Private Needles and Threads

The Panteer Family was one of the longest ruling families in Alderaan history. They were quick to weigh their options and quickly determine what needed to be done. The mother was quick and the daughter well she had made herself Queen during the Sith Occupation, she worked with them to corrupt Alderaan.

It had been sometime since the Sith had left and the Panteers handed back the crown to the Organas. They had all expected a fight but no nothing. There had been some explanations but Faith wasn't sure they restricted the house. No postings to the court, no favors from other houses, and a cut back of the bannerman. It may seem like nothing but it cut their influence.

But now there were opportunities everywhere to provide a post to families who wanted one. But were they trust worthy.

She needed more information. But how to get it without insulting all the other nobles and creating a break.

Kilij Qel-Nosh Kilij Qel-Nosh

Most people did not understand one thing about Kilij, and that was the fact that he was a high-borne noble of one of the twenty-one great houses of Alderaan. Originally he was an isolationist but was as the threats to Alderaan grew and after Alderaan fell into the hands of the One Sith, Kilij decided to devout himself the safety of the Planet. He became a Jedi but felt the order was to cornered in other affairs than the well-being of the people of the galaxy. While he still acted and upheld the values of the Jedi, He made the decision to serve Alderaan first. Thus he was now in the service of Queen Faith Organa Faith Organa . Kilij was not just another loyal advisor, he swore himself as a direct vassal to Faith herself, believing her reign was one for the common good of the people, and that she was not just another scheming noble wanting prestige and power. And Kilij knew how the all the working of Alderaan politics and the peril which came with them.

Kilij entered the throne room, a tall and striking figure, wrapped in golden Jedi robes reminiscent of the High Republic. He paid no heed to the other courtiers and the guards knew to let the Swordmaster pass. "My Queen, you have summoned me." He stated and bowed with great respect before Queen Organa.

"Morning Kilij thank you for coming so quickly. I'm....in a bit of fix" She crossed the room to meet him half way and greet him. She smiled, "Some tea while we talk"

Faith a supporter of tea and cookies throughout the galaxy offered it to every person who walked through the doors. She had to be sure she expressed her intentions, and got Kilij thoughts on it. She would not put him in a position to be put his house in conflict with the others of Alderaan. She knew that House DeVoe under Marina DeVoe Marina DeVoe 's father was loyal and true.

She was working with Alexandra girard from House Girard, and there were a few others that were seeking audience, House Kortu and she had heard rumors about House Thul .

She wanted to make sure to build a firm foundation for Alderaan and all members of the Noble houses, and every citizen on Alderaan had to be included. Otherwise if another attack came they might not survive.

"Tea sounds wonderful." He said as she met him halfway into the throne room. Lady Faith was one for formalities and always showed great respect towards her retainers. He could already tell the affairs of the Great Houses weighed down on her mind, even without the aid of the force. While he could use the force to sense or get an idea of her thoughts, discipline had taught him not to do so out of respect to the Queen.

"My Lady." Kilij spoke to Faith. "May we speak in private, after the attack at the ranch I feel any business should be spoken without the prying ears of those here at court."

Most did not understand that Alderaan was a place of cutthroat politics. Nobles settled scores with cloak and dagger more often than Jedi and Sith settled battles with Lightsabers. Information was key to subverting the plots of rival houses, and the fewer people knew the Queen's business the better, and Kilij wanted to keep it that way. "I hope you have some good news, the mood has been a bit tense since the Flesh Raiders attacked. I fear too that the war with the Maw and the NSO may soon affect things here at home."

"Tea seems like life's blood at times. I drink it every time I feel restless" Faith stepped back, "my sitting room we are alone there except for my Knights". She smiled towards the young man on duty today. Who was this again, she had to remember, "Joshua right from House Frayus, right" The young man nodded but did not speak more of Ikenna Tahj Ikenna Tahj training showing through.

"This way please" She stepped towards the ever present pot. It was always full and ready, everyone around her seemed to know it was her preference. She looked back "Private enough Kilij Qel-Nosh Kilij Qel-Nosh I wonder should I call you Master Jedi, or is there another title which you would be known. Afterall you are of House Qel-Nosh." Surely the House was proud of him and all that he had accomplished.

Faith was too trusting at times she couldn't see if the anyone within the palace would do her harm, but that was one reason she had called him right. Because she wasn't certain. Did not trust her judgement or that gut feeling.

"
Yes what you hear is true. We must be prepared."

Oh put another thing on her list she wanted to talk to Andien Gale Andien Gale . Reminder....

"My news is..well" She handed him the cup, plain dark brew, "sugar? milk?" An insult to tea everywhere to dilute it into something else but that was her preference, plain water, and tea. "Things here at home are always tipping and tilting. One reason why I've been home more but also..." She laughed, her nerves getting the better of her.

"I need to ask a favor." She waited to see if he wanted milk or sugar.

"Lord Qel-Nosh will do." Kilij stated, as the title lord showed he was of lower peerage than the Queen, as opposed to the Queen calling him master. Kilij followed the Queen over to the teapot. Truth be told Kilij only drank clean freshwater, as a health nut he doubted the calories or additives that often came with sugary drinks, caf, and alcoholic beverages. Out of respect for his Queen, he took the cup and smiled. "I'll have my tea plain thank you."

"As for you remaining at home, the royal palace is your home and where you are safest. Your subjects and retainers should be happy to serve for the common good of Alderaan, especially abroad."
Kilij stated then sipped his tea. "Wonderful."

Kilij took another sip and set the cup down on a table when his queen asked for a favor. "As your sword master, I believe you may task me with just about anything." He was honest as he spoke. Although he knew this was going to be about house Panteer. Not that he would refuse, but he knew that when it came to the intrigues of houses he would be on thin ice. "But yes, if you have an assignment for me. I will do my best to accomplish it."

"Lord Qel-Nosh" She wasn't really a formalities kinda person but she was about calling someone what they requested so Kilij would be Lord Qel-Nosh. "Ahh you like it straight good man, why kill the tea with additives. I love mine plain as well"

Oh...hmm she studied him for a moment had he and Ikenna Tahj Ikenna Tahj both decided that she needed to stay home. Then that would make 3 of them, Draco, Ike, and now Kilij. She had to admit she had considered it many times. But that wasn't why she asked for the meeting. She would think about this all later.

Favor - assignment sometimes it was the same thing. Politics a world of double meaning.

"House Panteer has petitioned to receive an official appointment. Granting an official appointment often shows trust and faith in the person receiving the appointment. Normally I do not have issue when I receive one of these requests, but when it comes to House Panteer in the past I feel they have shown that they would take any opportunity create a divide on Alderaan between houses. Would you be my envoy to House Panteer and politely check them out. I want to trust them they are an old house and their devotion to Alderaan has been unchallenged but that was the past. If it is possible to know I would like to know if they loyal to their Organa Queen."

There she said it. It was out.

Kilij was not a fan of politics. Yet nonetheless, when the queen mentioned House Panteer, a slight frown formed on his face. Noble houses, especially those of Alderaan were only loyal unto themselves. If they saw weakness or an opportunity to exploit no matter what house it was, they would use that exploit.

"I must say as an advisor to you personally I would move to block or veto such an appointment at this time. The Alliance is at war, and the time may come when resources here on Alderaan become strained by the war. I doubt house Panteer has ill intentions for Alderaan that does not necessarily mean that they do not possess any ill intentions for House Organa." Kilij spoke with Faith honesty.

"I will accept this task. But we must tread carefully. One misstep could be a political blunder for House Organa. I will conduct this investigation, I will no doubt need to question Lady Panteer and we will figure out why now they have chosen to petition for a position." Kilij assured the Queen. "I will also ensure their loyalties lie with the crown in with house Organa."

Kilij took another sip of tea, he had not seen Lady Panteer since the flesh raider incident. He wondered if he would at least receive a cordial reception.

She understood, "I have no taste for this side of politics it's uncomfortable. But to appoint someone to a position and they use it to...damage Alderaan, not really so me. I can handle most things but harming innocents on Alderaan harming those who look to us for help that I don't want to see."

She watched his face she could tell he didn't like it either. "War happens all the time in some part of the galaxy there's war. Alderaan is still recovering and yes our resources are stretched and help from the Alliance is often not enough. I do not mind being on our own. If war comes here will the Alliance protect us, or will they leave us to fend for ourselves as another government once did. WE have to all be on same side Lord Qel-Nosh that includes House Panteer, surely they can see the possible futures if we are not."

Faith for a moment reconsidered sending Kilij Qel-Nosh Kilij Qel-Nosh to House Panteer, an envoy to talk with them Faith had a feeling that Lady Panteer, Ana's mother would most certainly be expecting someone. She could twist it into a great many things, but Lady Panteer was known for being aggressive and taking advantage of any opportunity. How bad did she want this opportunity for Ana?

Then what would Ana do...her mother's bidding which could be anything or finally find a strength that pushed her through her mother's ambitions.
