Never seen a Duro do that before... [Free Colonies/Open]

Jagen Wren

Cortosis, a material that could absorb blaster bolts, block lightsaber attacks and even short out the lightsaber itself. It could be found only on a handful of planets, including the planet of Duros...

Jagen Wren had arranged for two days of illegal "mining" with up to ten people on the planet of Duros, so he did just that. He put out a flyer in the Dark Star Tavern and a few people contacted him about it, all of them members of the Free Colonies that were interested in acquiring Cortosis ore.

Wren opened his eyes and took in his surroundings, he was still sitting in the pilot's seat of his ship; The Atin Ruug'la Jag, which was Mando'a for "Stubborn Old Man". He checked the console and saw that they only had a few more minutes of hyperspace until they arrived at Duros.

He opened the hatch near the chair that led down into the recreational area of the ship "Alright you lot! We got about ten more minutes until we get to Duros, we can do this one of two ways, we go and mine our own, or we can raid a depot of this stuff!" He yelled down towards the crew.

Jack sat with his feet up on a nearby table. His bandanna red and dirty was tied around his head and his face was still badly bruised from a tavern brawl. He held a cup of ale loosely in his hand and tossed back the foamy swell into his guts. Then he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and slammed the cup on the table.

"I'm down for a raid any day. I can fly Air support with The Rogue."

Gray was sitting at the table with his cousin Jack. Where his cousin had an ale, Gray had a glass of whiskey. He took a drink from it as his clan brother Jagen addressed them. A raid or a mining trip to acquire the cortosis they were after. He knew a little bit about the stuff, and had heard rumors of how dangerous mining the stuff could be. It was unstable unless refined properly and no energy tool would work on the veins. That meant hard and heavy with metal picks. He didn't like either of those opinions at all. He set down his glass and said, " I say we raid for it as well. A good fight is always fun and getting something valuable out of it just makes it even better."

The ore known as cortosis was rather useful. Lightsaber resistance as seen in phrik or ultrachrome was one thing, but cortosis in its purest form could short out a lightsaber for a period of time. Ever since that discovery, demand had been high. Prices, higher.

Audren had ideas, ones that would benefit by having access to cortosis ore. So, despite not necessarily agreeing with the flight path the Free Colonies were taking, he'd signed up for the trip to get some. There had been others as well, some that he knew and some he didn't. Jagen Wren was the host, for lack of a better word, Jack Raxis was present, Qarai - the two had met during the taking of Annaj - had tagged along, and two others that he didn't know. Ultimately, they'd taken Wren's ship, the Tin Rug la'Jag to Duro. The planet was a slag heap, but it had cortosis.

Most of the travelers were in the recreational area of Wren's ship, drinks in hand. The Jedi Knight...wasn't here as a Jedi Knight, and in fact had very little on him denoting his status as such. No Jedi robes, those were replaced with a spacer's outfit, to which he'd added a hood and scarf. No lightsaber, no comlink with Sanctum or Alliance codes stored on it, not even his preferred sidearm. Instead he had a heavy blaster pistol, a carbine, and a vibroblade. He also had a drink in hand, some sort of brandy.

The Sephi was well aware of the dangers of mining the ore due to some quick research, and hadn't really expected the Colonies crew to be mining it. Hence the weapons. However, there were legitimate companies that mined the ore, innocents that would be put at risk in a raid like the one suggested. Such was not something he could support. What he could go after though, was the cortosis mined or stolen by criminal enterprises.

"Raid some crime lord's warehouse. No civilians, no authorities."

He wasn't so much stuck on the crime lord part, more on the civilian or authorities. This crew was capable, from the little he knew of it, and while he was certain they would get away, he was equally certain there would be casualties. So yes, he'd be a stickler on that part. A buzzkill even, if he needed to be.
