If you have an idea for a faction, join up and look around there. They'll probably have an OOC forum as well where you can get further introduction, and likely a couple of first RPs to introduce the character.

All good things so far. If I may be so bold as to offer my own ideas.
Figure out what you want to accomplish with your story and then go from there. Factions can help you out as well as anyone else. Don't be afraid to go out on a limb and also don't think just because a thread doesn't work out that you some how did something wrong.
