New directions. (The path to Sobriety part 1)

Myles was in bad shape. He had been in bad shape for a very long time. His demons had gotten the better of him and he had become a shell of his former self. This is of course why he was in the clinic. He had just finished detoxing from his last bender. The one that almost killed him.

With his body on the road to recovery his mind was the next thing to fix. Something he new would take quite a bit longer than it would take his body to heal.

Myles walked through out the gardens waiting on the paper work to sign so that he could be discharged. Then it was off to find a place to lay his head down at night followed by a sponsor to help him through the long road to recovery. The most important thing to Myles was getting back to being the soldier he once was. Back to his brothers and back to having a purpose. Being a Soldier was all Myles knew and he felt lost without it.

The Galaxy had become a strange place to him. The lines had gotten blurred.

He sat there dazed as they had drugged him to calm him down enough to bring him there and were filling out as much paperwork as they could get out of him while he was sedated, even though he didn't remember much.

The team of guards stood around him watching him even in his sedated state as they barely managed to get him there and they didn't want him to escape and get hurt or hurt someone.

Slowly he felt his body clean out the sedation, he sat there keeping up the appearance for a while until the guards' attention slipped and he jumped up and ran for the nearest door as the guards looked in confusion and bolted after him. Several guards grabbed him and tried to fight him down into submission struggling to keep a hold of him as he struggled against them .

"ARG YOU CAN'T KEEP ME HERE!" The yell would come from inside the center as a man came flying out the window and another man followed in suit running away from a team of guards trying to get him.

Myles turned quickly at the sound of the window shattering and the man came flying out the window. For a good solid minute he was speechless and frozen in place. Once he recovered Myles turned poking his head into the door of the Clinic to a nearby staff member.

"You got a runner."

Turning back towards the commotion Myles took off in a light jog towards the runner and trailing guards. Myles himself was not going to try and catch the runner. He knew better than that. He knew for a fact the guards were going to eventually corner the runner. When they did however they would find themselves faced with a caged animal with nothing to lose. Myles had been there before himself.

No he would keep pace and wait for the right moment to interject and calm down the situation.

He sprinted running taking different turns trying to find a way out, he could feel the guards trying to grab him but he continued picking up speed trying to pull away, they weren't fast enough to catch him but they could keep up enough to cause him problems.

"Back off!"

Yelling behind him he threw down a trash can in their path, it caused them a moments distraction as he attempted to make his way out but before he knew it they were on him again, and he was cornered. He turned around slowly as the guards looked at one another and moved in, their mistake. He grabbed one and threw him into another and then took ones legs out from underneath him, the last guard just looked around him and backed away.

With shifting eyes he looked for a good way to get out of the room not noticing [member="Myles Skyreaper"] trailing the now downed guards.

Myles watched the guards go down and shook his head. He knew that was going to happen. He held his hands up and out to his side clearly showing nothing in them. He wore no uniform, had nothing in his heads, and no pockets to conceal anything. He was just a guy in slacks and a collared shirt.

"Easy there brother. You look like you are having a rough day. You know you don't have to jump out windows. You could have just walked out the front door like I did."

Myles stopped far enough away from the man to be able to react to any outburst or more importantly things thrown at him.

"I am Myles.............what do say you and I just stand here and talk. We don't have to go anywhere."

[member="Logan Grey"]

As he heard the man speak he swung for a moment about to swing until he saw that he had his hands up and nowhere to conceal anything, efficiently at least. He raised a brow slightly and looked at the man for a moment.

"No way am I going back to another hell hole like that, I've had enough needles and solitude to last a lifetime... or two. If I could have left then why did they sedate me?"

He asked this question looking at the man expecting and wanting an answer, he wanted to know why they did that to him.

"They call me.... my name is Logan, and what do you have to say?"

[member="Myles Skyreaper"]

Myles smiled and leaned against the wall beside him leaning his hands in full view.

"Well you did jump out of a window. Pretty sure they were worried you would hurt yourself......clearly their fears were at least a little justified."

Myles sighed.

"They did the same to me when I first got there and had to detox. Going through that can be rough and at times make you feel like you are losing it."

He turned half way putting his back flat against the wall but turning his head to look at Logan.

"Ok Logan. So what's your story? Me I was a Republic Soldier. Had a very difficult time dealing with the loss of my squad in battle. Developed a drinking problem to drown out the nightmares."

His eyes scanned over the man in front of him as he leaned against the wall.

"What they did was unjustified thank you, I was fine by own, and I don't need anyone's help."

Squinting at the man a little he listened to him talk.

"I don't need to feel like I'm loosing it anymore, I have nothing left to loose for it to be a problem."

The words came out as he kept his eye on the man in front of him.

"That's just it, I don't know my story, only that I was taken and experimented on, all I had was an escape plan I had made before I lost my memory, dog tags, and a set of clothes."

[member="Myles Skyreaper"]

Myles listened to the man's story. It was of course full of holes but it really didn't matter to him. After all he didn't even know the man.

"What do you remember?"

Then Myles shrugged.

"Or you don't have to tell me. Sounds like you got a fresh start. You can be anything or anyone you want to be. Wish I had that chance."

Myles pushed off the wall.

"I am headed back to sign some paperwork so I can go home........find a home to go to. You can follow me and get's some help or you can spend your life running. Up to you."

[member="Logan Grey"]

His brow raised slightly as the man inquired about what he remembered.

"Not much... and what I do remember I don't know if it's really true or I made it up."

A long sigh came out of his mouth.

"It's not as good as it sounds, I know I knew a lot more, and I was meant to do more, but now I'm stuck lost and confused."

He glanced at the man a little.

"I don't need their help, I just need to find my own place in the galaxy. I need to go somewhere and figure out what I am supposed to be doing, not stuck signing papers."

[member="Myles Skyreaper"]

"Help needed is rarely help wanted."

Myles shook his head.

"Did you stop to think for a moment that these people you dismiss so readily could potentially have resources to point you in the direction you may want or need to go to accomplish?

Myles shrugged.

"Up to you though. Every man is free to make there own decisions for themselves. However if you are so determined to not go back you may want to hurry up and ghost before those guys wake up or more come looking for these two."

Myles turned and walked back towards the clinic.

"Me not remembering does not mean I need help."

He grit his teeth a little looking at them man.

"What would they know what I want to do if I don't want to do, I could take a million exams of what the system thinks I could do but what would I have, an idea, not a certainty like I had before."

He furrowed his brows slightly.

"If they send more they'll find these three and nothing more, I can figure out a way to get far away from this place if I wanted, too. Even if they did wake up I don't think they'd want round two."

Watching as the man left he raised a eyebrow a little confused at what had happened between them.
