Theed, Naboo
Presidium
Confederacy of Independent Systems
It had been some time since the invasions of Ryloth and Rodia - and in all that time she had not yet given herself a moment to truly stop and take a breath. There had been so much that had happened in the following months since then that even now as the Confederacy stepped forward to assists others once more - she had stepped back to give herself the time needed to focus her mind and prepare for the new round of lost lives. Between the strange alliance that had coalesced with the Confederacy, Sith, and Silver Jedi against yet another resurgent Imperial force - and the continued onslaught of conquest that raged at the hands of the Bryn'adul - it was difficult to just take that moment. In fact, she had to seize that moment to step back, for herself, having slipped away from her office to pull her mind away from such things.
The night air had been a welcomed reprieve from the staleness of the air within Anthem - the Confederacy's Military complex that had been hidden away within Theed itself. She had spent more time in those offices as of late than she had out in the city, which is why the walk that she had embarked upon was quickly welcomed. She did not seem to care either where she ended up, just that she had the means to clear her mind and permit her time to think and wonder about other things. It was strange still not having a mouth and nose full of dust and debris from simply walking down through the city - though she was quickly becoming accustomed to Naboo - it was still an oddity that they could enjoy the night now without the worry of some sandstorm threatening to bury or damage the city. Nor, did she find herself worrying much about the sun as she previously had - with Anthem's location a rather pleasant place - she found herself spending more time on the balcony, thankful it was encased in the same bubble-like matrix that the Gungan's utilized to make their own underwater cities.
With a soft sigh, she stopped in front of a large fountain, her golden-yellow hues falling upon it as she carefully studied the architecture and design that was utilized in its construction. Reaching out for a moment - slender digits slipped through the water before pulling away as the droplets fell from her fingertips - the water dancing within the fountain. Moving away from the fountain, she found a bench that she could take a momentary rest upon during her walk, a soft smile pulling at the corners of her lips as she slipped down onto the cool metal and closed her eyes. There was been much that had happened in this last month - and coming to terms and compartmentalizing and ordering each of those events had been difficult when she had to focus on the myriad of aspects that came with her office. And now, with the potential of a new office and greater responsibilities - she worried that there would come a time when she would not have these fleeting moments just for herself.
Resting quietly upon the bench, her golden-yellow hues fell upon the Presidium, the hallowed building that now housed the Viceroyalty of the Confederacy - its structure matching the architectural design and aesthetic of Theed. In moments like these she had often found her attention drawn to the architecture of the buildings that she was now admiring - they seemed to assist in clearing her mind from all the trappings that she had been dealing with in the last few days. Of course - now that her mind had time to wander - she had found old thoughts and memories arising from where they had been pushed into the shadows. She thought on the Confederacy - and how much longer it could survive as the Galaxy continued to spiral out of control in its ever ceaseless conflict. With the Outer Planets Alliance having fallen - was the Confederacy next? And if so, where would that find her? No, those were thoughts she couldn't afford to heed - and thus once more she pushed them back to the darker corners of her mind.
For now, she was in the exact place that needed her - and she couldn't see herself changing that. There had been a time when she would have likely been set upon by the same B1 Series Battle Droids that now patrolled the streets of Naboo - back when she was with the Commenor Systems Alliance. She was lucky - and understood the missteps that she had taken - though the simple fact she had risen from the target of a Confederate bounty to a Grand Marshal within its ranks was still an amazing fact. It often brought a chuckle to her lips when she thought about it - though also figured that the day would come when things would change. At that moment, however, she was merely focused upon the here and now - her golden-yellow hues slipping over the fountains, and foliage that graced the Presidium - graced with a multitude of native and exotic plants from all corners of the Confederacy.
Shifting slightly, she leaned back against the bench she had found herself currently occupying, slipping one leg over the other as she brought her hands down to rest in her lap. The cool night air was relaxing, and she focused on doing just that - not wanting to drift away into her thoughts - she quickly found her attention shifting from the plants and decore of the surrounding area to the individuals themselves. Watching as they went here and there, and there and here - going about their own busy schedules, even with the sun having dipped over the horizon some hours prior. It seemed that with the Confederacy having relocated their Capital to Theed - that the activity and its nightlife had become more active - though she didn't have much to go on, as it was only recently that she began to spend more time on Naboo.
It was strange really - in the last few months - she had spent more time on a planet than on the bridge of her vessel. Then again, she hadn't needed to command it since the invasions - and she was somewhat relieved at that fact. While she enjoyed commanding fleet formations, she never enjoyed the prospect of losing individuals under her command. And so she took a quiet breath, closing her eyes for a moment to further clarify her mind before those golden-yellow hues opened once more and she enjoyed the cool night air that danced about her.
