The Nekogal in its twin variant

Intent: To provide a heavy turbolaser
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Ringovinda Systems
Model: Nekogal heavy turbolaser
Affiliation: Open market
Modularity: Can choose whether to have one, two or three tubes in a turret: each tube is worth 12 turbolasers
Production: Mass-Produced.
Material: Alusteel turret, turbolaser components
Classification: heavy turbolaser
Size: Ship-Mounted
Length: 15 meters
Weight: 35 tons (single-tube turret; add 15 tons per tube in same turret)
Ammunition Type: Power reactor
Ammunition Capacity: Turbolaser standard
Effective Range: Turbolaser standard
Rate of Fire: Turbolaser standard

Strengths:

- Common components with many heavy turbolaser batteries (in maintenance terms, just more of the same for heavy turbolaser users)
- Compatible with common turbolaser targeting computers
- Can adjust its firepower in accordance to the available power onboard the ship

Weaknesses:

- High power drain
- Prone to overheating if fired too often in a short period of time
- Difficult to hit small craft (fighters, bombers) with it

Special Features: None
Description: The Nekogal has the same power drain as its sister product, the Bulkhunter heavy ion cannon and also can be fitted inside the same sockets as the Bulkhunter. It is, as a result, more compact than a standard heavy turbolaser turret. It features seven power settings, each of which is twice as powerful as the previous one, with the end result that the highest power setting can drain the same amount of power as 12 standard turbolasers. Consequently it can be used to target ships of varying sizes in a variety of combat situations, in the sense of being able to make the most energy-efficient ways to engage capital ships. Because of the high power drain of the Nekogal, it is recommended not to place more than one tube for each 100 meters of length. Also, because it is compatible with most existing targeting computers, transition to a Nekogal will be seamless for most gunners. It is otherwise rather vanilla in terms of maintenance or functionality. Its turret has suboptimal traverse or depression speeds and hence is not ideal for defense against small craft.

Important note: Each tube is worth 12 standard turbolasers

This looks good. I have one clarification question though:

Are we talking about using energy efficiently to attack various types of capital ships? Or are we talking about something that hit small starfighters and small vessels as well? Or something else?

It's only about energy efficiency in capital ship-vs-capital ship engagements - the depression rates and traverse rates are not optimal for engaging small craft; you'd want faster traverse or depression rates than what the Nekogal afford you to fight small craft (starfighters, bombers, light freighters) effectively.
