    .
  • Description: Netra'yaim, meaning Castle Black in Basic, derives its name for its external appearance. Wrought from seemingly midnight stones, the locale is a literal fortress born as the seat of House Verd. At a glance, the citadel may appear to be classical in nature. However, it is alive with both modern defensive measures and comforts. For any weary members of the House, this is a fitting place to rest their heads. For all the Verd call kin, this is a fitting place to call Home.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Northern Approach - The region wherein Netra'yaim resides has become known as the Ardent Reach. This is a fitting title reflective of its excessively humid climate. Approaching Netra'yaim from the Northern paths will expose a visitor to the fullest extent of these conditions. Thick mists, "affectionately" dubbed The Gloom persist throughout most hours of the day. Despite this obstacle, it is from the Norhtern Approach that the natives of Krant interact with Netra'yaim.

Southern Approach - The land directly south of Netra'yaim is dominated by water and is also obscured by The Gloom. Despite this, the House utilizes the Southern Approach for modern entry into their residence. Foreign starships will find a perilous flight before them - for the hangar bays are only accessible by flying intimately close to the waters' surface. Should one survive the Southern Approach, a spacious hangar bay with many lifts will be their reward.

Great Hall - Considered both the jewel and the beating heart of Netra'yaim, the Great Hall is the center of all important gatherings for the House. In times of celebration, the ornate Hall is filled with tables, music, and the sounds of merriment. In times of strife, the jovial atmosphere is replaced with the din of armor and weapons being tested for battle. While changes in decor may come regularly, what remains persistent are the towering statues which honor Alors past.

Drake Den - Over the course of decades, House Verd has come to be the proud owners of numerous beasts. From autonomous Basilisk War Droids, to literal monstrosities of Sith Alchemy. As these creatures cannot be permitted to freely roam the Ardent Reach, an extensive roost was built underneath Netra'yaim to properly house them. Numerous caverns and nests can be found here, and it is advised that extreme caution be utilized when braving this section of the citadel.

Underforge - Only a short distance away from the Drake Den is a personal sanctuary for Darth Metus himself. Built from the remains of his previous Dark Forge, the Underforge is the center of his alchemical and smithing ventures. Classical and Modern techniques blend together in this space, for the Underforge features both powered equipment and traditional means of forging. Moreover, one will find creations lining the walls - from swords, to axes, and everything in-between.

West Wing - While the Great Hall is the heart of Netra'yaim, it is the West Wing which truly makes it into a home. The Wing is the locale for all residences within the citadel. Here, a member of the family or even a temporary guest will find lodgings comparable to modern lofts abroad. Spacious. Adorned with every conventional comfort. The West Wing is where the weary Verd eagerly come to lay their heads.

Undercroft - While the West Wing is a place of physical rest, the Undercroft is for rest eternal. Located within the heart of the Drake Den are memorials for the fallen members of the House. The walls are adorned with recollections of their exploits. And, if recoverable, their remains are preserved here for posterity. It is also within the Undercroft that the greatest treasures of the House are kept. Both under the protection of the Den, and under the watchful eye of their dearly departed.

SECURITY
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

While interrupted during the rise of the Galactic Empire, Krant - and by extension Netra'yaim - had been the primary residence for House Verd outside of Mandalorian space. Decades ago, during the reign of the first modern Confederacy, Krant was a world scarcely traveled. Riddled with superstitions, and overshadowed by the neighboring Kothlis, the few denizens live in an excessively rural manner. When the first Confederacy came to welcome Krant into the fold, the then-clan Verd began to build a suitable Home amidst its darkest locale. Purchased at a fair price from the locals, the territory containing ancient Sith ruins was claimed by order of their Alor - Isley Verd. The strength of the Dark Side was attractive to the Clan Father, as it would be a great boon to his alchemical projects. In time, this vision manifested in the original Netra'yaim.

For many years, Netra'yaim's obsidian walls served as a refuge for the Clan. Many of Isley's own children were born and raised within its halls. And some of his finest creations began within its Forge. Moreover, the Citadel did not serve as an interruption to Krant's modest way of life. The presence of the Verd on Krant was not the commencement of oppression - but rather a neighborly relationship. At regular intervals, the Clan would trade with the locals and even provide work for fair compensation. For a time, this balance persisted until the political landscape of the first Confederacy turned volatile. Wrongfully vilified for the faults of the nation, Isley departed the Southern Systems alongside his Clan.

As a result, Netra'yaim was razed to the ground in a series of raids led by the Clan's adversaries. However, while the residence was picked bare and reduced to ash, the citizens of Krant were spared any suffering. They returned to their lives, uninterrupted, until the Galactic Empire's tumultuous expansion. In those days, Krant was seen as little more than a resource hub. Thus, against their will, the people watched as offworlders ravaged their mountains, forests, and valleys. Despite being so few in number, the people chose to rise up against these foreign invaders. Yet, their best efforts were brutally put down. Their defeat, which could be described as a massacre, led to the already small population to be effectively diminished. Those few who survived went into hiding.

With the eventual collapse of the Empire came the return of the Confederacy to Krant. Reconstituted under Isley's - now publicly known as Darth Metus - leadership, this was one world he and his people were eager to reach out to. Shortly after being welcomed back into the community, House Verd returned to the ruins of Netra'yaim. It was there that they learned, not only about the fate of their home, but if the hardships endured by the people. This prompted the House to open its (metaphorical) doors in a large way. The survivors were welcomed into the fold. No longer would they be neighbors, but rather sisters and brothers. All kin under the banner of House Verd. Together, as one unified family, they resolved to elevate Krant into an era of prosperity.

There was no better reflection of this glorious purpose than the full restoration of Netra'yaim. Together, House Verd undid the wrath of time - but did not cease their efforts there. Where once there was ash, there was now Ardent March: the first of many regions targeted for uplifting. With Netra'yaim at the center, this region quickly became a hub for modern amenities and progress on Krant. And with every victory, the House proved its truth:

Strongest Together.
