New Forum Reorganization

I know we just had one, but I've received a lot of feedback that it can be confusing. What is Mission Control? Why not all in one OOC forum?

Here's my forum consolidation proposal to you. Please let me know your opinions.

We would be keeping:

• "WHO DO I ASK?" becomes "Information and Resources"
• The Galactic Republic Team Forum (You know... A general discussion... Where we can talk about everything...)
• The Galactic Senate
• The Armed Forces of the Republic
• The Jedi Order
• Archives

You may be asking, "But where are the IC threads to be, Gen? Where do I train and stuff? Where is the Senate going to have its sessions?"

And I will answer, "On the main board!"

Ta-da.

I personally think this streamlines everything. Does anyone even use The Workshop? Why does Mission Control exist? Can't we insert all the scattered 'information and resources' into their respective forums?

Would you like to see forum navigation revamped to something simple? Would it help you as a newer member? Would it help you find what you're looking for easier?

Why does Mission Control exist?

For the same reason why you want to consolidate all pertinent Jedi/Senate/Military information into one forum for each. To consolidate all doms, invasions, missions (from all branches) and Looking For Group (aka "hey, wanna RP?") threads and keep them out of the OOC discussion boards.

Unity Forum works, I guess. I think you've got something going with the War Plans name, what about War Room? I don't know, it's hard to come up with a name that's at once intuitive, welcoming and flavorful.

And no, no one uses the Workshop. No one wanted it, no one needed it, no one uses it.

Otherwise, I like it.

I do have a question. I like that you're encouraging us to write our IC stuff on the main forum. Personally, I've always found it a little ridiculous to have our little corner of RP sequestered off from everyone else, and anything that will assist in breaking us away from that habit is welcome in my eyes.

So what is the purpose of the Military/Jedi/Senate subforums? If it is thread planning, we can just use the War Room and specify what is needed per thread request. If it is a storage of information, that can either be handled directly through the "Information and Resources"-whatever we're calling it and the Archives for whatever category it qualifies itself for.

Is there an additional purpose for each individual branch of the Republic to have a subforum that I'm not seeing?

Pinning all the necessary info specific to each branch in one forum can get a little messy. Plus, the Jedi Order is technically a subfaction within the Republic. I would have to speak with [member="Corvus Raaf"] regarding that.

Streamlining would help as I'm still trying to get used to how factions work and the less that there is to get confused about, the better.
