Nerves of Steel

Cathbodua was workign with the other researchers, they had been setting up as many things as they could for the implant projects. New one, that were biot based, or mechanical based that could be used in the body. The different implants like the bacta processing implant served a strong purpose while some others like their muscle and neural stimulation implant would serve a purpose. It was being designed to improve but not outright replace the muscles giving more reation time to them as well as help the brain think faster for a time or in this case instead of being a short burst it could be used to stimulate the brain so it was on a more permanent basis when the soldiers or civilians were off using them.

The first phase of it was well getting it to properly work when they wanted to work on more of the things. The tubing and the stimulation would be an important thing to work with but so was thesmall computer that would work with them on some of the different things they wanted to work with a couple of the things and if this could give a number of humans average humans the reflexes to match a padawan that was trained as a jedi then it could work on a number of levels so she would be able to develop new technology. They were looking for ways to combine and build up the power that would come from mixing and matching the different implants and biots with augmentations to the body.

Cathbodua was working with the different researchers as they were showing the base model fo the implant and how it would be with the micro tubes that would deliver the impulses all throughout the body from the small implant that would be on the back. A small box that could be hooked up and into a computer to update it or tweak the information while you were working with more of the things. "Everything is coming along well then for us?" She was thinking about it with a nod of her head before she brought up her own screen seeing some of the other research teams that were working on the things. They were delivering and using the bacta processing implants model to give a base.

She stayed with it and with them as the researcher was joining her and speaking with her. "We have been running some tests master Cathbodua and the implants initial improvements have been working well. We are working on a better casing to protect it from emp and ion weapons though so it can't misfire or make the body immobile while it resets." She Was showing some of the data they could work with and using the materials as well as some of the things. "This is looking better then I expected, you and your team really are skilled in this field." She knew a little about it all and got the research angle for it, she even liked the idea at times of just being the one called in for problems instead of having to call other in.

The hours passed while they were working on it, refining the tubes and where they would be situation in the muscles of the body as well as the nervous system and neural centers for maximum stimulation. Providing the work they could do with it here while she run over the simulations with the screens and the AI that monitored it for them. "Stick with it if you can." She was speaking witht he Ai that was showing a number of the designs they were going for and they wanted it to be smaller, to be careful with everything that was happening so they would be able to better design and handle the strain of work that can happen with it. They could work on making it smaller and more compacted with a placement on the spine and nervous system.

They continued to pour over the information that was coming from it, new details about the implant that could be used and new ideas before a few of the better ideas came out. It wouldn't be easy or fun but they had a few of the soldiers who worked with them and the rangers. They were skilled and willing to try out the implant in case of anything that might be able to help them help the jedi. The doctors here were providing them with some ideas of how it would be before they would be going in the tank to get set up as well as some of the things for them. They were prepared to work on a number of the procedures before the woman saw it, one of the ranger's all shaved down and ready to go in with the medical droids and staff.

"Are you ready to begin or do you have any questions Ranger Taki? She asked it while standing there in the lab coat for a moment before going over to his side to get a better view and angle to see. he was prepared for anything it seemed and there was signs of additonal implants that had been given to him for testing as well as for combat while they went over the bigger things. "I think I got the jist of it doctor, you are going to jack up my nerves so they work at levels only jedi normally reach and hopefully the increased stimulation doesn't kill me or make me into something unable to move right?" He asked it while they were looking at some of the things together on the screen for side effects and risks.

Well that was the general idea of it yeah but there was more, beyond simple reaction speed the idea of them being able to think faster and with more clarity was a very important thing that they wanted to see and work with. They needed to be careful in some cases as they were looking over many of the things improved as they were. "Yes that will be the general hope, with the proper stimulation you will be able to inimprove upon your own reaction speed and thought processes so that you are in a near constant state of awareness until you turn it off for sleep." There were other times and they would be able to work with that but the general sleep, shower and times for it not to be in use were a given.

Watching over some more of the things that they had though the ranger seemed ready for it when he spoke with a nod of his head to her. "I am ready then, we'll be able to make sure to protect you jedi with better skills." He seemed ready for it and Cathbodua was turning over a few things to just make sure that he wouldn't be harmed with what was to come so they could really work with it. "Alright then, we shall begin the process and see you in several hours when you wake up. Just count backwards from ten and you should be asleep." She stayed there while bringing out one of the injectors when he started counting backwards before injecting him and his words became sluggish.

Finally he was asleep and the jedi kngiht moved around the lab with the others making sure he was prepped and ready for the surgery that would protect him from infection or sickness. The fields were also up so the medical droids overseen by one of their best doctos got the chance to work with all of the things here. Cathbodua moved with the others to go to the observation level so they could keep their attention on the bigger picture. A second ranger was being prepped and finished up before she was finalized they watched some of the screens to see the data. Both of them were highly trained and highly recommended when it came to this as they were Willa's best so no worries there but there was more as seeing how they preform against each other would help.

The procedure was being preformed when she stayed with it, interest in the data as well as the work they were doing. It was going to be a painful procedure compared to many of the others that required a number of replacements as well as complicated surgery while the droids continued to work with the one lead doctor and healer Lisa overseeing the main subjects. Two rangers, with this preforming at the peak of their skills should be more then enough and they were not rushing it when it came to the procedure to prevent incidents or a chance of it failing. They would allow the force to sustain them as well as the most important medical technology.

As the procedure continued to go and the jedi knight remained there looking over the screens to make sure they were getting everything done before she stayed with a couple of it. The AI was running the simulations for them while they went over some more of it. "Is everything proceeding according to your projections or are we not preforming it as well as you could as an AI?" She asked ti while the sphere like design of the AI came up from the hardlight projector to provide her with a couple of things. Then her voice came out more mechanical and careful compared to some of the others. "Projections for the implant are taking longer then expected but projections were based off of what would become Project Heralds enhanced beings."

Hmm that might be one of the problems with it, Project herald was meant to allow the creation of a new generation of enhanced super soldiers that would use the different aspects of Sakura's medical testing and fields. From simple implants to advanced implants such as the nerve enhancement to the augmentations to the blood and bone that would strengthen the. There was plans for muscle enhancement through synthetic rybocourse and synthmesh before going into organ replacement enhancing the interior of the body until finally extensive flash training to get different fighting styles as well as information about abilities they could use in hand to hand.

The AI seemed to be working it out while some of the other procedures showed what the remarkable improvements would be in the different persons and beings. She was giving more information then Cathbodua would ahve thought given a portion of the procedures and work had only been done so they were at best still guessing. Phase 1 trials would have to continue until then on people while they were providing invaluable information and feedback on the rest of the processes to the other jedi researchers. Artisan's and engineers were busy exploring and working on more things like the specialized armor that they were developing.

More work seemed to be working on it when she was getting the reports and updates that the droids were finishing up. Seeing the work that they were doing on it while the jedi knight stayed there looking out over the observation window with the implant at the back of the rangers who were working on their things. They were set up with potential for superior levels when it displayed on the screen for her to go over. They weren't waking up yet and it would take time for them to recover in the tanks but the chambers were designed to give them the healing solution as well as ways to recover that didn't involve them being left around easily. She authorized the transfer as the procedure finished and the chambers were brought into the room.

The rangers were loaded into the chambers to heal as Cathbodua was watching their displays to see what they had been working with. THey were recovering and showing the promise of going to have a full recovery compared to many more of the things when she tapped the stylus on the datapad writing down a few of her own notes on the procedures. The AI was there working on many of the things to record and set it all up until she was wanting to see the bigger things they were setting up a test for them in the end. They wanted to work on more of it while producing some of the results after they were recovered enough to move around under their own power.

THe procedure itself seemed to be a success as over the coming days they had been working on some of the larger things they were doing here, they had worked on it while providing a number of new things for them to see and work with. The two rangers had woken up in the chambers and were oberving everything, no signs of side effects from the implants with their nervous system and no signs of problems or complications from the surgery that would serve to endanger them. It was almost time to work on seeing what they could do when the jedi knight was setting it up so they had the rooms and some of the droids were working on the scanners for them.

With the ranger's out of the tanks and dried off they were laying on the bed that had been brought in and set up for them. The sterile room was prestine while they got their small scars checked over and the implant was checked to make sure it was working before the one started to come to on his bed. Groggy at first from not really moving around in the tank for a couple of days and stiff but the nurses had moved him so his muscles should be semi loosened if they were doing it right. The look on his face said he was tired but had been asleep for a long enough time to well be well rested compared to many. "Morning doc or.... whatever time it is. My head feels like a wookiee split it open."

Looking at the ranger as he sat up for a moment and held his head she moved slightly getting some fo the ice chips that way he could relax and hopefully be alright. It wasn't like they knew what the end result of the procedure was going to be or how they would react when he was moving around in the bed grabbing the bowl she brought over quickly with a groan. "Ow I haven't moved in days." Cathbodua made a note of how quickly he was moving and his eyes were looking around before she moved when he started eating a few of the chips. "Yes I expect there will be some readjustment needed you were in the tank for a long period of time and under general for the procedure but we can say based on the lack of side effects right now that it seems to have been a success."

They spent the next day going over the results and testing the implants skills. THey were working with the second ranger that arrived allowing the testing phase of the implants to proceed with the two of them fighting with practice swords as well as stun weapons to develop and show off those skills that became what they were working with. They were moving faster to the eye as their reaction times were increased from what a normal human could do, much like a jedi who was using their skills to predict where to go and speed up their reaction times when they were defending and attacking each other to move around. THey were staying at it as their own endurance training for these situations were also being tested to see how far they could go. "Excellent work rangers. You have been showing the near limits of what the implants can do and we should have plenty of data when it comes down to refining the process for the next candidates. THank you."
