the Dewback.)

The above is from the template. Just to bring it in. If I ever sound like I'm talking down, I do NOT mean to. Its just how I am as a person (a terrible person).

Working with the judges, it depends on the judge. You may get a 2-2.5. I just wanted to know which kind of a fighter it is. X-Wings can probably get 2, B-Wings can get 3-4 sometimes. But if you focus this on more of using B-Wing as an inspiration hybridized (thats a word today) but trying to gain a superiority or interceptor specs, a development thread (10, but I like to just run them until I get everything I need) will help the submission!

Once we get what kind of fighter it is, I can help more with strengths and weaknesses.

This is a really good start, let me say that first!

I took a look at the pic I linked and just kinda went from there. Superiority would probably be more in line with what I am looking at though. I understood that you weren't talking down to me, I tend to be rather blunt with explanations myself. I just felt like giving my reasoning behind the starting point, plus I'm relatively flexible on most aspects and yea I was expecting to have to do a dev thread though admittedly I am a bit apprehensive about doing the write up. So any help with that would be great as well(if such things are allowed of course). It's part of me being more of a reactive RPer than one who is constantly working on plot ideas and such.

Thats what I was thinking. Go with Superiority.

If you are looking to do a development thread, one thing I suggest is work off this idea. You've got your concept of a Superiority fighter (I'm imagining a A-Wing being married to a B-Wing, to get something ~Similar to the X-Wing). When you write the development thread, it helps to focus the submission.

Expanding the Strengths/Weaknesses to a sentence or two, to clear up the concepts, could help the submission read a bit easier.

Ships have always been a huge draw for me when it came to star wars. Add to that that I am an aviation buff and techie, well yea. This is my first one here...as for in total over the time I've been writing? I don't even want to try and count...

Impressive work, though since most of what I am using is canon and there is no modularity one thread of 10 (if necessary) should be enough? Course if I end up really getting into working out the design there is the chance it could go on longer.
