OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Landmark Name: Sundered Wastes
  • Classification: Wastelands
  • Location: Netherworld
  • Affiliation: N/A
  • Size: Massive
  • Population: Insignificant
  • Demographics: Spirits of the dead sparsely populate the land and wander aimlessly
  • Accessibility: Can only be accessed through the Ethereal Sea
  • Description: The Sundered Wastes are endless tracts of land, barren and dead, and with thundering storm clouds, always looming overhead. Purple streaks of light lance across the sky and down to the dry, cracked ground. Dead trees can be spotted every once in a while, but far more noticeable is the ancient stone ruins of what once might guess to be huge watch towers. The crumbling structures are scattered throughout the Wastes, silent sentinels over their lifeless wards.
  • Gate: Ethereal Sea

  • Lucidity: While most of the galaxy's rules apply here, mysterious voices can be heard, much like those of the Ethereal Sea, however, unlike the Sea where you may or may not know who the voices belong to, all these voices are voices you'd recognize. Every voice will say things and phrases you might recognize. That is because these are memories. Traveling the Wastes will provide you with disjointed and broken illusions, auditory, visual and olfactory (but not tactile) of scenes from your past. Specific areas will allow you to see the memories of others as well.

  • Hostility: Apathetic to Hostile. Most of the spirits within the Wastes do not care about visitors, however the more grotesque looking denizens of the Wastes will be hostile.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Rift exit
The entrance to the Ethereal Sea, it is the only way in or out of the Sundered Wastes.

[*]Gardens of Sacrifice
  • The Gardens reside within a specific watch tower, or rather towers, unlike the others of the Wastes. Twins stand side by side, and are linked together by a bridge. Entering either tower and climbing to the tops and opening the doors to what one would presume to be the bridge will empty out in a small, walled garden (either door will exit to the Garden, just on opposite sides). All along the ground and up the walls will be flowers. Each flower represents a memory. The flower and color is unique to each person in the Garden, and if a new person enters, new flowers bloom. Picking a flower will present all present a vision of a memory of the person to whom the flower belonged to. In the center of the garden is a fountain with an ornate vase, partially submerged. The vase appears to hold red wine and several flowers (depending on who is present). If one of those flowers is taken from the vase, a vision of the death of someone the person whom the flower belonged to cared about will be shown (or how the person found out) all present will also experience the emotions of that moment.

[*]Madness
  • Madness is actually a large castle in the center of the Wastes, and can be seen regardless of where you are. Madness is the only place that is guarded, the various souls that exist around the castle attacking any mortal being who approaches. The number of souls surrounding the castle is equivalent to a lightly guarded castle of the same size. Upon entering the castle though (souls cannot follow the PCs into the castle), you will arrive in a narrow, but endless hallway, lined with skulls upon shelves. Upon closer inspection one would find two small lit candle inside the skull, placed such that the flames appear where the pupils of the eyes would be. These candles never go out (but can not be removed from the skull either). Picking up a skull will allow you to the memory of whatever being that skull belongs to. This is not restricted to anyone present in Madness. These memories can belong to those in the Netherworld, in the galaxy, living, or dead.
Although very rare, the Force can be used to divine the identity of a specific skull and memory.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
A product of the events aboard the OSS Ophidia, as the Sith Selka Ventus killed tens of thousands during her quest to finally free herself of her immortality, the Force shook with Dark influence. When the Ophidia began to break apart above Aterka, threatening to wipe out the planets population, the immense fear added to tremors felt within the Force. Ultimately, when Dax Fyre assisted the Sith in punching through the breach point of the galaxy, and the subsequent violent release of Ventus' soul, coupled with the build up of Dark Side energy, it spawned the Sundered Wastes as well as Ethereal Sea.
